Why don't the presidents of the other programs in the CFP ruling gurus put themselves in Kirk Schulz's shoes, and let's see if they will navigate differently? I bet that they will do exactly what the WSU president is doing. Kirk Schulz's demands are reasonable and should be granted him.

@@PCSPounder even that makes no sense! Why would Big 12 or ACC add WSU and OSU just to save 2 years on the playoffs deal? If SEC/B1G want to go their own way, they’ll do it regardless. After 2025 everything is open. That’s why Big 12 adding WSU/OSU makes even less sense.

I hope that we get to pick the game. That’s the biggest thing I hate about the Live TV games is that I’m forced to watch the ending of a game that I don’t care about while my game starts. I hoped that they gave us the option to be able to switch games rather than forcing us to wait.

I just read Pat Chung from WSU was selected to serve on CFP selection committee. If Shultz is hated so much, why would they allow a WSU AD serve on the committee. I doubt there is as much discord between Shultz and the rest regarding 6+6 or 5+7 as podcasters make it out to be. If there was, Pat would never have been allowed on the selection committee.

To be fair the ACC only took SMU because SMU isn't getting any media money for 9 years and Washington State and Oregon State can't afford to do that

@@BeWise4Life Actually, Oregon State University's enrollment is half-again as much as the University of Oregon, and it has a larger alumni base. UofO will have one of the smallest enrollments in the expanded B1G. However, if you're talking about NATIONAL BRAND, then you're spot on. UofO and UofW are much stronger than OSU and WSU by that measure, which is the one that counts.

What he wants only lasts two years anyway. Even if they they are able to rebuild the PAC it won't be a P conference just a glorified G5. Tuneup need to join the MW asap. Either one of them could have a good chance of being the best G5 and get the auto bid

Colorado is still going to suck. The O-line will be only marginally better, and the D will still stink. You can't build a great O-line entirely in the portal, and their high school recruiting continues to be trash, so it's hard to see a _good_ O-line there any time in the next 3 years.

The PAC2 will never be put back into a power conference unless a major overhaul, like Chip Kelly's proposal, happens. So Kirk has little downside risk. The PAC2 will lose about $160 million dollars if Kirk agrees to a 5+7 format. With nobody wanting WSU/OSU why should he go along? Take the money, wait it out for two years and see what happens to the ACC implosion, the SEC/Big10 alliance and new media deals that happen in two years. Kirk has played a terrible situation masterfully. Something the PAC12 failed to due. The math on the $160 million goes like this. Under the 6+6 format the PAC2 gets $80 million a year for two years plus an auto bid that pays a few million dollars. Compare that to getting Group of 5 money of $102 million a year for 64 teams. What is better over two years? A 50% share of $160 million plus playoff money or a 1/64 share of $204 million? The Ag schools (WSU/OSU) have schooled Cal and Stanford.
@pnwadventurer80210 ай бұрын
Neither one would get an auto bid. Only conference champions get the automatic in. PAC won't have a championship and neither one is eligible for the MW championship. Thier only hope is to finish top 11 ranking which seems unlikely
@user-od3hf1rm9h10 ай бұрын
@@pnwadventurer802 For $80 million a year they will have a championship. As the only two voting members they could decide it by rock paper scissors if they wanted to. The PAC12 also has an auto bid under the current 6+6 format. Nobody can take that away unless Kirk agrees to it.

What does Shultz have to lose? If he allows the other conferences to treat WSU and OSU like garbage, where’s the benefit of doing what they want? The conferences want WSU/OSU to give up any chance of rebuilding the PAC-12 in exchange for nothing.
@haroldflashman468710 ай бұрын
@@TheFrizbaloid I agree. But seems he’s asking for far more than what he will be giving up. I mean ok so he agrees to let the playoff changes take place 2 years earlier, but what he wants in return is: 1. Equal playoff shares for any G5 programs that join the PAC 2. PAC to be treated as a power conference going forward after 2026. That seems like he wants everything but can only offer a pittance in return.
@xmositoxc14710 ай бұрын
Why? Cause he wants Sankey to make an example out of him for the next CFP iteration. Sankey won't forget and now he'll have Big10 support. Wouldn't be surprised if whatever New Conference WSU creates does not have voting power because it currently does not exist.
