Some people take risks and usually fail and some people take highly paid secure jobs from the minority that succeeds. Most of those smart people who also finish the university will have a very solid guaranteed job with nothing to worry about. And also, the fact that he is inferior in that group means nothing overall. He is still probably well above the top 1% in his abilities, and he is using those abilities to compete with significantly inferior group of people. That's smart.

Is it really the most difficult major even more difficult than Math? If yes, what makes it so?
@HeisenMannj5 ай бұрын
Same for me , I used to be smug undergrad who thought GR was the pinnacle of Physics but Quantum Mechanics was like a punch in the face and QFT was like kick in the testicles...Even Ed Witten said QFT is by far the most difficult thing in Physics. Its depressing though , no amount of money could make up for the fact that I cant be a Theoretical Physicist.
@HeisenMannj5 ай бұрын
What do you mean more difficult than Math? QFT contains very advanced Mathematics , Even good Mathematicans couldn't understand the some of it and non to mention the non linear concepts and confusion you get while you study it@@redfordkobayashi6936
@subrotoxing82145 ай бұрын
@@redfordkobayashi6936 because you need to be gifted in abstractions/thought experiments as well. For example, what if the ghost realm is occupying the same space that we are occupying but because of the difference in how our eye,ear,nose,tongue,skin perceives the vibrations than the ghosts we are not perceiving their realm. You need to figure out your math skills to equate these kinds of abstractions Einstein was great in thought experiments. But bezoz in his interview with lex friedman hinted that there are so many gifted thought experimenters/abstractors in the field now. Einstein could get away with being the greatest thought experimenter in his era despite his math skills being mediocre. But these days to be the theoretical-physicist who earn nobels you need to be world class in both your math skills and abstractions.

same for me, though I did not want to be a phycisist but a mathematician and a computer scientist. I studied computer science, I also took math as a minor but I was just not good at neither. I dropped math and in any event I still want to be better at math knowing very well that it will never happen, because of the set of genes I have. I really hate this world@@HeisenMannj

One of the best stories about studying physics. Great story, Mr Bezos. Actually, Bezos was a very smart guy, but his mind was more into writing code and that may have taken his focus off concepts in physics. I am stating that as a graduate in physics and also one who has taught students in the subject for years. People who get very practical with tech stuff often cannot do very well in theoretical stuff. That does not mean they are not smart, it just means their focus is on solving tech problems not theoretical problems. That is my view.

I will complain because who doesn’t care and think again of what they do or speak at work. With respect and duty to work together when hit done time go the home for relaxing. Should not make another human to feel mad or bad mood . I think that if what I don’t want I would not do that for others . But others they never mind
