Tom Holland's climactic third Spider Man movie in the Homecoming Trilogy has finally arrived and is not only making waves among comic book fans, but it's also breaking records at the box office as well. No Way Home brings the nostalgia, it brings the fan service, callbacks, easter eggs, all of those little bits that get audiences excited in a theater, but is it TOO much nostalgia, is it TOO reliant on legacy? Well, yes...and no. Spider Man No Way Home is a tale of two halves. The first is everything I feared it would be from the no way home trailers: cheap, gratuitous fan service that felt more gimmicky than necessary while also struggling to really make sense of the catalyst for everything. Then...something remarkable happens. This new spiderman movie takes a shift and actually lets its guard down enough to become emotionally genuine and sincere, something I didn't think was possible for MCU spider-man. It's the quintessential Peter Parker and Spider-Man story I've been dying to see from Tom Holland Spider Man. Spiderman no way home is at its best when it uses the past as a means to discuss second chances and packs an emotional wallop that makes for some of the best spidey moments of all time. I think it is important to remember that Dr. Strange doesn’t have the Time Stone anymore. It is one of the first lines he says to Peter. He can’t check the future to see the possibilities of what will happen anymore. He can’t make a decision on a leap of faith. That’s why he wasn’t too out of character in this movie. If he had the time stone, he would have somehow guided Peter to the correct path and not let him make the mistakes that could cause the universe to break. This Peter Parker turned to dust and then everything came back to normal when the heroes saved the day. He doesn’t see how this will be any different than when the world was saved before. The trailers led me to believe that Peter runs to Dr. Strange right after his identity is discovered. No, he waits and lives with it for months until he realized he ruined the futures of two people he cares about. Then he goes to Dr. Strange who he remembered from saving the universe together.

But that isn’t true to the character and now he is more akin to previous versions. I know people were tired of the origin story and that’s why I think doing it this way actually works. @Rhetiq 99 For 2/3 of these films, the new territory was kinda worthless. There isn’t much continuity and u can tell the plan wasn’t do redo the origin, so it’s not some big mastermind of a twist. The probably just didn’t know what to do and needed to course correct, so they went back to telling the origin even tho Civil War showed us Peter had already been through his origin. It just feels redundant, but I honestly wouldn’t care if they hadn’t been so adamant about not doing the origin again. Tbh if they did the classic one at this point I wouldn’t even care, just as long as they do it right and don’t bloat it. The MCU should’ve just taken the PS4 route and aged Peter up cause only through NWH did I start to feel anything for Tom’s Peter and that’s just cause he’s confirmed having gone through some version of the origin now, yet the PS4 game was able to make me feel for Peter through new writing whilst doing what the MCU set out to do and avoiding the origin (but in the case of the game, without disregarding it entirely for two films then retreading it when they didn’t know what else to do)

Also, Dr.Strange can make Spider-Man not escape or hold him in place without escaping or kill Spider-Man without even trying. Don’t y’all see what’s going on here? Stupid and pointless.... Not even gonna try to argue since there's always an explanation or excuse. Gwen Stacy had a sadder death and it hit home harder than aunt may. Uncle Ben from the raimi and Marc Webb movies had a sadder death. Aunt may in all other movies were better than this aunt may. Her death was also stupid like the glider sliced her from the side and peter didn't see that? It would have been much more brutal if she exploded in the Goblin bombs. Much more brutal and sad. Because "fan service" is just out of ideas rehash. For instance, Tobey's movies were not fan service when they were made, they were just great movies made. That later, when used it is fan service because they became classics. Its not a problem for fan service to come up every now and then. But usually when its packed in an entire movie that comes after 2 movies before it. Its basically mcu saying, "we have no idea how to make a great Spiderman film on its own, so we'll just give you a bunch of fan service for this one".

I don't see too much of a difference in Doctor Strange throughout the movies, and I don't quite agree with the whole Strange believing in miracles. Even in Infinity War, Strange had to go through 14000000 outcomes to see how they win against Thanos, that's why he sacrificed himself and give Thanos the stone because he already knew that would lead them to their victory. I don't think that's believing in miracles but believing in pure facts

Strange had a Thanos mentality for wanting things to be the way they were “supposed” to? I completely disagree with your take on this. Strange’s rationale wasn’t that if the villains die the world will be a better place. We’re talking about the guy who looked at millions of outcomes to determine what events needed to happen in order to defeat thanos- strange understands that all events have a domino effect, and drastically changing the course of ones life (like stopping them from dying when they’re fated to die) will have consequences in a larger context. Strange was motivated by preserving the workings of destiny while thanos was motivated by the universe’s limited resources.

The people Thanos killed were never meant to originally die. Thanos made an active decision to kill half the universe. The villains who were meant to die, were always meant to die and that fate cannot be changed. Strange understood that. It's kind of like Strange Supreme In WHAT IF. If Strange Supreme had not gone back to save Christine even though he had the power to do so that wouldn't mean that he is killing her, it would mean that he is accepting her fate. When Strange Supreme saved Christine it lead to the death of his entire reality.

I'm sorry, but did you forget that Doc Ock used Aunt May as a shield against the cops and Spider-Man? Hell he even dropped her to distract Peter. Not only that but he risked half of New York due to his pride in trying to make his experiment work. As for Dr. Strange, he's right. Why risk the multiverse for the sake of some villains? He was being logical. And for Peter to go to Strange right away is also pretty logical too, anyone would have immediately done that. There was nothing Peter could have done, even if he tried to be responsible, the whole world was already against him. Norman also didn't use himself as a test subject because he couldn't fathom the fact of being a failure. His entire career was in jeopardy, he only had 2 weeks for results, so he had no time to get other human test subjects. He basically took a scientific risk out of desperation.

Before their accidents, Norman was a jerk (he still loved Harry, cared for Peter, and was willing to die for his company, though) while Otto was a super nice guy who took 2 hours of his time to talk about life with some random kid he just met.

11:34 Strange definitely was like that in Infinity War. He never agreed with sacrifice on as large of a scale as Thanos, but he did say numerous times that he would let any individual (particularly Stark) die before letting Thanos get the time stone. When he eventually did give Thanos the time stone, it was only because he looked into 14 million possible futures and saving Stark was the only way to win, not because he was against sacrifice. Strange was definitely acting mathematically, not emotionally. The only possible winning outcome was if Stark survived, so he did what he needed to for Stark to survive. A very small chance of winning is larger than 0.

Honestly, I still think the first half of the film was really good and served a purpose because it allows us top contrast the more jokey, light-hearted tone of the "Home" trilogy and previews the more serious dramatic tone that we'll see in the next Tom Holland Spidey film. The way I see it, the Homecoming trilogy is a more direct adaptation of Stan Lee's original run with Spider-Man, where the comic operated a lot more like a sitcom, and what happens in sitcoms? Everything works out by the end. Essentially, the "Home" trilogy is just updating the concept that Stan Lee first started with back when he first created Spider-Man. No Way Home operates as a transition point that Spidey went through in the comics between the more sitcom-y high school era and the more dramatic College era. Now, the movies are free to explore that more dramatic College era of the character and I, for one, am extremely excited for it. Also, considering that the Raimi Spider-Man was more based on the College Era, it makes a lot of sense why some fans of previous incarnations of the Webhead didn't take to MCU Spidey at first. So, I still think the movie works well and it isn't a tale of two halves. It still has moments where the pacing grinds to a halt, but I had a lot of fun with it so I don't mind it as much.

Fan-service is a term that is used to describe an act of generosity, compassion even ambition in works of fiction. On the other hand it is also perceived as unwarranted content for the sympathetic fandom. No way home is a fan-servicing virtue of a film. What’s most surprising is the delicacy and focus on theme, character and narrative. Granted the film deals with a multi-dimensional crisis (pun intended) of epic proportions however the film transcends emotional barriers by telling a thoughtful, inspiring and poignant story. One that is heartfelt yet audacious, extravagant, yet sincere. For fans and dabblers alike, satisfaction is a certainty as the film delivers the perfect gift of surprises, spectacle and most importantly soul. Is the film perfect? technically no, but depending on your expectations it may just be the ultimate Spider-Man film. A true tear-jerker, a definite crowd-pleaser, an instant classic. Stan Lee would be proud to know that with this film, his legacy is complete. His ingenious creation about a friendly neighbourhood hero has now subverted the language of cinema. 9.5/10

Tobey never wanted to kill goblin, goblin got himself killed. Plus he was close to Norman so obviously would not want to see Norman die again. Of course the movie forgets that Tobeys Spiderman is close to Norman. Norman shows no care of Tobey, and acts like he doesn't even know tobeys Spiderman at all.

I just rewatched the end on a stream real quick, and sure enough, I was the one who payed attention unlike you. He looks at Holland and says "Peter", then looks and sees Tobey stabbed for a second or 2. Then looks at Holland for several seconds with a confused look and it sounds like he says to Holland "what happened?". So like I said, shows no care for Tobey, and acts like he doesn't know Tobey. he should have said "peter" to Tobey, and said "what happened?" to Tobey instead of Holland. Next time, before wanting, God to damn stuff and telling someone to pay attention, makes sure that you payed attention.

The green goblin in this movie is taken from the point in time which he is fighting tobey on the bridge, the tobey that was pulled from his universe is a Tobey taken from years down the future in his universe so Goblin was taken from the end of Spider Man 1 and Tobey was taken from years past spider man 3. Same goes for every single villain and hero in the movie. Andrew is taken from a point in time years after Gwens death, Electro is taken from when he was fighting andrew and about to explode, Lizard is taken when fighting Andrew on the rooftop, Sandman is taken at the end of Spider man 3, Doc Ock is taken before he turns good again by the river. If that doesnt make sense to you watch the last 15 minutes of Loki or What If on DISNEY+ Whenever one is pulled from the universe it creates a branch timeline so there is not one definitive timeline which means that for example, when Doc Ock gets pulled from Tobeys universe by the river, There is now 2 universes, One where Doc Ock gets pulled from the universe and he no longer is there to fight tobey or stop the sun so the sun might take over New york, and there is also another universe where he does not get pulled from the universe and the same event happens as we know it in spider man 2

I wouldn't exactly say Matt's inclusion was pointless considering high profile cases like these do typically require legal counsel to see how severe the charges actually are. Not to mention the fact that cameos like these really aren't meant to reintroduce a character. There are several moments like this in this video. Where you immediately go to one conclusion, this is inauthentic, lazy, was turned into a joke, without really trying to figure out what the scenes you're criticizing was trying to communicate. I'm gonna be honest. While I agree with a lot of what you said, I think you'd benefit from watching this movie a couple more times. You were pretty wrong about a lot of things. Also, Strange didn't give him a suit. He gave him a gauntlet that let's him teleport for a specific period time and immediately takes it away. Its just his normal suit turned inside out because they threw green paint on it. And he's shown struggling to get the paint off. Also the black and gold inside was hinted at during Homecoming. Plus it is literally called the inside out suit. Also going to his super friend to solve a problem because he's overwhelmed instead of thinking it through? You'd be surprised by how often he's done in the comics.

This film was beautiful. Andrew’s Peter becoming darker because of Gwen’s death is OUTSTANDING, him looking at Peter and MJ with a heartbroken look before being reminded by Tobey that he can find love again is brilliant. I love the fact that “Great Power, comes Great Responsibility” connects the Peter’s just as much as their names and their masks. Them talking about their own unique individual heartbreaks, comparing villains and Tobey and Andrew being AWFUL partners because they aren’t used to it and that’s when Holland’s Spider-Man to me establishes himself with this one moment as a different Spider-Man by becoming a leader and making them work together successfully as a team because he was an Avenger and learnt how to work in a team quickly. The ending to this film is perfect and genuinely got me so excited for the future. An apartment, a homemade suit that looks and feels like Spider-Man, a fun swing through New York and a Spider-Boy being replaced by the Spider-Man. Peter leaving Ned and MJ after he made the world forget who Peter Parker is so he can let them live a happy life (something he always wanted for them) is perfect and a great ending to the trilogy, I expect to see them in Iron Heart as she is in MIT with them. And yes, I want to see TASM 3.

Dr. Strange wanting to send the villains home to their death is out of character? Are you kidding? Him saying "in in the vast calculus of the multiverse, their sacrifice means infinitely more than their life" (paraphrased) is EXACTLY his justification for Stark's death. His priority has always been to protect reality over individual lives. Spider-Man is different because he tries to save individuals even at the risk of reality breaking down. Everything the audience needs to know about nanotechnology is explained when Ock says "nanotechnology.. you've outdone yourself, Peter" while watching the nanotech form to his tentacles. It wasn't complicated. The Goblin and Ock were not just easter eggs. Goblin's purpose was an extension of his 2002 portrayal. His powers are "gifts" and he convinces Elektro of that. He also wanted, yet again, to corrupt Spider-Man. Ock was the natural counterbalance to this perspective. Villains are not inherently evil. They are redeemable. Why is the melding of Uncle Ben and Aunt May a bad thing? Do you really need a separate Uncle Ben to affect this Spider-Man in the effectively the same way? I'd argue that it was Gwen's death that affected Andrew's spidey more than Uncle Ben. After Ben died in the TASM universe, Peter's motivation for becoming Spider-Man was revenge. It wasn't until he saved that kid on the bridge that he saw his potential. Gwen's death, on the other hand, gives him the final push he needed to prioritize his responsibilities as Spider-Man OVER his desires as Peter Parker. Ned having powers is fine. Why do people have an issue with this? They hinted at his potentially magical family early in the film. Are you really surprised that, in a universe where surgeon can turn into the sorcerer supreme or a man can turn into a hulk, Ned can have a magical background?

It also undermines the training that Strange, a genius in his own right, had to do to get the Sling Ring to work. He had to shoved and on the brink of death at the top of Mount Everest to open one, but Ned- an absolute nobody who only had ONE throwaway line of build up at the start of the movie that can be equally written off as a joke- can do the same thing more than once just because he he thought about it some? And I never made excuses for those, so I'm not gonna excuse this even though Spider-Man is the only reason I'm watching any MCU movie after Endgame. And as for the Sling Ring needing impulse, I don't think so. It requires intent, otherwise anyone could use it right from the start and the training at Kamar Taj would be absolutely useless if anyone could use it on impulse. And again, it being treated as a throwaway joke at the start really undermines the intent of the line, to set Ned up as a sorcerer in training. It would have been more tolerable if it wasn't treated so flippantly or for comedy, but that's what it was treated as making the whole thing look more like a bad joke than a clever set up.

I think that not only the characters become better in the second half, but also the references. In the first half, "I'm something of a scientist myself" feels out of place and entirely for fan service. But when Doc Ock says "the power of the sun in my hand" to Tobey, it feels like he's making fun of who he was, what the arms were making him do, as you said, having a sweet conversation with his friend about his past mistakes... and also fan service, but the good one, I like to think.

Fan-service is a term that is used to describe an act of generosity, compassion even ambition in works of fiction. On the other hand it is also perceived as unwarranted content for the sympathetic fandom. No way home is a fan-servicing virtue of a film. What’s most surprising is the delicacy and focus on theme, character and narrative. Granted the film deals with a multi-dimensional crisis (pun intended) of epic proportions however the film transcends emotional barriers by telling a thoughtful, inspiring and poignant story. One that is heartfelt yet audacious, extravagant, yet sincere. For fans and dabblers alike, satisfaction is a certainty as the film delivers the perfect gift of surprises, spectacle and most importantly soul. Is the film perfect? technically no, but depending on your expectations it may just be the ultimate Spider-Man film. A true tear-jerker, a definite crowd-pleaser, an instant classic. Stan Lee would be proud to know that with this film, his legacy is complete. His ingenious creation about a friendly neighbourhood hero has now subverted the language of cinema. 9.5/10

In my opinion, I love all 3 Spider-Men, but I relate more to Tom Holland's Spidey. We basically saw an "origin" story in 3 separate films because of the larger MCU, something that the other previous Spider-Man movies never got the chance to do. We grew with Tom's Peter, and while I understand why people thought he was "Iron Boy Jr." he really wasn't, Spider-Man was a kid, using everything to his advantage, & now that he has lost literally everything & everyone, and starts from scratch, while in the MCU, and I love that. It makes me appreciate the Homecoming trilogy even more. It may have taken 5 years, and for some it seems like "finally", but to me, I understand him more. The entire time I was watching the movie, it felt like a dream, like it shouldn't be possible. It was an amazing experience, I was shouting at my friend, "dude, they did it, it is happening!" I loved the movie!!! I was thinking, Norman doesn't die, Harry doesn't become vengeful, Doc Oc doesn't die, Peter never shows his face to MJ. In Andrew's world, Gwen's dad is alive now, so Gwen and Peter never broke up. Things have changed for those two spidermen! The movie made me think about the shows 12 Monkeys and DARK!. Some fucked up things could have happened in their universes because they messed with causality!!!

Peter didnt just want to reverse Mysterio framing him because of the college issue, it was because he was actively ruining MJ and Ned's lives merely by being associated with him. It's easy to say "Just suck it up and deal with it", but the truth is that the people he loves suffer. He and May had to move in with Happy just to escape people throwing bricks through his windows. The reason Strange helped him was NOT because Peter was wallowing in self-pity. It was was because he pleaded _for his friends_ . And while MJ addresses how he did this behind their backs and that it was too impulsive, it was never a selfish action. Doctor Strange literally told Tony that he would not _hesitate_ to sacrifice him and Peter if he had to do it to protect the time stone in Infinity War. How could you possibly claim that it is out of character for him to send the villains back to how things should be in their universes to protect his reality? Strange has become the kind of person who sees the biggest scope and ignore the little guy, which is the exact opposite of Peter's philosophy. I think you completely got him wrong. The villains are not just nostalgia bait, you are basically the only one who claims that. Of the dozens of reviews I've seen most people straight up praise how accurate or subdued the villains are and how they arent just there to be there. Another strike to how confused your interpretation seems. Your obssesion with Uncle Ben HAVING to be the catalyst for becoming Spider-man is so rigid and confusingly forced. Is Peter dating Gwen Stacy in Amazing Spider-man an insult to Maryjane, because she is the one always associated first with Peter Parker's girlfriend/wife? Fuck off. Peter was already Spider-man _before_ meeting Ironman. It is clear that in the MCU he already wanted to be heroic because of how May raised him and how he was inspired by Ironman as a child. I agree with you on May. One thing I never really considered in regards to WHY Peter became Spider-Man in the new trilogy is I guess whether or not it really matters. At the end of the day, we KNOW Peter is a heroic kid, we KNOW he wants to do the right thing, and May shows us she's the one who directs & guides him to do that. Do we really NEED to see a spider bite, or a tragic moment that makes Peter Spider-Man? No--what matters is that he's a hero, and what the writers choose to do to develop his character is what we should judge them by--not the asinine things that we already know & take for granted. That May is his guidance & not Ben doesn't matter--they're there as concepts, not as constants. Tobey may have been the spiderman I first grew up with Andrew was the spiderman I hold closest to my heart. The voice I hear when I read the comics, the spiderman that feels most like me and to see him deliver this heartfelt and different performance to the other two spider men. The only thing I really hate about this film is right before or after the mid credits scene when it says the producers want to commemorate avi arad who without his vision this would have happened. Honestly, Peter's decision to jump directly to Dr. Strange didn't feel weird to me, but I was thinking of him as someone who's last several years have been spent interacting with and relying on people like Iron Man, Captain America and Dr. Strange. He helped save the freaking world from a Thanos from a different timeline after not existing for 5 years. Hell, his last movie involved him being railroaded by "Fury" into helping with what they though was an inter dimensional threat. Even his daily life as Peter involves using a ridiculously high tech suit made out of nanites along with his literal super powers. In light of all that, for him to immediately resort to asking an Avenger to make everyone forget that he's Spider-Man makes total sense. I'll admit Dr. Strange felt a bit out of character, but not that much. In his defense, he only agreed to help Peter after he told him that it was effecting innocent people's lives, not just his own. I'm also pretty sure they were trying to hit home that while Strange has grown a lot he's never really gotten over that innate recklessness that caused him to get into that car crash in the first place. He still the same guy who fiddled with time the moment he had the opportunity and as this movie points out this isn't the first time he's used this spell and for far more frivolous things. I imagine this behavior is going to be the highlight of Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

Tobey's Spider-Man is the one with heart. He used emotions to overcome Doc's arms, Sandman, and Harry Osborn, making them into allies in the end. Tom's Spider-Man is the one with smarts. He beat Doctor Strange, fixed Doc's arms, and came up with a solution to everything in the end. Andrew's Spider-Man is just a cool dude with some serious issues. I can't really compare them, each of their universes were just built different.

I think it actually is pretty messy. Some scenes work only if you have nostalgia. For example scene when other Spideys console Tom's Peter Parker works only if you saw and loved other movies. Otherwise, you realise these two guys are total strangers to Tom's Peter that just happen to have the same name as him - he literally has no idea who they are, if they are even good people, so at a point of great grief his words of sympathy should not count for much. They count for something only because WE know Toby and Andrew's incarnation of Spider-men. Or the fact that Dr Strange casts world-altering spells because 3 people did not get to university is as stupid as Thanos' plan for fixing the universe. I mean if Kingpin or some other mafia was after Peter's friends, one could buy it. As it is, is more like "just don't you dare think about it - quick! quick! - here are some pretty explosions, isn't that nice?." Come on!

Especially at a point where I was questioning if I should keep on. That bridge is definitely fair to cross automatically, even if they're not true future selves they have the most relation to Peter that anyone could when it comes to making choices in life. As for the Doctor Strange stuff, I think he probably has the same reasons as Tony Stark to help him and give him dangerous tools/favors. He knows he literally was complicit in putting a teenager into a battlefield (especially the end of Endgame). Necessary but not necessarily good, even in war times we don't usually send high schoolers to battlefields. Stark and Strange both had relatively safe childhoods, and got to choose their powers to help people later in life, while Peter is just a literal kid who accidentally got powers and felt obligated to help people with them. So seeing Tony give him a favor of a mechanical murder suit (not to mention those glasses) wasn't out of character, and for the same reasons Stephen gave him a favor to try fixing his life after being a hero made it a mess. In both cases these men were being generous, but arrogant--providing the solution they would have used for themselves, not necessarily the solution that was right for Spider-Man. And in the end Peter made the choice to become forgotten by both of them (or I should say Tony's estate manager and/or Happy forgot him). He decided to drop the magic and tech access, to do his thing, the Spider-Man way, which is what really made it a coming-of-age story.

I don’t think it’s unnatural at all that Strange is callous about the fates of villains from other universes. It especially isn’t contradictory of Infinity War, where he had stakes, both for his person and his universe, in the outcome, no matter how slim his chances. Think of the sheer vastness of the multiverse. It’s hard enough to have care for people you don’t know in your own world, but to risk destabilizing the multiverse and compromising your own world, just to give these villains a second chance at life in their other realities requires a pretty crazy level of compassion.

I think when it comes to critiquing the mcu spider-man, we shouldn't compare it to the other franchises because the mcu Spiderman movies are achieving something different to the other iteration. The Raimi and Webb movies are stand alone films while The Watts movies are tie-ins to an ongoing saga. I think what they did with Tom Hollands spidey while not being my favourite interoperation of the character, is perfect for the MCU. If you are going to put Peter in a bigger universe, he will benefit from that. Yes I can agree that sacrifices some of the core aspects to his character but to me thats not a bad thing at all. I think while I can agree the mcu Spiderman movies aren't impressive in terms of style and personality but they are great MCU movies. The last time I watched the mcu Spiderman movies, I looked at them more as MCU movies instead of just movies and I liked them a lot better in that perspective. They may not stand out as spider-man movies because they are mcu movies. But I think its completely subjective if you think thats a bad thing or a good thing. I just like the mcu spider-man because of how well it acts as a puzzle piece in a larger puzzle and the unique stories that can come out of that, that we haven't seen before.

I have to disagree on how you think Strange was acting out of character by wanting to send the villains back to die. The basis of your argument is that you believe that Strange didn't know the steps that needed to be taken in the 1 possible outcome to defeat Thanos, and thus you frame it as him believing in a miracle and not science and facts. However, there's evidence to suggest in Endgame that he did know the specifics of that outcome and Tony did in fact needed to die for Thanos to loose. In a deleted scene for Endgame, the heroes meet up during the final battle to hatch a plan. And when Tony confronts Strange about the prediction he made 5 years ago, Strange responds: "If I told you, it wouldn't happen" so he *knew* about the specific steps that needed to happen for this outcome, he just stayed quiet about it to everyone otherwise things wouldn't have played out that way. Tony didn't need to know about his death in order to keep the timeline intact. I agree, the film es divided in two differentiated half’s: Number 1: Peter dealing with the Mysterio aftermath (this is literally solved off screen during the Daredevil cameo). Number 2: The villains arrivals, this is definitely the best part of the movie. Anyways, I liked how in order to keep organically both half’s, the movie’s main theme was “learning how to get second chances”, you see how Peter struggled with the decisions he made at the end of the previous movie and how he was willing to fix everything, the villains also share this main theme since all 5 were people with bad luck (Electro was in a accident, Flint wanted to save his daughter, Otto lost his dream project, Curt Connors was a victim of his own experiment and Norman had a split personality, none of them were actually guilty), so in that way if Peter can have a second chance then why the 5 villains don’t? That’s something Spider-Man would do in essence and that’s why the ending hits emotionally: cause it’s Peter learning every second chances have consequences and the best thing to do is live going frontwards.

This is a reach and a half man. There’s nothing “obviously” implied about ANYTHING in regards to Tom’s version having any sort of relationship with Ben. Aunt may is simply meant to serve ben’s role in this version of Spider-Man, which is fine, it works for the sake of this Peter, we don’t need to create our own head canon here going off absolutely nothing in terms of a Ben existing and previously bestowing the wisdom upon Peter. For all we know Ben Parker was never in this peter’s life. Aunt may is suggested to just be the single aunt. Never mentions having gone through a divorce, or having lost a husband, literally the only time ben is ever even referenced somewhat is Peter’s luggage in far from home having the initials BP on them. And when the luggage is destroyed in the drone strikes, aunt may makes a joke about it and there’s no mention of it having any type of sentimental importance.

Since each section of the film takes slightly different directions regarding motivations and plot, some propels can overlook those flaws and some don’t like yourself. While I agree with most of your takes, I mostly enjoyed this one without the flaws holding me down. Also don’t mind that they “avoided Uncle Ben like the plague.” If they keep coming back to him as this cornerstone, to me it kinda deifies the importance of the “Uncle” and makes him this Messiah to the Spider-Man ethos, kinda like how Amazing Spider-Man 2 makes Peters DNA the key to the bite making him a chosen one. BTW still love Andrew’s as my fave Spidey. Still keep it up!

Fan-service is a term that is used to describe an act of generosity, compassion even ambition in works of fiction. On the other hand it is also perceived as unwarranted content for the sympathetic fandom. No way home is a fan-servicing virtue of a film. What’s most surprising is the delicacy and focus on theme, character and narrative. Granted the film deals with a multi-dimensional crisis (pun intended) of epic proportions however the film transcends emotional barriers by telling a thoughtful, inspiring and poignant story. One that is heartfelt yet audacious, extravagant, yet sincere. For fans and dabblers alike, satisfaction is a certainty as the film delivers the perfect gift of surprises, spectacle and most importantly soul. Is the film perfect? technically no, but depending on your expectations it may just be the ultimate Spider-Man film. A true tear-jerker, a definite crowd-pleaser, an instant classic. Stan Lee would be proud to know that with this film, his legacy is complete. His ingenious creation about a friendly neighbourhood hero has now subverted the language of cinema. 9.5/10

For me, one of the big highlights was J. Jonah Jameson being this Bill O'Reilly-esque online pundit. I haven't seen that mentioned by too many people. I really enjoyed the Miles Morales reference, and I do see it as foreshadowing an inevitable appearance. Andrew seemed really haunted here, and I think that he got redemption by saving MJ was really classy. But I wonder how much of his real-life feelings were channeled here. Everyone knows he didn't get a fair shake. Would like to see Feigi tap Gerard Way to work on the MCU, as he contributed to the Spiderverse graphic novel and has done wonders as the creator of Umbrella Academy.

Your main complaint was Tom Hollands spiderman was a different spiderman with a different origin story than the other two? Thats kinda the whole point guy. This is a spiderman who got his start from Tony stark instead uncle Ben. He comes to be spiderman in a universe where superheros are already a thing unlike the first 2 spidermans where Peter Parker doesn't have superheros to work with. This trilogy gives us an alternate story of how spiderman becomes a superhero and what kind of superhero he becomes. Youre complaining that he isn't exactly like the other two franchises. Tom Holland will be in a second trilogy starting after the events of no way home, with the death of May instead of Ben but with the same message of "with great power, there must also be great responsibility". And fan service can be an amazing thing, this whole movie was fan service done right, unlike fan service in other properties. Ie davos saying "I thought you'd still be rowing" in game of thrones season 7. This movie is a great ending for a great trilogy about a spiderman who's an alternate version from every other spiderman we've seen before, and it gives us a new version of his origin with the same message but in a different way.

The thing about fan service is that I can't help but thinking it wasn't sincere. They didn't do their homework, they just searched some memes on Reddit. They basically ignored the fact that the first movie ended with "Peter... don't tell Harry" by having Ock knowing about Osborn being Goblin for exposition's sake (making looking Harry like a fool for being the only one to not know about his father being Goblin until the end of Spider-Man 2), they ignored the fact that Octavious was a great friend of Curt Connors' and having him to cure Lizard at the end would've been much more powerful and they could've built a small tiny mini-arc between Raimi's Ock and Webb's Lizard where the "good Ock" would've tried to tell him about his Connors to remind Webb's Connors about his humanity, Tobey could've told Tom about Flint Marko being his uncle's killer and how he gave him a second chance at the end of Spider-Man 3 (to mirror Tom's situation with Goblin), the fact that Tobey said that his best friend died after he tried to kill him was just disrespectful to Harry's redemption and the fact that he never mentions that Spider-Man 3's final battle was the first and only time he fought in a team gives him no emotional stake in NWH's final battle (unlike Andrew when he saves MJ), there should've been a scene where Andrew magnetizes his webshooters to take on Electro just like Gwen taught him to (and maybe a scene where he tries to give the advice to the other two and THAT's the moment when they find out about Tobey's organic webs), there should've been a fucking interaction between Tobey and Willem, especially one where Tobey mentions Harry to make Norman come back by telling him that Harry followed his father's footsteps and died and THAT should've been how they turned Green Goblin back to Norman Osborn, not with a fucking antidote, storytelling and character moments that actually evolve those characters instead of dumb plot devices, especially when you think that Tom needed Stark tech to cure Ock, while Tobey simply used his words. And that scene could've been foreshadowed by Tobey and Andrew talking about Harry and mentioning the fact that Harry became the Green Goblin in both of their worlds, with Andrew mentioning him killing Gwen and Tobey mentioning his redemption to also give another input to Andrew's Spidey to come out of his bitter, angry Spider-Man days. Fan service isn't inherently a bad thing. Fan service is a great chance for the audience and the filmmakers to geek about something together, reminding us that we're all fans. When fan service isn't genuine, but just a mean to distract me from the filmmakers shortcomings... that's when I get angry. And this movie made me both happy and angry at the same time. You could say that it's pretty good and I'd agree, you could say that it's fucking garbage and I'd agree.

I wasn't really a big fan of the 1st 2 Tom Holland Spider Man films, but they righted the ship with No Way Home. What I'm really hoping for is that the 4th film picks up where this left off with classic red & blue Spider Man, no Stark Tech, Peter struggling to get by, being the loner / outsider with a closely guarded secret identity like in the comics. Also no aliens / magic / multiverse, more of a down to earth crime story, introduce Black Cat as the "villain" & Spider Man's love interest. Don't immediately throw Venom / Carnage into the mix.

I honestly believe Matt Murdock Volunteered to be in the case. A street level superhero with a secret identity protecting a sorta street level superhero whose secret identity got revealed isn't that far fetched when you think about it. And the reason for a single cameo is probably because daredevil is among the best superhero shows out there and yet a lot of folks haven't watched it because it's non cannon to MCU. I believe the reason for this appearance is marvel saying to the fans of the show "we hear you". Again. It's a personal opinion.
