This is crazy. I was huge into reefing a decade ago and loved my Osmolator back then. Now planning my dream in wall 1000 gallon tank and starting to look at all of the new tech, its still here!!!! wow.

How big is the sensor unit? Will it fit in the back area of a Waterbox 20 cube?
@BRStv4 жыл бұрын
We don't have any Waterbox tanks to measure, but the main magnet for the Osmolator sensor is roughly 2.5" in diameter.
@Wilfried78 Жыл бұрын
Five star rating, standing ovation, still mine failed due to a serious design flaw: It has a main optical sensor, and a second float sensor that prevents it from accidentally overflowing if the main optical sensor fails. However, mine failed the other way round, in the off position. It thought my water level was fine, while it was too low. I came home to burnt return pump because it was running dry. That is why I am looking for a similar ATO system with three sensors. Preferably with three float sensors, because optical sensor will always fail sooner or later.
@rja97843 жыл бұрын
Mine seems to turn on without pouring water into the tank. Any idea why this is happening?
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
When you plug the ATO in and the pump turns on to prime, give it some good shakes to wiggle any air loose. It's usually air in the pump that causes this. Otherwise, make sure that you're not trying to pump water more than 7' vertically.
@marc83454 жыл бұрын
Killer for me and why I sold it, the pump when the ato reservoir runs dry and you refill doesn’t pump water. It doesn’t self prime

Does the 3155 have an internal shut off timer like the nano? If so what time limit is it? About what flow rate does it have if the 3155 is set to the lowest setting?
@BRStv2 жыл бұрын
The 3155 does have an internal timer of about 10 minutes. The flow rate is hard to say for sure because it will depend greatly on how high you're pumping vertically. The farther it has to pump vertically, the lower the flow rate will be.

@@BRStv one last thing. Can I have the width size of the inner magnet? Planning to use it in a tight space.

Quick question. I have a 15g mixed reef. I only want the water level to only be able to drop about 1/8" before the ATO would kick on. Is it possible to fine tune how much water drops before kicking on?
@BRStv3 жыл бұрын
With most ATO systems, you won't have that level of control. That said, the water level doesn't drop a whole lot with the optical eye in the Osmolator 3155. It might be slightly more than 1/8", however.

does the pump fit into the neck of a 25l tub?
@BRStv4 жыл бұрын
The pump is about 2" in diameter at it's widest point, so it'll depend on the size of the neck of your container.

Which tunze should I get for a biocube 16?
@BRStv4 жыл бұрын
Either will work, but I like the 3155 due to the optical eye and float backup. If you go that route, just make sure you open the controller and turn the flow all the way down to the nano setting

I have this ATO on my standard 90 and its seeming to have an issue with with air traveling back down to the pump and causing an issue with the pump losing its ability to pump without shaking the air our of the pump to get it going again, i had another a few years ago on my 180 and did not have this issue any ideas?

Be careful when using Kalk Comps last a year or less even when you clean them I’m on my third pump but I do love the ATO but like I said I don’t feel the pumps last very well
@BRStv4 жыл бұрын
You're right, kalk is definitely hard on ATO pumps. If you have kalk in your ATO reservoir, I'd advise reefers to budget for a pump replacement every year or two, regardless of ATO brand. Good news is that the Tunze replacement pumps are pretty inexpensive.

Thing is a giant piece of crap.... I went through 4 of the 3155s one bad pump and 3 bad circuit boards. none were ever in my sump area. And now my nano tunze that I use for my small QT is also shitting the bed. It doesn't detect low water and the pump only pumps if you unplug it and plug it back in. I will never again get another tunze product
