$2 million may sound crazy, but this wagon is the absolute pinnacle of pre-merger AMG and Blue Ridge knows exactly what he has! The looks of these 80's & early 90's pre-merger/mid-merger AMG's are uniquely beautiful and I guarantee they will continue rise in value for years and years to come! What a car!

He also did explain why it’s a one of one. The person who ordered it ordered it with one of everything in the book back then. Company would’ve been stupid to not make the wagon for that customer. The collector market likes rarity and it is 1 or 1 made (just like fine art paintings) and those collectors have deep pockets when hunting rare stuff and also the Pre-merger AMG is an amazing story and unique history as an independent tuner which hits the spot for collectors. When Mercedes bought out AMG in the early 90's and the post merger /// in house cars rolled off the assembly line it lost its flavour as the cars were mass produced and no longer unique at all due to high volumes

The W124 needs brighter headlights, a better drivers' seat and back light bulbs that don't go pop every time you slam the boot lid. Also make sure your mechanic understands the hydraulic system. Then it's perfect if you have some more than a 2-litre engine.

When I was in high school, the W124 Hammer was my dream car, along with the more pedestrian W201 2.3-16. This is absolutely stunning, and no doubt a 1/1 car. But if I'm honest, I don't understand the $2MM valuation. That's above and beyond the going rate for a concours W198. I't's far, FAR beyond my means, so I don't really have a say in the matter. But saying it's worth something is meaningless until someone hands you a cashier's check or BTC wallet.

So we have this story about the acquisition of this car, and of course I know that any Hammer is special, I mean Chris Harris just about fainted when he saw one on that big warehouse, but besides being a V8 in a non-full sized sedan, why don’t some of you armchair investors tell us about what makes a Hammer special? I mean, we don’t even know what year it is! No big deal or anything, the year of any car doesn’t really matter now does it? What is context anyways? I had a 1995 E320, and a 1968 Country Squire at the same time, and loved them both. The Merc handled well for its era and relative status, and I’ve always loved Mercedes sedans. It wasn’t super fast but sideways in the rain was no problem but I especially liked the not too stiff ride without wallowing in the corners. And it wasn’t really big enough for me, being 6’ 4” I need elbow room, and of course I fit in the Merc, but no one could sit behind me besides a small child. The Country Squire was in great shape, maroon with wood grain sides, hidden headlights, no rust, no dents, checked paint, interior good, 390 pulled like a train, and could be parked confidently on a white carpet. And it was beautiful. So we sold the E320 cause it seemed to be a lemon/chronic electronics issues, and the expense was killing us.my best friend totaled the Squire. Whoops. So I had dreamt of a combo of those two cars. 120” wheelbase, or around that, independent rear suspension, a legendary muscle car V8, ability to light em up at will, and ride like the Merc but carry more, look muscular and mean, and put a shit eating grin on my face when needed. So what has a 120” wheelbase, a Merc front and rear suspension, Merc electronics , looks badass, and has a legendary V8 , and leaves 11s down the street?

$2,000,000?!?! I would sell in a heartbeat, buy a new PTS E63 wagon and pocket the $1,850,000 towards a nicer house, retirement, investments, etc. it’s a cool car, but not two million dollars cool.

He is very wrong with the M117 quad-cam being the only real hammers. There are Hammers with the SOHC and there are also Hammers with the newer M119 engine. Maybe take a look at this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2Wui32ChNyrnJo

@@BlueRidgeMB I believe it was a video from the channel AMGmeister where I got the info from. Obviously everyone on YT (or the Internet for that matter) can claim just about everything, especially when it's a matter of opinion and not official documentation what AMG themselves call a Hammer and what not. On the flipside, can you show me the documentation where AMG (and I mean proper German AMG, not the US office) defines what exactly a Hammer is and what isn't, and that those models are specifically not Hammers?
