Are SDGs same as MDGs?

Nope! So MDGs are the Millennium Development Goals which were founded way before SDGs seeking to achieve 0 poverty. However, they failed to meet the deadline (2015) so they decided to hold another world meeting and change the name of MDGs to SDGs and change their target, now to be more sustainable hence the name Sustainable Development Goals with a new target deadline. MDGs: 8 goals SDGs: 17 goals So don’t look at them as the same thing, but more of that MDGs was a ‘stepping stone’ for all countries to figure out that there are too little indicators and hence a need to transition into SDGs instead.

A Level Lessons ohhhhh so can I conclude that SDGs are almost same as post 2015 development goals as stated in the syllabus ?

@@vanyeo1137 Yes! SDGs are the same as the post 2015 development goals haha! SDGs = Post 2015 Development Goals MDGs = Pre/Before 2015 Development Goals.
