it is more like a moving sketch book/ comic , what you would do on a moving anima for showing a animated storyboard! love it my self, I want to do similar this year, a Game demo, what gave me this idea, was first the Game by Arkine studio, who did The Dishonoured 1, and two, its like looking at a water painting, you are right to feel this way about art, hope it inspires your futures work, salute from the UK. 👌

Great video! A recent Seth Rogan interview came out saying that the art style was inspired by notebook doodles. Also, my own interpretation is that the reason why the humans are so asymmetrical is to show that humans look just as weird to the turtles as a mutant would look to us.

So nice to see this movie getting some love. I myself am super hyped, yet so many people are trashing the art or April's character design or Donnie's voice, the list goes on. I myself jjst love how theyve done everything. The voice acting is jjst so good and feels so natural, and the art is just so much fun. Seth Rogen even said that the art is inspired by kids drawings and doodles, which is why its so wonky and sketchy and assymetrical, and i just thought it was so clever! People can complain all they want, but im so excited, the movie looks super fun 💙💜❤🧡

if you pause at literally any frame you could be convinced that its completely hand drawn thats crazy. for a long time i thought it was simply a carbon copy of spiderverse but there are so many differences that make them completely separate in identity. even tho i adore spiderverse's art this movie kinda grabbed everything i loved about it which is the design and urban personality of the city. im fcking hyped bro!!

Aw thank you! At this point, people are using Spiderverse to describe anything that's animated with a lower framerate and a 2d/3d mix. Which is understandable. That movie was revolutionary. But yeah, this movie here is really doing their own thing with the visual design. Especially nailing down the sketchy grittiness of New York. And I am very excited for it 😆

I'm glad you like it and are so excited about it, for me it's the exact opposite of one big fake which I can't relate to it. They drop the framerate to make it feel as if it was stop motion but we know it's not, so yea if they want to make an art, go for it... do it in a proper way with puppets and not faking it with CGI and that's not all since they added a scribble filter over it again trying to fake what would a real concept artist be able to do... but of course they won't hire those people and won't animate it frame by frame ... but faking it all... sure they do that... so for me i can hardly see it as something cool since i know it's just a frankenstain monster trying hard to be something more then what it is

See the thing is, there's not a "proper" way to do art. They're dropping their framerate because animation has been at 24 fps for decades up until the 2000s. It seems like a logical decision because they're blending 3D and 2D art with this. Honestly, I don't think the crew is trying to fake anything. From everything I've seen, as well as a couple members of the team reaching out to me, this movie is being made with so much love and passion by people who really respect their craft and are wanting to make something that looks different. You don't have to enjoy it, of course. Everyone has their own taste. But "faking it" is not what's happening here for sure.

altho using stop motion wouldve been nice thats not rlly the point. its supposed to like a painting and using cg allows you to have 100% control over the visuals. the lighting in the movie specifically is really stylized, while if u used stop motion the lighting depends on how it looks irl which is super restrictive and u cant change much about how it looks

this movie really brought my interest in asymmetry and a total warped ugliness in character design .....as a 3d artist i struggle with with this cause i have been conformed to precise and ideal/correct features when designing and when i i do otherwise it looks wrong. such artistic freedom is mostly within 2d art but they brough it into 3d and it really opened my eyes . great video ,,,im equally as excited as you are
