She has that Usain Bolt quality where she looks like she's not even trying her hardest - she's just larking about some of the time, winking to the cameras etc. Of course she trains incredibly hard, but it looks so effortless. Perfect back-story too. I wouldn't wish the childhood she suffered even on my worst enemy - but you get the feeling that tough, tough upbringing has made her realise just how lucky she is to have the talent she has.

@@heatherlory99 Well, to be fair, she was adopted at a pretty early age by her grandparents, who raised her in a loving, nurturing home. She definitely had her struggles early on, but there are some -- such as boxer Claressa Shields -- who had it even harder. Not taking anything away from Simone; she's the undisputed G.O.A.T. in her sport, maybe among all athletes. But we should probably keep the story in perspective.

Simone Biles is an inspiration, an absolute inspiration. I can not even come close to her achievements but I understand the obstacles she has had to over come in life. Our pasts are quite similar, abandonment, family addictions, being fatherless, foster care, bullied and patronized for being smaller. It is not about how we start but how we finish that makes us champions. Over come fear, others expectations and labels and self doubt, work hard and you will find the champion in you to achieve your dreams and dismiss the impossible like this 19 year old woman is doing right here and now at the Olympics in Rio.

Amazing job! Simone is fantastic & I hope the very best for her. There is so much work and practice that go with success like this. Simone definitely has inborn talent for gymnastics, but the rest is sweat, determination, and endless practice. Any parent of a gymnast will attest to the family sacrifices of practices, competitions, cost, etc. There is a lot that happened before Simone got to the Olympics. Yet, she made it. Congratulations to Simone and to her family.

I really like that Nasia's one of the commenters. Goodness knows how great she might have been one day. But no-one would know about performing at that level (or as close as you can get) better than Nastia. And I love that she recognizes that Simone's only competing against herself. So true. :) Watching Simone in these videos is so great. She's seemed like the GOAT for a while now, and I'd say she solidified in Tokyo. If she can manage to get over some of these difficulties it's hard to imagine where the future could take her. The sky's the limit.

I was so happy to see Simone at the 2016 Rio Olympics, but I think some people forgot that she was part of a duo with Katelyn Ohoshi. Both of them are truly amazing and it would have been even more ground breaking to see the two best gymnasts in the world at one event.
