After Daksha humiliated the lord Shiva the Devi Sati destroyed her body by her own cosmic fire, from that the custom of Sati started. The widow who are willing to do only they perform that custom just like in Mahabharata Madri took Sati but not Kunti after the death of Pandu. But in the middle age the scholars and society misinterpreted it and make it compulsory to all women, gradually this custom became Evil Custom. Sati became more aggressive after the Islamic invasion in India where defeated kingdom's queen perform mass scale sati, why only sati not poisoning or other methods because most of the islamic invaders were necrophile, same thing Taliban did so to women dead bodies. In the end it's the women who suffers the centuries. Have Faith not Blind-Faith.
