Even from the standpoint of an evil genius, I think it was smart of him to make his more chaotic experiments weak to something. His first though wasn't "I created it, therefore it serves me." It was "How can I stop this thing if it turns on me?"

@@sarahmorley7751 A simple, yet crafty and effective evil strategy is why. I'll explain it. For example, if you have 2 pairs of shoes, and Stitch steals the left from the first pair, and the right from the second, you'll be able to get by just fine with a mismatched pair of shoes. And if he steals both shoes, then either he'll have to steal twice as many, which can slow him down, or one whole pair will survive. But if it's only the left shoe specifically, then it's less work for Stitch, letting him steal more shoes from more people, and far more annoying for his victims, as they have only 1 foot covered, and they can either keep going with only the 1 shoe, replace both shoes, or learn to go barefoot, and they'll be stuck with or have to throw away the 1 remaining shoe. And with how much shoes cost, I'd say that's quite evil.

This actually just gave me a new theory about him. I'm thinking, that Jumba is definitely not evil, at least in the way that he tries to come across. If you look at most of the things his experiments do, and the chaos he described his experiments causing; I think it is clear to see that he fits more into the mould of large scale galactic mischief maker, more like a prankster then an evil scientist.

I don't think he was evil. He just needed to use that gimmick to get himself noticed in society. But, here's a question to theorize on: Are Jumba's genetic experiments able to mate and have offspring with each other (male experiments mating with female experiments I mean), or has Jumba programmed his experiments to be incapable of doing so? Seeing as Stitch and Angel have a bit of a thing for each other, this is a question that does twirl around in my head sometimes. I know this is Disney we are talking about, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who wonders this.

Good theory. I don't think it was so much an evil facade as it was him subconsciously adding a way to reform his experiments because of his underlying good nature. It's likely he was pressured by his family to behave the way he did and to create his experiments, but at the time he probably was fully invested in being an evil villain or at least trying to. However because he had a good heart and was not truly evil he made it possible for his experiments to become good as he secretly wished he could be.

I have a headcanon that back on his homeworld, Jumba was basically the "evil genius nerd' that everyone laughed at and made fun of. Perhaps Jumba's desire to create these experiments and be an evil genius stemmed from the same source that Lilo creating her pictures and feeding Pudge and loving Elvis did.....his desire to have a family and feel connected to something. He SAYS he's an "evil genius" and he creates his experiments like Stitch to be monsters that destroy everything, but I think this is just a mask....his true purpose for the creatures was that he missed his home and his family and he wanted to fill the void in his heart by creating a new one. That's why all of his experiments, starting with Stitch, turn out to be good and he finds happiness again when he and Pleakley find their new home with Noni and Lilo.

Jumbas too adorable, oafish, bumbbling and teddy bearish to be truly evil. If Disney wanted to halfway try to sell that he was true evil, his design should have looked more like Capain Gantu's and he would not have given a damn if Stitch hid behind Lilo to avoid capture. A true evil person would have blasted through the little girl with the plasma-whatever ammo to get what they wanted. Besides, he would also not care if he looked like a monster to humans. If Jumba were truly evil (he is bumbling, but he is competent if nothing stands in his way), this would make for a short film.

Well this was great :D Love this series but I have a more simpler version of why Jumba's experiments could be turned good. I think Jumba created these experiments like intended to be experiments and though they were programmed to be evil he purposefully gave them the ability to reform them so that he could have control over them as their master if something was to ever go wrong. I think Jumba was always evil until he reformed throughout the series but couldn't we say that anyone who was influenced by bad people would become bad? So we could theoretically say _if going by this video_ that everyone has a good side and are manipulated by evil. But from what point does that make you not evil? Its kinda a question on whether humans or characters are inherently good and I think that in the context of this Jumba was evil but because his surroundings influenced him it didn't make him any less evil

Like cleaning the house; one that understands business, chief cook, popcorn maker, insulted. Those experiments are not evil…only chaotic. He never expected Anyone to try to turn them good, which is why lilo is considered weird in the first place. She run towards things that ppl should be afraid of. That's also a reason stitch stayed with lilo... Bc he didn't belong anywhere. Even in the show he still had destructive tendencies and couldn't be 100% trusted bc of his wrecklessness. Stitch was never 100% reformed, and although he helped out alot, his original programming is made relevant throughout the entirety of the series. Stitch is still destructive, he still steals peoples left shoes, and when he injest coffee he acts wild and irrational. The only thing he can't do is destroy large cities bc hes stuck on an island.

For some reason, I ended up writing a long essay for my take on it - here it is. Honestly, I think he just took to calling everything he did evil because it was more feared and respectable. He certainly didn't want to called "idiot scientist" for his work; that's just demeaning and enraging. Also, it seems Jumba got his notion of evil from a children's cartoon (you know the kind, where silly villains do bad things simply because they think it's bad.) Funny enough, he was in a children's cartoon, so he likely attached the evil label to everyday, mundane things for the sake of it, including his family (I never saw them). His ex-wife doesn't count - most people think their ex is evil by default due to how relationships break down. More serious villains usually commit heinous acts for a goal that requires evil means, or they.have a deadly perception that keeps them from recognizing their own evil (Judge Frollo is a big example of that). Jumba never seemed anywhere near that level, he just liked making experiments that caused trouble, and I don't think he really had an ultimate motive for it, except to play mad scientist. I do recall there were some experiments he did NOT want awakened because the disasters they could cause really were bad. IMO, the experiments end up failing to be evil because they were created as blank slates with initial chaotic instincts. They give up their chaotic tendencies when they find another purpose they enjoy. Stitch was the same way, his initial instincts were to destroy, but he quickly found it unfulfilling and realized being a family with Lilo was much more worthwhile, in just a couple days. Jumba was intrigued when he first observed this, stating he never did give Stitch a greater purpose, pondering what it's like to have nothing, not even memories. Judging by that, and how he described his experiments, it sounds like Jumba did not actually awaken or test many of his experiments in a long-term environment, with 625 being one of the exceptions (which is why he knew 625 was lazy but able to speak coherently.) In effect, his experiments were still illegal, and public perception can often be rounded down to a simple-minded sense of "Why would you do anything illegal except to commit evil schemes?" But genetic experiments don't seem inherently evil to me, just unpredictable and loaded with potential trouble, unintended consequences, and big moral and ethical questions. To sum it all up, Jumba just likes making troublemakers, and he took the "evil" label because it was more fun that way. Plus "idiot scientist" was not the label he liked.

Ok actually this is a rather good explanation. I can accept that, congratulations. Not many People can win me over that easily, especially if it about Favorite Charcaters of mine (Jumba being one of my alltime most favorite Disney Characters).

I'm happy I was able to bring a new perspective with a good explanation. Thanks for watching!

My personal head cannon was either: Wouldn't you get a little bored making evil things 628 times? Plus stitch provided a more interesting learning opportunity. Or he is actually much older than he seems and only does the evil experiments as a slow burn hobby. Maybe he only made one every 5 or 10 years when he was bored. XD

maybe it was supposed to be some sort of Failsafe Mechanism

I have a question, so remember how jumba and hamsterville were partners and they made all of stitches cousins as tiny little balls that if you put in water it activates them? They are mostly waterproof and water cant hurt them, but if you see the scene that stitch was created, he wasnt waterproof and he cant survive in water.. And leroy was also created to be EXACTLY like stitch so he is also not waterproof like stitch, but since you said that leroy was created with more advanced power to ya know make that experiment. But i dont understand why all of his other cousins could possibly be stronger than stitch, since he is weaker in water and the fact that at any moment, his cousins could attack since he is an unfinished project that jumba needed to fix this project that so failed, but the reason that stitch could not be waterproof could be that he wasnt charged enough and he could have that ability if he was charged a bit more.... Idk just something that i wanted to point out.
