In 2002 when the first Sam Raimi movie was released, I was a camera assistant working on Dark Angel, the last episode of which Cameron directed. Between set-ups, a crew member and myself were talking about Spiderman having just seen it that weekend. We suddenly hear Cameron behind us asking "is it any good?". We gave our brief opinion and he nodded then went very quiet. Finally he sighed and said, "yeah, that one still stings..."

Except for the fact Steve ditko came up with Spider-Man and a ton of other things that Stan Lee took credit for which people seem to conveniently overlook. Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko got screwed. But no one more than Bill finger on the DC side.

I'm purely looking forward to see the MCU film reboot of The mutant heerone and goddess Ororo Monroe aka Storm and her fellow heroic X-Men members in future MCU films, specifically the 2022 Black Panther 2 MCU film! :D

The amount of time and research you put into these is insane. To find all this information, put it into chronological order (not to mention make sense of it all) shows a level of commitment and passion that far exceeds the credit you're getting from a 3.4k sub count. I'd feel incredibly guilty to not, at the very least, subscribe and give a very well deserved thumbs up click. You should think about starting a Patreon, it couldn't hurt to see if people would be willing to support all your hard work that you obviously put into these video essays.

Interesting documentary - thanks! Can't remember the source but I recall hearing that the 2002 Spider-Man film originally had its entire finale take place atop the World Trade Center, and some detail about a helicopter being held by webbing strung between the twin towers. Presumably those scenes were shot, as the film was in post-production when "09/11" happened, necessitating re-shoots. It would be interesting to see those scenes one day. It seems quite a lot of the Raimi trilogy had roots in the various un-produced treatments that Cameron and others had written previously. Much of it made it to the screen in one way or another, but it's a shame some good stuff was discarded - defeating Sandman by turning him to glass sounds pretty darn awesome; better than what we eventually got :)

Also, what should existed is a Metal Gear Solid film series with Jason Bateman as Solid Snake. On Cyclops... While Cameron’s movie sounds interesting I am so happy that Sony decided to hire Raimi instead, if an independent team nowadays use modern tech and deep fakes to create what could’ve been that would be cool but in terms of what actually happened I’ll always choose the 2002 - 2007 trilogy every time

I would not want an independent team to use deep fakes. deep fakes are still super rough and even Disney can't pull it off in mellow situations without getting awkward and negative reception (Luke Skywalker in the Mandolorian). I'd rather them just have either different actors, or animation.

I was a freshman in high school when all the news hit about Cameron taking on Spider-Man. I remember being absolutely excited that the man that brought us T2 was at the helm. In hindsight though, I think better writers would have made the difference with Cameron directing, of course. But as time has gone on, I have realized that writing is not his strong point. That being said in the early ‘90’s that would have been the ultimate film. I also recall the rumors that Schwarzenegger was down to play Venom. It would have been interesting to say the least.

However, after seeing this and knowing about the potential of Schwarzenegger and DiCaprio being in it too, I don't think I can ever watch a Terminator movie without thinking, "What if Kyle Reese was Spiderman?" or a Spiderman movie without thinking, "What if the main villain was the Terminator...and they were on the Titanic?"

First of all, this movie would have been amazing. I just think it's a shame that Peter and MJ seem to break up so easily at the end, but the fact that people, media, police and villains are all against Spidey when he's trying to do the right thing seems incredible. This was kind of the case in NWH, but it wasn't developed enough in my opinion, although NWH gave us a perfect ending. Then, damn, James Cameron's Spiderman didn't happen because of a computer crash, which caused them to reuse an old contract deal for the movie where a producer's name didn't appear, which triggered lawsuits that prevented that movie from happening. If that computer would have worked, Tobey might never have been Spidey and Leonardo di Caprio is the one who would have had a whole trilogy. It would be him who would have appeared in NWH with Tom and Andrew. And finally what makes me laugh the most is that the guys from Cannon Film in 1990 knew so little about the character that they wanted to make a Spiderman movie where Peter Parker is a ninja turning into a spider lmao.
