Why is there no "historical criticism" of the Qur'an as there is of the Bible?

Also, why do Muslims hesitate to "adapt" the Qur'an to the needs of the modern age?

@@albertnehmat7093 Look, brother. The hatred within you has taken over all of you. The notion that God sent a prophet to arabs is very disturbing and offensive for both Jews and western people. It has to do with the culture and skin color. Western culture wants to be their own gods. Nobody can stop you from this. You are human beings and as equal as I am as creation. Nobody can judge you but God. If you want to believe in the bible as the way of salvation, so be it. You have all my respect. I am a medical doctor and so was Keith Moore and also a professor in embryology. He read those verses that you ridicule and if you are a medical doctor you will understand how profound they are. Regarding the rib cage and man emerging from there, it is simply because western people don't know arabic, there it clearly states that man came forward from between the backbone and ribs which is exactly where the uterus (womb) is located and during childbirth man indeed comes forward from there, Moore became a muslim. To just google and find "claimed" contradictions is not enough. Look, I had the same problem as you. I coudn't believe an arab became a prophet. What I did was imagining a man, illiterate, from the 6-7th century in the arabian dessert suddenly preaching these verses. When you read the quran in that sense. There will come alot of things that will shock you that you have to answer in order to dismiss it. Furthermore You really have to deal with the concept of trinity. Something so profound as the core of christian believe shoud be openly stated in the book of God. And also the philosophical concept of trinity is not in line with any monotheistic belief system on earth ever. How come God created everything and then he missguided people or more plainly, he kept the truth a secret and then sent his son who also kept it in the shadow and then when the son was gone suddenly Paul comes and says, Hey guys, Jesus forgot to mention this and that and also don't listen to him because he tells me I have authority now. You know, I wouldn't but my afterlife in the hands of such a man, if you do, with all due respect I wish you the best.

Google names of God in Islam, there are 99 of them as mentioned in Qur'an, also these are only those mentioned in Qur'an. And it's common for people to ask if Allah is God in Islam, what was God called in Arabic before Muhammad pbuh? Well, god in Arabic is ilah or elah, so as a worshipper of the one true God, you testify that there's no elah except Allah, ie no god but The God. One and only. Also, Islam didn't start with Muhammad pbuh, it was and always has been the religion of the prophets from Adam, Noah, down to Ibrahim, Moses, Jesus and finally Muhammad Allah bless them all.

Paul, I find your content utterly fascinating. Subjective "feelings driven" arguments so often enter the arena of debate; arguments that start with the search for a particular outcome, instead of the truth, as a goal. Your methodology, one of scholarly representation, objectivism and etiquette, is extraordinarily refreshing. Thank you for this video 🙏 In the Bible the narration of the word of God is always according to somebody. The gospel ‘ According to John. The gospel According to Paul etc. Different versions of events by the many disciplines of Jesus and how they remembered events. (Like the Hadith). The Quran on the other hand is direct and only one voice narrates the entire Quran. Only Allah speaks in the Quran. None of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) are quoted directly or indirectly in the Quran. Muhammad (SAW) does not narrate the Quran. We learn about him in the verses. As we learn about Moses, Jesus (AS) etc. Moses (AS) is mentioned more times than Muhammad (SAW). If Muhammad (SAW) is the narrator of the Quran as some Christians believe would he not have mentioned himself more often? Allah refers to Himself as I and We in the Quran. We learn about about events which have come to pass which Prophet Muhammad (SAW) would never have known. Things like the sea/waters that never mix. planets, the sheer size and scale of the stars etc. Taking full credit for the narration. Allah recounts past events, foretells future events, tells us about the 🌍 , the beauty of the Angels “like scattered pearls “, the evil of Satan, the seen, the unseen and warns about sin and the punishment that awaits sinners in the afterlife. HE also tells us about the rewards that HE has prepared for the believers and the do gooders whether Muslim, Christian or Jew. The Quran is not just a book, it’s a comprehensive reference book, a guidance and a way of living for Muslims. A chapter for every life lesson from the foetus in the womb to death and beyond is covered in the Quran. Every time you read the Quran you learn something new. There is no religious book that can ever be compared to the Quran as there is no other book that has been recited by the Almighty Creator, except the Quran. Yes l have read the Bible (both versions).

@@wilfredsaldanha8238, stop being ignorant and disregarding the truth because of arrogance. Muhammad (blessings of Allah be upon him and peace) was the original conveyer of the message of Islam. The Quran is the word of Allah according to Muhammed but also according to those who memorized his words. In addition, the Quran is also according to Abu Bakr who compiled its verses into writing. The Quran was later revised by caliph Uthman who burned all other versions of the Quran except his own. The Arabic Quran of today should therefore be called, "The Revised Version of Caliph Uthman." Watch the KZbin video, "The First Burn the Quran Day" for an expose' of how the Quran was created by Arabs.

And the Prophet's uncle Abu Talib believed that the religion of the Prophet was the best religion of the people and he died with that belief yet Allah SWT did not allow the prophet to pray for him because he was not a believer. Shiekh Muhammad Salih Al-Munajjid said: If a person accepts Islam out of conviction , and begins to practice it, then he is a muslim, even if he doesn't register his Islam officially, or go to a court or Islamic center to obtain documentation, or announce it to others. If such a person dies, then we hope for Paradise for him and pray for mercy for him. I hope that this is sufficient for you my brother in Islam. Salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah.

It’s very important to note that Islam doesn’t claim that it’s a new religion but rather a continuation of the two previous Abrahamic religions. What it alleges, though, is that it came to correct the misconceptions and hearsay that seeped into those religions. As a word, Islam means peace and submission to God.

It is a not a continuation why you trying to make the quran sound relevant? The shit copies everything from the Bible and from old Jewish stories that didn’t qualify to be in the Bible and then Mohamed claims he got revelations. It can’t a be a continuation yet deny almost everything about the books prio to it and make up a completely new ideology whilst borrowing texts from the same books that it claims are not fit. Madness and confusing is what I call Islam.

@@dwacts17apologetics54 you already know it's absurd to say it copied other books since there was no way of that since no jew who lived in Arabia accused Muhammad of such. He was illiterate he didn't write It by his own hands, he would just recite it and his companions would write that down on the spot. They never knew when will new revelation come. Its so absurd there is no word to explain how idiotic your claims are except i remain silent about that. Its pretty much logical that it came to fix its predecessors since Bible or should i say Injeel was turned into Bible, and Injeel was original Book which was is in arameic, which Romans changed completely into latin which is also one sign of plagiarism. Also Torah isnt just part of Bible as old script but they have their own remainings which jews read on their religious events. Its really wierd to say jews and christians since both books were intented to jews, 'Isaa was jew by his mother and was sent to jews to make some laws easier on them. Qur'an describes their laws in details how Allah ordered them to do. Qur'an came to complete originals not these pale copies that were changed over and over again. So in their root they all share same Source that is God One and Only, and messegners who all had same mission, to call people to worship Allah only. If they all share the same message which was unfortunately changed by their people who were idiots that didnt want to accept Allahs rules how can you say that anything is copied since it comes from the same Source? Nonsense. It just came to correct all changes they have made out of their hipocrisy and to show them that they can't ever overshadow Allahs true rulership.

@@amersekic8535 first of all I like how you choose an area less contradictory, you are forcing the narrative by skipping areas I want you to talk about. Talk about how fake the dude was, prophecies are not supposed to be personal, but for some reason everything he revealed was designed to cater his needs.... he’s says only 4 wives but he gets 11 😂😂😂😂. He marries his adopted child wife and some how allah shows him a prophecy that make it okay. This dude made allah ( the Muslim good) look very childish and always changing his mind clearly this allah can’t see the future because he tells him this then later on changes and tell him that. So either the allah is fake or Mohamed was making up things he sees fit. He’s the worse curse the earth has ever had. Everything about him is terrible, his life choices, he’s greedy and hate, nothing about this guy makes an average personal better if he chooses to follow him. He calls Christians and Jews and the unbelievers the worse of creatures and that they should be killed unless they accept and surrender to Allah and Mohamed. Why would God force you to love him? Why would God want you to do his work if he’s all powerful and all knowing? Of course the muslim allah is weak that he seeks mere muhamads to do his job. Same Muslims you find them hating the west because of the lifestyle yet fight and risk their lives to get here. If Islam is soo perfect why don’t Muslims stick to their majorities and have peace and harmony there? Truth is their regimes are backwards and have behaviors that don’t support a modern society and Mohamed is to blame for that. If you see all religion from a critical point of view, Islam is the worse because they have no grounds to stand on.

Ask yourself why one muslim has won a nobel prize for science in the last one hundred years. Population 1.7billion. 43 Jewish scientists out of 15million have won it. That should tell you a story. @@derekallen4568 I don't know what your comment has to do with this thread. I suppose you want to say that there is a correlation between winning the Nobel prize and the religion which the winner follows. I won't argue whether that is or is not a discriminatory opinion, but I ask you to consider an alternative correlation. About one fifth of Nobel laureates have been Jewish. Also, well over 90% of all the winners, regardless of religion, have been of European descent. About 95% of Jewish winners have not been Israelis. And only four or five of the Jewish winners have been Mizrahim, about 2% of all Jewish laureates. So maybe the stronger correlation is between being a Westerner and winning the Nobel prize. This makes more sense as at this point in history, the Western world is much more advanced. If being Jewish were the stronger factor, one would have expected to see a lot more Mizrahim winners. Having said all of this, there is no denying that (mainly Western) Jews are vastly overrepresented as laureates, which is probably the result of their overrepresentation in academia. This is probably a very positive cultural trait. Let's hope it remains that way, as humanity is very much indebted to them. Have a great day, my friend 🌹🌹

I believe this needs to be answered or at least responded to in the very basic manner, the question you left in the video description. Within Islamic faith, there are few core beliefs that supersedes everything else. One of them is accepting and knowing by heart that everything is by the will of god. Whether you understand it (meaning, if you know why something happens) or not. If someone dives deep into the interpretation on quran will find that it's verses can be categorised into several classes. Some are about fundamental islamic beliefs like the Sura Ekhlas (3rd chapter from the last), some verses contain rulings and guidelines about daily lives, economics, state running, rules of war, raising family etc, some verses are about historical events, some are spiritual guidelines, warnings etc. And there is also a category of verses which don't seem to belong to the above classes. They seem to provide a glimps to some higher form of knowledge but then stays very short and concise. As if allah wants the reader to ponder upon these verses and try to interpret them in the right context, like why allah has said this, what allah actually hinting us these with, or what exactly it indicates to. This is where modern science opens the door to many answers. As we understand, in science there is nothing as a definitive last word, because everything is subject to change based on new knowledge. The more science advances, the more knowledge it creates and we have newer perspective to look at things. So science actually works as a tool to interpret quran. Then again, if something can't be alligned with todays scientific discoveries, then Muslim go back to the original belief, "everything is by god's will. If we can't explain it, then perhaps our study of nature isn't close enough". So in that sense, there's nothing like a modern adaptation of quran. Instead, we are in a constant journey to a complete understanding of the quran. This angle actually welcomes more effort into study and research of the things that are still unanswered.

Wonderful insight into diferent scriptures. Just one point, what people understand about things can change and over time, what was seen as an important tradition to be guarded, in modern times can see seen for what it really re-presents, take for instance the tradition of not putting ones mouth on a bottle of water when drinking it, no one back at the time knew how bacteria spread and grow on surfaces, but now we know what is actually happening when we leave saliva on the utensils we use. So we can know more deeply things that were just seen as a tradition to follow and protect, so we do not need to walk around in ignorant blind faith if knowledge gives us a clearer under-standing why to act correctly. Many Islamic traditions are now just followed blinding while ignoring the greater truths they hold, so have become empty hollow actions, that hold no intrinsic value to life, devoid of their proper purposes.

@@albertnehmat7093 Today, we will be talking about a scientific fact, mentioned in the Quran, regarding the male reproductive system. It is important to point out that while the Quran is not a science textbook, many of the latest scientific discoveries that were revealed in Quranic passages 1400 years ago. This is in stark contrast with the Bible, which contains numerous scientific errors (due to corruption by the scribes: (Jer 8:8, Mat 5:20, 23:13). For example, regarding genetics, in Genesis 30:37-42, Jacob changes the characteristics of animal offspring by having their parents look at white stripes while mating. FIRST We will examine the Quranic verse that describes the location of seminal fluid prior to being discharged. Literal translation of Quran 86:6-7: { (Man is) created from gushing water (which) comes out from between the backbone * and the ribs *. } * from Al Qamoos, Lisan Al Arab, etc In other words, just prior to gushing or coming out of the body, seminal fluid is located between the backbone and the ribs. At first glance, a layman might think that SEMEN comes out from the testicles. While the SPERM is produced in the testicles, NEITHER is the sperm NOR is the seminal fluid (essential for natural fertilization) anywhere near them prior to ejaculation. The verse specifically mentions the entire fluid, and not just the sperm “component”. So let’s examine the process of emission, where all the components of semen are joined. Sperm is stored in the epididymis, which is not in the testicles, but above them. The Sperm which comprises 2 to 5% of the seminal fluid, , travels from the epididymis up through the Vas Deferens duct and around the bladder. Together, the seminal vesicle and the prostate gland produce 90% of the fluid in semen. This mixture travels through the prostate and is joined by mucus from the bulbourethral glands, just below the prostate. www.webmd.com/sex-relationships/guide/male-reproductive-system?page=2 en.allexperts.com/e/s/se/semen.htm  en.allexperts.com/e/e/ej/ejaculation.htm It is at this point that semen is fully formed, comprising both the sperm and the seminal fluids. As we can see, just prior to coming out of the body, all components of semen are mixed near the prostate, which is centered in the body, between the backbone and the ribs, or between the spine and the chest, which is between the back and front of the abdomen or torso, and most certainly not in the testicles or in the lower body at all. Someone might object by saying: the ribs are too high to say “the prostate is between the backbone & the ribs.” To this objection, we answer that: the head is still between the shoulders even though it is too high, & the genitals are still between the legs, even though they are too high. Now let’s check the verse again. { (Man is) created from gushing water (which) comes out from between the backbone * and the ribs *. } This precise scientific description could not have been known 1400 years ago, and even today most people don’t know it, as we will see next. SECOND We will examine some false claims regarding the scientific accuracy of this verse. In reference to this verse, answering-islam.org quotes mistake by Dr. William Campbell: “…we are left with the very real problem that the SEMEN IS COMING FROM the back or kidney area and not THE TESTICLES.” answering-islam.org/Quran/Science/semenproduction.htm www.answering-islam.org/Campbell/s4c2b.html In fact, SEMEN does NOT come from the testicles. (only the SPERM is produced there, which comprises 2-5% of semen). And as we saw earlier, SEMEN IS ACTUALLY FORMED NEAR THE PROSTATE. Next, let’s also listen to the false claims of the person discussislam: “This description reflects the view of Hippocrates, common in the 5th century…that SEMEN comes from all the fluid of the body & passes through the kidneys on the way to the penis. We now know that it comes from the testicles.” First of all, DISCUSSISLAM also falsely claims semen comes from the testicles “We now know that it comes from the testicles”. It’s astonishing how those attacking Islam make the same layman errors, without checking their facts. In any case, The Quran does not contain the scientific errors of Hippocrates view 1) That Semen comes from all the fluid in the body. 2) That Semen passes through the kidneys. As such, contrary to DISCUSSISLAM’s misrepresentation, there is no similarity whatsoever, between this Quranic passage, and the view of Hippocrates. Furthermore, let’s examine some more of Hippocrates related scientific errors, that are again NOT in the Quran: 1) sperm originate in the brain 2) men & women produce sperm 3) “healthy” sperm is produced by healthy parts of the body 4) stronger sperm results in males, weaker sperm results in females IN CONCLUSION The Quran clearly mentions the scientific fact, before it was known, about where semen becomes fully formed before “gushing” out. Semen includes the sperm AND seminal fluids, which are BOTH absolutely required for natural fertilization. The Quran accurately states that this fluid (gushing water) is between the backbone and the ribs prior to coming out of the body, as seen from the profile view of the male anatomy. Those attempting to discredit this Quranic verse, simply demonstrate their own lack of scientific knowledge regarding the male reproductive system. In addition, trying to ascribe the numerous scientific accuracies from the Quran, to philosophers like Hippocrates, who could rarely AVOID scientific errors on any matter, is obviously quite ridiculous. As we have demonstrated, misrepresenting both the scientific facts, and the views of ancient societies, is not only the strategy but a fundamental requirement for people attempting to refute the Quran’s overwhelming signs.

Good point at 5.56, and I quote you "The passage of centuries cannot erode the words of God, that after all is the point of a divine intervention in the affairs of this world. The Revelation is located in time, but it is itself timeless". On the passage of time, people have really not changed with the passing of time. Two, three, five thousand years ago people faced the same toils and challenges that we have today. We may work in a factory, office or farm carrying a mobile phone but we face the same life challenges as people of the ancient world, only they had different tools. They got married, had families, got sick, travelled to markets etc and we do the same. The fundamental principle of "Mankind on this earth and his relationship with his Lord" remains the same.

There is indeed a further question that must be asked about Akhtar's statement and it concerns this line: "addressed to a man, fully known to his contemporaries and to subsequent history *a man living in only two geographical locations in the same country."* We may fairly ask that if these "two geographical locations" that are the "only" places he "lived in", being "Mecca" and "Medina", where is an original ancient map of this period, around the 7th century, with these cities labelled on it, to prove that these locations actually existed? There exist some later and modern maps which have placed these two locations on what is supposed to be a rendition of a 7th century map, but can anyone actually prove it from an original map, or was Mecca either a non existent or irrelevant location if it is not marked on any authentic 7th century map? The point is, that if Mecca cannot be identified on an authentic map of the early centuries, then this calls into serious question, the Islamic historical narrative that claims that Mecca in Saudi Arabia is the birthplace of these things! Can anyone find such a valid map (not a later rendition with Mecca marked on it, but the map from the actual time period)? If no such map exists, then the story of Islam and Mecca cannot in fact be true as we have received it!
