Thank you for your excellent analogy. This is it. Saudi Arabia and US are actually fighting with Iran on Yemeni Soil. And vice versa. In the thirst to set the scores with each who are the worst being persecuted they are the future generations of Yemen. Israel palestinian conflict would take a few hours to explain :) Have you read the "the great war for civilisation"? I found it was one of the best books you can read for an intro to the whole region. It's a bit old now so it wouldn't cover yemen but it's still worth a read.

Regarding Houthis taking humanitarian aid coming in for Yemenis at 4:00, the Houthis themselves are Yemeni. They don't trust the international community in disbursing the aid as they've largely refused to take action against Saudi coalition bombing. The Houthi controlled area is the West/NW which is facing the brunt of the bombing so that's why the Houthis want to take charge of distributing the aid accordingly.
