The ban is there for a very good reason, which is a systematic and willful failure to enforce mandatory regulations. The aircraft might be new and in top condition now..the question is how it will be in a few years when the typically very relaxed approach to maintennance and safety bulletins has had a chance to take effect.

this. people can call racism or whatever they want, but like when i fly a battered-down a320 that is rocking so hard while rolling in a calm wind situation that the engines are close to hitting the ground, no autopilot the entire 2hr flight, full flaps while still crusing altitude... like no. especially the last one. i thanked the designers of those airplanes so many times, cause it was surely not the maintenance guys who kept it going. i'm undecided on the crew, i'll never know how much of it was due to their lack of training and how much was bad maintenance. (this was with some small air asia subsidiary, so definitely not the worst you can get, but also not great by any means.)

Bullshit. Most current Kyrgyzstan airlines fly very old MD80/A320/RJ85/B733s and they’ve never had a serious accident outside of some hard landings. Also, this airline belongs to the Turkish Airlines. This is like th EU being racist and ignorant as usual.

Yes, exactly. The problem is likely to be due to sloppy government control, so that when a spot check took place at a western airport of a Kyrgyz airliner, it failed. Once that happened too often, the whole country was banned. Then it was a case of "give a dog a bad name".

One of the things regulators look at now is operational procedures and training. Specifically Crew Resource Management(CRM). CRM goes into how flight crews interact. Do older experienced pilots rule the cockpit by intimidation or does the younger 1st officer have the ability thru training to raise questions in a difficult situation. It is one of the reasons for a two person crew on the flight deck. In any number of aircraft incidents a co pilot quite literally sat on his hands as a senior pilot made deadly errors. The list is long of cases. Many times a carrier and regulatory authority had to fight with cultural norms to make improvements. In the US it has resulted in a period of over ten years without any passenger fatalities. It includes things like the USAir ditching in the Hudson River with no fatalities, in freezing cold temperatures.

@johnhaller58513 жыл бұрын
It's the entirety of the system. Can you buy your license, are the pilots properly type qualified, are they well practiced in CRM. It's easy to fly modern planes when nothing goes wrong. But when an engine fails during takeoff, will the pilots properly manage it? Air Manus may have all the programs in place, but who is auditing the performance of the processes? That's what gets your country banned. The US recently restricted Mexican carriers for regulation deficiencies, not a ban, but embarrassing.
