Try making sure that you are using the tip of your 3rd finger and check that you're managing to bend it so it's not too flat. Check your wrist position too. If you're not holding the guitar properly you may find that your wrist is not positioned right and therefore you're going to have some problems fingering the chord correctly. Good luck!

This was the very last common chord I got down in my learning days. It was just brutal for me with small hands. I played C as XX2010 for a long time as a workaround. It works (still a C chord), but I like the 5 string version better, the C3 note makes it sound so much more full. It's worth working on until you master it.

Might I add that the ring finger is the weakest finger on our hand , we simply don’t use it independently very often and so when you’re trying to stretch it and make it do what you want that’s where it’s becoming difficult. Thank you for explaining that the E string isn’t involved ...because for some reason I keep hitting it while I’m trying to learn heart of Gold by Neil Young,.it sounded so terrible and I could not figure out why... lol thank you and usubscribed to your channel

Great teaching method for beginners. Get used to moving your fingers around. at first it is not that easy to coordinate the position of your fingers. Keep at it and it WILL come. It doesn't come without effort, but it is worth it. great lesson.

How funny, I thought I was the only one that struggled with C major, lol 😁 Which, as a pianist learning guitar, was SUPER frustrating, since that's the easiest piano chord😄 I think the skipped string with the index finger messed me up, I kept grabbing all 3 strings in a row, ugh! What actually helped me, was a video on KZbin that showed moving from A minor to C major, just reaching with the ring finger,& back- I did that over and over and over, ad nauseum, ha ha, but finally got it! This is a great idea too, and just confirmed my suspicion that I'm playing c add 9 in a song I just learned, that had no available charts😉💖

Thnx dear good tutorial...can u plz also write whats logic behing playing c note with 3 strings at 1st 2nd and 3rd fret? It wll b vry helpful
@yga4 жыл бұрын
Happy to help, could you rephrase the question? I didn’t quite understand you 😀
@coolcalm5824 жыл бұрын
@@yga oh thnx sir, actually my question is what is the logic behind or science behind pressing 2nd 4th nd 5th string on 1st 2nd and 3rd fret respectively while playing C scale or C note. Same with A scale as we press 2nd 3rd and 4th string on second fret. I am clear with major scales but with this A, C, D, E, F , G i am confused why they are played with unique pattern whats science behind it. hope this clears.👍🙏
@yga4 жыл бұрын
I think it’s possible you are mixing up chords and scales. A scale is a set of notes that you play one after the other, whilst a chord is a set of notes you play together to creat that chord sound. So the C major scale is all 7 notes, C D E F G A B C, which you play individually, whilst the C major chord is just the C E and G from that scale, played together. Does that make sense??
@coolcalm5824 жыл бұрын
@@yga ok thanks that was nice explaination....i wanted to about individual note like only C only A only D when played individually why there is different pattern to hold multiple strings on different frets like for individual A note we press 2nd 3rd nd 4th string on 2nd fret. So basically i nedd to know science behind playing individual notes.🙏

Hi - truly a beginner here coming from a piano background. I noticed that your thumb position was flat against the neck for most of these chords. I find it easier to play that way also for some chords also, but have seen a lot of tutorials recommending a more vertical thumb position. Is there a "correct" way? Does it really matter? Thanks for the great lesson!
@yga2 жыл бұрын
Hey, with the thumb behind the neck its very much a personal preference, certain thumb positions led themselves better to certain style but if its comfy and works then its no worries! 🤟

@yga4 жыл бұрын
Haha! Hi Roni, yes if you have that finger type then of course this will be harder. I would definitely suggest using your little finger on the first note (C - 3rd fret of A string) to help you get the stretch right. Other than that, it's simply a case of slowly working with it, using the track in the lesson, and you'll get there! 🙏🙏

Hey, If it feel like you've really got to grip the neck hard maybe take a few steps back and try just one finger at a time making sure that your hand is nice and relaxed before adding the next, if you feel the tension coming back stay on that many fingers until it feel comfortable :)

Playing is fine, but switching from Em or D or G or any other chords is quite difficult.
@guitar.forbeginners.withdave3 жыл бұрын
switching from C to G chord doesn't require too much hand movement if you're using the version of G that uses the 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers. It's also easier going to Em when playing G with those fingers.
