As a moroccan myself I can't spend more than 2 days in that city, its Medina is way too overrated, cool too see quickly in one day but that's it, as you said the vast majority of it are chinese products sold at scam-level prices + that city is filled with scammers tryna intimidate & take advantage of tourists. Agadir & Tanger are cities that are a lot more enjoyable as a tourist.

Few years ago I visited Marrakesh and stayed there 21 days, and spent a week in the mountains. Very nice people and I loved the city and enjoyed the time walking in a village. It was safe and it is normal to find some people who try to scam you in every tourist area around the world, but you should be smart enough to smell that. I even considered to move to Morocco. Good people, beautiful mountains, nice weather, and nobody forced me to buy anything made in China.

Thank you for your kind words. Moroccans are indeed a wonderful people living in an awesome country. What this guy doesn't get is that Moroccans are still largely poor and that selling as much as they can to survive is a survival necessity.

Tourists do not come to Marrakesh to visit the M'hamid neighborhoods or the popular markets that contain products that are primarily intended for Moroccans. Rather, tourists come to enjoy the luxury hotels and riads in the old cities, to visit ancient places, and to the Moroccan Andalusian gardens and enjoy food . Since you do not want to visit Marrakesh, why did you come there in the first place? You would go directly to Tangier or Rabat to enjoy there!!!

I'm Moroccan, and I agree with you. If you want Moroccan products, you should visit Fez, the Moroccan Sahara, or the Atlas Mountains to experience the real Morocco. or Agadir: Agadir offers a different shopping experience. You can find a variety of local products, including Berber jewelry, carpets, and Argan oil.

Easy go to Rabat or Agadir or Tanger or Titouan … and brother that’s a market so it’s normal to find products in it.

Go back to Italy and film some streets there and show reality of Italy as well..everywhere in that world, there’s nice area and a bad one! Keep your money with you if you don’t like city and go away, Marrakech if not perfect still a very nice city

Is it a trend now that vlogers go to African or middle east country and trashing it ? I think it is disrespectful and racist to think that you live in a a better place or you are better person just because you are western. and all of that just for the sake of some views. You are right! I should have done a better job in pointing out that I am only talking about Marrakesh, not the whole of Morocco (a beautiful, diverse country). I should have provided alternatives (Fes; Agadir; Tangiers...) for better tourist experience. I hope this video doesn't defer anyone from visiting Morocco as a whole, but i hope it warns people before choosing Marrakesh!

In the past I usually wore original brands clothes, but now I never mind what I wear as long as it is comfortable and polite to wear. I also never expect other people to do good or help me, but I always demand myself to do good and help others. And in fact, while I was in Marrakesh last November for around 8 days, I received a very good welcome and help that I never expected, even when I wanted to give a tip of 100 Dirhams was rejected.I love marrakesh and I will comeback

100%, but for the government. you, as a tourist you don't like to be viewed as a cash cow, and be always asked for your money. When you visit a country you want to learn about culture, history and broaden your horizons; not leave as much money in the country. There are much better option for Moroccan culture than Marrakesh (Fes; Agadir; Casa...)

The government plays its part in facilitating tourism and decent infrastructure and the people do their part in trying to sell as much as they can. The Brits and Americans launched wars on third countries so that they open their markets to western products... We didn't. We just welcome people and propose them to buy as much as they can afford. Peaceful commerce we do.

I visited europe, aside from churches and plazzas surrounded with nice old buildings there isn't much to see neither, at the end of the day you eat an ice cream take a stroll around the touristic areas do shopping in malls and buy souvenirs and then go back to your hotel room, but it is europe and everything is overrated. even when weather sucks. I visited belgium denmark poland sweden and norway i felt depressed, there is literally nothing to do, the cities and people are cold and lifeless Italy was overcrowded with tourists, booking a coliseum ticket should be done three months in advance, cuisine is okay but restaurants are really expensive, but at least the locals send good vibes, palace and historical tours are extremely expensive too, starts at 40 euros and goes up The thing is anywhere you travel you need money to have a good experience do nice activities and sit in nice coffees and eat in nice restaurants, and book nice hotels. In europe the education and healthcare system are a 10/10 but the rest is the same as any other city in the world, You work from 8 to 5 go home rest go out for a coffe or a drink go back home sleep and do the same next day.

The main problem of tourism especially in 3rd world countries including Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia who are all unique and visually pleasing in their own right, is that the governments overall don't invest as much in their tourism sector despite tourism making up a good chunk of their gdp and overall economy. They allow their citizens to play around, scam and drain tourists because they see you as an easy buck not for the government but for the people overall as well. I find it very frightening how scammers end up getting tourism permits from their governments and opening up their agencies, the only problem I have in tourism in the 3rd world is that there are NO fixed prices so they come up with whatever outrageous prices they can. What I find funny is that you'll never find this kind of hustle and bustle in touristy countries like France, Italy and Spain for example. The people in these countries have their own lives and have stable jobs and are financially well so they don't really need to be all out there trying their hardest to buck in clueless and stupid tourists. It has nothing to do with culture but it has everything to do with economy and unemployment.
