When isis beheads an innocent person, they say "we are beheading someone that didn't do anything"? The loss of ISIS was because of russian airstrikes and the ground troop of Iraqi Popular Mobilisation units trained and supplied by Iran, American airstrikes were effective mostly in kurdistan regions of iraq. If your giving credit make sure you do for every party that has played a major role not just the americans.

Most of the Russian bombings weren't even against ISIS but US backed rebels which posed the biggest threat to Al Assad. Russia destroyed ISIS positions and supported Syrian army forces with tactical strikes but also did massive bombing of civilians in areas held by ISIS causing mostly civilian casualties. Western attacks destroyed ISIS oil cutting their biggest revenue to a fraction of what it used to be and destroyed ISIS supplies and heavy equipment. Western nations used more money to strategic bombing which crippled ISIS logistics and economy hindering their ability to fight while Russia focused of supporting combat and terror bombing the innocent civilian population held hostage by ISIS. West didn't want to seem like a warmongers and kept relatively quiet while Russia put out huge amounts of media on their attacks to seem like the hero who destroyed ISIS. Kurds, then Iraq backed by western nations did most of the ground work while Syria was focused on other rebels. When Syria got the last ISIS strongholds in Syria, ISIS had already been drained fighting in Iraq.

On Tuesday we were on school watching a movie in class, we hear our principle talking in the microphone , but you can only hear it in the hallway so our teacher got outside to listen what was going on while we were watching the movie, she comes back crying and asked us : 'Who's parents works in Zaventem or takes the metro to Brussels ?' Me and a couple others raised our hands , then she explained that there was an attack in the airport ( where my mom works) me and all the others started crying . We were allowed to call and see if they were okay. When we were in the hallway me and 2 other girls were hugging each other and saying that everything was going to be ok. I called my mom she pick't up right away , she was crying and kept on asking if I was safe on school, she was in the car on her way to work . When I came home I hugged my mom and kept on telling her that I love her , it was the scariest day of my life ...

If you explain the radicalization of Muslim youth in 'the West' by the existence of groups like Isis (which kind of begs the question why other religious groups don't spawn them, but I'd rather not go there unless you insist) and the lack of similar phenomena amongst other groups of migrants/minorities with the lack of equivalent organizations, then any social or economic issues such as youth unemployment, racism, poverty etc etc, on which in and of themselves debates could be had but I'll grant you the assertion that Europeans/Westerners are evil bigots for now, you wish to highlight cannot be the root cause (or sufficient cause), no? It would never dawn on me to argue that economic hardships cannot aggravate such problems. Philipp Wasa Well that's where the whole ISIS phenomenon comes to play in. Before 2010 when the Syrian war did not start yet and before ISIS existed, we had no problem here in Belgium with Jihadi's or terrorism what so ever. In those times there were problems though with muslims being marginalized and getting into crime. This problem existed for more than 40 years but no terrorism ever occurred. When ISIS was established a lot of ISIL recruiters started recruiting young muslims in prisons and on the internet. This was in their favor because these youngster are vulnerable and easy to manipulate. For these muslim youth ISIL is functioning as a gang. They feel accepted and they think it's 'cool' to sympathize with ISIS. You see the same problem in the USA with gangs, the only difference here is that they add a religious cause to it.

You yourself point out that these things (radicalization, recruiting and terror attacks) only began in Belgium after the rise of Isis even though the other issues were of long standing, again, by your own statement. ***** I know exactly what the IRA fought for. Many people saw it as Catholics vs protestants, and technically it was. But the principal reasons were political. The IRA wanted a united Ireland and for the British government to leave... Similar reason with the middle east. Western powers invading, interfering with, supporting dictators etc has sparked hatred and outrage. This is a huge motivation/cause of all this shit.Suicide bombings were very uncommon prior to 2001, after that they skyrocketed. Or as for the more likely reason why Brussels was attacked: someone from the terrorist cell operating in Belgium (but not necessarily intending to target Belgium) was caught by the police after a thorough investigation and started ratting out the others. That was publicly announced by a prosecutor who wanted attention but should just have kept his mouth shut, causing the remaining terrorists to get scared and quickly attempt to go out with a bang before they would be stopped by the police. A major strategic mistake, I'd say.
