Thanks you! One of the pumps on my hot tub does exactly as you describe. It gets very hot to the touch, so hot you can’t leave your hand on it for more than a second or so. It could take 2 hours, 2 days, 8 hours, 3 hours, etc. But in the end the breaker always shuts off. Time to change the motor I’d say. Funny thing is no “pool/hot tub professional” ever suggested it. They always pointed to the GFI breaker, which has been changed three times. But the same thing happened each time!

We just turned our pump on for the very first time and it did this! I haven't even made the first payment on the pool yet.

MY water pump doesn't rotate, but it goes back and forth, it's like Vibrating or something, do you think you know what that could be?, it's a pool water pump, and the winding of the motor is sealed in plastic, cannot be accessed without cutting it, however it has some circuit board in a separate box.

By grease do you mean the coating/insulation on the copper wires of the windings ?
@Swimmingpoolsteve8 жыл бұрын
+Video Québec Yes, the magnet wire insulation (enameled), dielectric grease or polymer film insulation

should I bring my pump in over winter time
@Swimmingpoolsteve4 жыл бұрын
That depends. If it is an above ground pump they just plug in and take two seconds to move, so sure why the heck not. If you have a hard wired pump then I usually just say no. The do not need it, but just as with anything else that weathers outside it will dull the color and surface rust will happen etc. But millions of people leave them out. Do not wrap them with a tarp, like an AC unit that just holds the moisture in. A cover if anything, but not needed.
