It is easy, religion is a losing position. It is hard to push for disgusting behaviors, when there is no sense to them. He cannot argue religion well, because nobody can.

@@jf8138 This is one of if not the dumbest comment I've ever seen on my channel. Very dangerous plagues like Black Death, Spanish Flu, or A*DS were visible. That gave us a huge advantage over the modern plague of absolute idiocy and spiritual ignorance...where people don't even know they are infected.

@@HaleStorm49no that comment is pretty accurate. I can’t think of one religious argument that doesn’t fail due to logical fallacies, historical inaccuracies, or just internal inconsistencies.

1) It doesn't even attempt to distinguish between religions. Even Dawkins and now mentally defunct Sam Harris are willing to admit some are better than others. 2) How do disgusting behaviors yield positive results at scale? Ironically Nietzsche thought that only by scrapping inherited values and starting anew could people avoid falling into nihilism or hypocrisy. Both are manifested by the OP in this thread. 3) Why can't you think of one? Have you never been taught? Have you never applied yourself? 4) One example of a religious argument that applies here is the parable of the sower...which in actuality is a parable of different types and readiness levels of soil. There might be a reason that so many people think the same way today...and it's not a good one.

Thanks TJ. Do you have any good resources for studying Eternal Law and the idea that God can do anything that is possible but cannot do what is impossible (like forcing someone into a genuine relationship with Him against their will)? The idea from Alma 42:13 "Now the work of justice could not be destroyed; if so, God would cease to be God."

Hey Cameron, Do you agree or disagree that God could cease to be God?

Literally just listened to the great divorce audiobook last night. 😎

Nice! Haven't read it for at least a decade. What did you think?
@robertthompson34472 ай бұрын
@HaleStorm49 It is not new to me. Part of my "at least once a year" collection. This time through I noticed that the idea of the "solid people" was not an original idea. C. S. Lewis didn't remember the name of the source of the idea, but he did give credit to him in the introduction anyway.

Matt’s been a Catholic his whole life. I think it’s kinda like having a car that’s always run perfectly. You accept it because it’s never given you a reason not to. Being forced to take something apart + put it back together again gives you a deeper + more profound understanding and connection than someone who’s never had a problem at all.

Interesting. I'd like to ask him at some point and test your theory.

he did a pretty good job here demonstrating a lack of understanding of critical theological doctrines. Its a good start.

His problem is he’s a Catholic and they don’t tend to have the answers.

Its certainly evident in this example. I don't think I mentioned it in the video but quoting a former atheist and never Catholic as the source of his understanding was...odd.
