Brilliant! I started today on making Dempsey stand behind me when I open the door. When I had Staffordshire Bull Terriers I wouldn't have dreamt of letting them go first, but I kind of let Mr Dempsey off with stuff. He got it second time around because this young man is smart and I could have him juggling and playing the trombone if I made more of an effort. So I will. It's great that people sent you such fantastic art but I didn't think fast enough to realise that you might show all of them.😬 .So, I'll be self isolating in a cupboard, changing my name, and pretending I don't speak English for the foreseeable future. 💖🐶Keep safe Birdies.💖

Sup Dude oh no, naughty Lola. Now is the time to learn YOU are the boss 😆 let me know how the belly exercise goes. Do it every single day and if she is super assertive she’ll really hate it and struggle a lot. If that happens, I recommend to sweeten the deal a little by giving her a tiny little treat ONLY if and when she stops struggling and lays still for you belly up. 😎😁

I know on the rare occasion someone dog sits my chi I’m told he does amazing, no growling, barking or baring teeth. But if I’m around he takes a little longer warming up to people, and he has to be reminded that’s not ok. He’s a rescue (and his back legs are paralyzed) so it’s a work in progress! I have learned that Chihuahuas are amazing little dogs where previously I only had big dogs. 💕💕💕

Isn't that so funny? It's similar to the way kids are ill behaved for their parents but when a babysitter comes over, they're on their best behavior. LOL. Chihuahuas are very stubborn and extremely loyal to their "pack" which is generally made up of humans. LOL I used to only love big dogs as well. And then I fell in love with my very first Chihuahua, it was all over! I'm so grateful to you for giving a second chance to a paralyzed rescue. You're a wonderful person. 😍

I was given a 4 year old Chihuahua by my girlfriend's sister. Since she gave birth she couldn't take care of him anymore. He is very friendly and likes to play with anyone, but he is scared of dogs, even dogs smaller than him. I had the same thought of Chihuahuas been very annoying. They are sometimes, but ever since I got one I fell in love with them.

as a kid when I got my chiuahuah he’s white and a apple head he’s been my best friend ever since, and he’s always so grumpy or angry and I feel so bad because I think he’s so angry cause I was so excited as a kid so I bothered and playing with him everyday which I think is why he is so mad everyday at me and I cry a lot thinking he hates me and knowing he will pass away soon with hate for me 😔

Aww awesome video & adorable chi😍 wanted to ask ya I mentioned to ya before that I have a new pup since my 2 other chihuahua's were naughty lol but now hes 4wks old almost 5 & its werid because my chihuahuas are deer head and this one I swear seems like such an apple head. So my question is is it possible 2 deerhead chihuahua's mate and create a apple head? Could it be from the Gene's from them? Lol & looking forward to more of your videos ❤

Nikki Saint thanks so much! ❤️ So yes, absolutely, it is possible for two deer heads to produce an applehead. The genetic make up of each dog varies greatly based on all their ancestry. It’s likely somewhere in their ancestry is an Applehead genes so maybe the baby got more of the Applehead genes passed down from a grand parent rather than the deer head shape from mom and dad. Also though the puppies nose does tend to get longer as he gets older so it could look like an Applehead now and then as it gets older it might grow into more of a deer head looking snout.

Hi Kelly. Our gorgeous 7 and half week old chihaha sometimes play bites/ chews our hands when playing or when we pat him. He sometimes bites my chin while giving puppy kisses. He's not growling or being aggressive .He also chews our clothes potty pads. He has chew toys. What do you suggest we do . Thanks

Nicole B hello, nice to hear from you and thanks for your comment. So yes, it’s super common for a young puppy to want to bite and try to chew on fingers and toes (chins 😂). It takes some time and consistency for them to learn not to. He’s just being playful and doesn’t realize how sharp his teeth are. If left unchecked, it becomes a much bigger problem as they get bigger. So the way a mommy dog deals with this is by correcting her puppy by snapping at him when he bites down too hard. It only takes a couple times being snapped at before a puppy realizes mommy doesn’t want them to bite. The mamma doesn’t bite down hard when she snaps, it’s just a quick yet soft warning bite accompanied by a mean sounding snarl which is dog language for “DON’T DO THAT”. But since puppies don’t speak English, he needs to learn the meaning of your verbal command “no”. I recommend extreme patience while he’s figuring out what no means. Next time he opens his mouth to play bite and clamps down on your skin, simply say “no bite” in a firm, but not intimidating voice. As you say it lightly tap the tip of his nose with your finger tip. Then redirect him immediately to play with a chew toy or tug of war rope. The tap on the nose needs to not hurt him, because that would just teach him to be scared of you. It’s a very light tap, only meant as a redirection. And then the redirection should immediately follow with positive interactions that you should praise him for. Biting down on the chew toys is just fine, sweet boy. Just be super consistent with this and he will eventually learn that he’s allowed to chomp down onto toys and tug-of-war ropes, just not on your hands, fingers, chin, or toes. I hope that helps. Hahaha i have one and she loves me and everyone mentions it. She hates hates hates my brother like she goes for his face if she can, and my mom and brother swear i trained her to do that to him when i didn’t. I do try to but it stop to it. He hates me for some odd reason so i know she senses that. She just uses him to pick her up and look at food 😂

Dogs are really good at reading humans emotions. She is likely sensing both your brothers emotions, and your own. She feels protective over you. She definitely loves you. It’s nice to be loved so much ❤️

My 5 pound Chihuahua is starting to bite and draw blood after 7yrs old. I think its because a dog is in heat across the street. If I don't find a mate for him soon I'm definitely neutering to maybe combat that aggression

Oh yes that is very likely the culprit. He might be using aggression as a way to “claim” her as his own. He definitely can not get away with biting. That must be corrected right away. If he bites again, or acts like he’s about to bite, I recommend you immediately roll him over onto his back and firmly hold him there until he stops struggling while you say “NO BITE“. This exercise is dog language for showing who is boss. If he struggles, it means he is challenging you. When he stops struggling it means he has agreed that you are boss. Don’t hurt him doing it, juts get down on his level and be firm with him using his own language. I wish you the very best.

my long haired apple head male chihuahua is a big chihuahua not the small ones you see, and he will snarl, bark and charge everyone in the family except me, I walk and feed him, he is fiercely loyal to me and offers belly whenever I come near him. he was definitely not bred for show, he is at the bigger end of the scale for height and weight and gets walked 3 times a day, the breeder I got him off is Kennel club registered and she dislikes the teacup 😂

That’s ok. The bigger ones make just as good of pets, and they’re definitely a little heartier than the tinies. However, it sounds to me like he thinks he is beta. He knows you’re alpha so he gives you belly up submission position, be he snarks and barks and charges at everyone else who comes near you because he thinks it’s his job to protect you. He should learn he is not beta, the other humans should be above him in the ranks. That will take a lot of training, but it’s pretty important. That behavior is what gives chihuahuas a bad reputation and it can also cause family strife. I wish you and your sweetie pie the very best.

Think the bad reputation is mostly cause humans failed the animal. Well cared dog that get his all needs fulfilled wont behave badly or be aggressive. It`s humans fault 95% of the time. Some just take puppy cause its cute but wont do any research about the breed: activity level, coat , training, is it working/companion/herding dog... breed`s needs vary a lot. Also think does dog`s activity level, care requirements fit for your daily life.

Rae Lee oh no, what a naughty girl! Sounds like she’s trying to train you that she’s the boss. You’re going to need to establish yourself as boss. What do you do when she bites you? That deserves an immediate belly up position until she submits and stoops struggling. Also since she isn’t respecting your words, I recommend you use a more commanding sound along with your NO. You can put rocks in a water bottle and carry it around with you and shake it loudly as you say “no”. The goal is to snap her to attention. Be consistent, every single time she growls, immediately and firmly say “NO” while shaking the bottle. If she bites, “NO”, shake the bottle AND make her go belly up. She MUST learn that she is not the boss.

I will do the bottle thing and I have been consistent with everything but she just will not listen and I am trying to nip it right now. She is only calm and sweet late at night and early in the morning but from like 12-6 she is possessed. So it is frustrating and I am trying not to give up. She has plenty of chew toys but she rather chew on everything else including me. Thank for the quick response.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog's ear. A German Shepherd took off 2 of my Chihuahua's toes! It was a terrible tragedy and I had to rush her to the emergency. She now walks around on half a foot. It's very sad and I was very upset with this particular German Shepherd, but I recognize not all of them are bad. Similarly, not all Chihuahuas are bad.
