I like how the Consecration to St. Joseph puts it (paraphrasing): "To be chaste is to have self-mastery, to be in control of your passions and sexuality; it is not repressing or rejecting the beauty of human sexuality. On the contrary, chastity preserves the human heart and body for authentic self-giving. St. Joseph was married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and he treated her with respect, dignity, and reverence. If men today were more like St. Joseph - protectors and defenders of beauty, instead of users and abusers of the feminine mystery - what a different world this would be."

I think if Christ had married, it would have detracted from his mission because his immediate family would have a legitimate claim to his divine personhood in a manner different and superior from the rest of humanity whose attachment to Christ is by adoption. Thus, defeating the equal destiny we all have in christ since some will have a higher claim to the kingdom of God than others because of blood relations with Christ. Meanwhile, in reconciling the jews with the gentiles, christ broke down all barriers that seperated them so they all could enjoy God's promise of salvation not by race but by faith. Having a biological family will be reinstating the division that he came to bridge.

This is exactly what I think about the subject and tried to explain to a friend of mine. Marrying and having sex under marriage is not a sin, but Jesus didn't come to have an earthly family, it was simply not part of his purpose. Some people think that Jesus having a wife and kids would be scandalous (their view on marriage and sex is that it is inherently dirty in that case), I just think it would be weird.

We gotta have some kind of collaboration between Christopher West and the DW hosts: specifically either Ben Shapiro’s Sunday Special, Michael Knowles, or Matt Walsh. That’d be perfect to help intersect the theology of the body with the conservative political movement.

I always find it fascinating how Ephesians 5 is regularly referenced for marriages and their associated relationships; but the message of The Church as the Body of Christ , with Jesus as the head is overlooked. The Church was blessed with authority to serve as the living Christ in the body and blood in the blessed sacrament of the Holy Eucharist when it was instituted at the Last Supper. 8:01 I Love how the matter of Divorce is used to highlight the significance of unity among Christians, With Jesus married to The Church.

A profound question. I'm thinking of so many issues it would have caused. Jesus did marry, the whole Church! He consummated His love for all of us by dying for us! His death must have devastated His mom and would have done the same if He had married, to His wife. He loved women and men too much to marry one, at expense of so many others. He came to serve and give His Life for all!

Jesus Christ came with a mission, to save humanity. To show us the path, the way, to tell us the truth, to spread faith and hope and salvation. He did not come to indulge in worldly things, He came to elevate us out of those things. He probably wouldn't do that if He could, it would probably sully His holiness.

Should Christians consider pursuing it? If so, in what circumstances might it be appropriate, and when might it not be? How does that affect the marriage? What about single person?

The Holy Spirit spoused Our Lady though. And as a result the human family became one family with God, was divinized, raised in dignity above the angels, and we in our turn marry Christ. And Christ within us generates Himself in us, with the participation of Our Lady and the Holy spirit in raising Him within us. Everything in order. Isn't it wonderful? We're basically all impregnated by Christ and He's reborn within us. This is what approved mystics have written.

Jesus came among us with a mission foremost, which was to offer his life to the Father in atonement for our sins. People even raising this question must have trouble getting over that Dan Brown book and don't look at the Sacrifice for what it is.

When you hear the word mystery replace the word with sacrament and you will have knowledge wisdom and understanding (father John Hardon) The mass is a wedding feast and we are asked to partake we profess our faith our vows and the marriage is consummated in the reception of the Eucharist For Jesus is the eternal groom and the church his bride and that includes man woman and child The new mass is 2/3rd century liturgy and we are just starting to understand it the first half is lectio devina and the second part prayer of the heart Lectio divina was used by monks like st Ignatius and prayer of the heart by st Theresa of Avila Previously they were mixed together but we now have a greater understanding of prayer and contemplation It’s a pity so much of Vatican 2 was ignored as the transition into the true meaning of the mass forgotten

Here is an explanation: God taking flesh to marry a young human lady... would nt that be abuse? Imagine a God marrying a woman... then having babies who are Sons of God?? Jesus is the Only Son of God. This would have made God a very bad God.
@911theanonymous16 күн бұрын
I have only heard a little of this and I have to answer. Jesus could not be married because he’s God. He didn’t come to earth for that purpose.
@PSNSMANIACALMIND1st16 күн бұрын
To clarify Pageau's point; "It didn't happen that way, so I don't know how to answer that question" means, "Christ did not cause it to be in this way, and I won't speak for Him as if I know better." The point raised in this video is solid, but ultimately a human conjecture. There is no reason to assume that Christ could not have made it so in such a way that marries these bookends through an earthly marriage. All we can know for certain is that He did not.
@kerrielizabethrobinson843515 күн бұрын
I always thought the question of Christ “marrying” a human woman to be confusingly stupid. Marriage was created for humans, who are finite creatures who are not complete on their own. Marriage is only for humans since only humans are incomplete without a spouse. God is perfectly infinite in the Holy Trinity, and therefore perfectly complete. Only a false messiah COULD take a human spouse imo…

Yes, ordaining married men to the priesthood is normal in the Eastern churches and is sometimes allowed in the Latin ("Roman Catholic") Church. There are no married bishops, however. In the Latin church bishops are taken from the celibate clergy; in the East they are taken from celibate monks.

How do you know (we) for sure that Jesus was celibate. If a woman "dries her tears on your feet with her hair...." excuse me but, there is something going on there. That is just a 'snap shot' in one day. Lots of unsaid items left out of The Gospels. Hmmm...

@Lierelai16 күн бұрын
Jesus has not married yet. He is betrothed to his Church. Therefore he could not marry a single woman, (whom He created).
@adrianaansaldi924816 күн бұрын
It’s pretty clear to me that Jesus is in a different level. He had a purpose when He reincarnated in the sinless human woman. Why He will deviated of His high purpose? Getting married is a priestly call, the sacrament of marriage is equal to the sacrament of priesthood and both have different purposes but are conducted to the Kingdom. I have this conversation with Moonies specifically and Mormons about the continuation of marriage after life. Jesus is very clear that that kind of relationships are not needed in the next realm or in the New Earth that will be recreated by Him, as The Father’s original plan, paradise and that is why we will recover our bodies because the planet would be recreated but perfect, in Heaven being spirits would suffice but that is not our final destination. It would never had sense that Jesus considered it at all. He was focus in our Salvation and that’s it. We all are His sisters and brothers and children’s of God the Father. He is sinless too being God and bring children it would have being very complicate. In what level these “ children “ of Jesus would be? They would be also God, what they nature would be? What about the wife? It should be another sinless woman? So Mary wouldn’t be the only one? It adds a new grade of complexity that Jesus wanted to avoid apart that reproduction only serves purpose on Earth not eternity. What upset me a lot about these panels is that the Catholic ones as Barron there representing us don’t talk the truth, simple and clear, they try to convalesce and also the non Catholic don’t get the knowledge of our doctrine straight, they had the perfect opportunity to evangelize and convert Prager specially that is Jewish and probably Talmudic, but not, few Catholic explains straightforward Jesus Doctrine. They wouldn’t ask stupid questions about Jesus marrying or why. It’s pretty obvious why He didn’t consider it. Also we have married priests Barron, we have in USA around 409 married priests, not married after but being accepted being married. Barron lost also the opportunity to clarify that. He is so popular and invited everywhere and he doesn’t explains things correctly, it’s so frustrating. You on the other hand do, I will pray for you to be more invited, but also I wonder if everyone invites Barron just because he is so soft and lukewarm and nobody would learn much, because if they learn they will become Catholics. Mmm..
