I should have foreseen the inevitable. Folks are pointing out there are places far colder than Japan with lots of snow, which is all well and good, but remember, very cold doesn't equal lots of snow. Cold + moisture = snow. Japan gets hit by freezing Siberian winds that come across the Sea of Japan carrying silly amounts of moisture. - GOOGLE it for more explanations and cracking good snow photos.

You: What does the fox say? Chris: Weird noises? Foxes in japan: *weird cuteish yelping noises* Grown European fox: hold my rodent... *loud screaming as if from a woman being assaulted in the forest* And always at night time. It's extremely creepy first time you hear it, especially if you don't know beforehand what a fox sounds like...
@despairia4 жыл бұрын
Never fear, European foxes also make the weird yelping sounds (called gekkering). I was only familiar with the "woman screaming in the night" fox call, so when I heard a mess of what I believed to be magpies in desperate straits in my yard one night, I was very confused and had to sleuth around online to figure out what the noise was. If I recall correctly, foxes gekker to resolve disputes without physical fighting.

@monhi64 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s an island country, so even knowing little about Japan especially it’s climate I can tell you the wind likely blows over the Sea of Japan picks up a ton of moisture then hits the mountains which sends the air up forces all the precipitation out which DUMPS snow. I’m not positive it blows from the west in Japan but it does that mostly everywhere across the planet. So the difference is that NY or DC, they just have dry ass land to the west of them and it’s already given up most of its moisture.

It actually doesn't rain in the UK. Toyama alone gets about 4 times the amount of precipitation London gets and I'm from London. For the past few days I've watched about 95% of your videos. I stumbled upon this channel after my wife and I made plans to visit Japan in the next few weeks. I've never been there, and your videos and sense of humor make Japan seem like a place I'd seriously enjoy living in. looking forward to your next video and visiting Japan. p.s. you totally have the same style and humour of my core friend group, I believe you'd definitely be a friend of ours if you lived here in California. p.p.s. Do people say "p.s." in comments? p.p.p.s. just checking that you're still reading this. have a nice day.

Chris please keep making more videos. You're the only thing helping me get through my wretched law school exams. P.S. if you're ever in Tokyo please make a video of where the best places to eat are. I'm studying abroad there for a week next year and if I don't gain 10 pounds while in Tokyo, taking Japanese law will be all for nothing.

Snow is soft so you can jump from medium heights without it hurting that much. Source: Childhood me jumping off roofs during winter.

@@VeryEpicPotato Yeah but on pistes the layer of snow is quite thin, and you can go quite fast on them. When falling at those speeds it's quite possible to bruise or sometimes even break something. I'm lucky to magically never have broken something, but my father has on two occasions. Source: Been skiing since I was 3 :P

Those snow banks look pretty familiar living here in the Canadian maritimes, lol. Nothing closes here for snow unless its super severe, similarly as well.
