I feel like the reason the Pudge one was deleted is because it was too dark, a scene where Stitch watches a fish god damn die in front of a child, remember, in a children’s movie, that’s way too much for the tone of the film. I’d love it to be in, but given it’s audience it’s perfectly understandable why it wasn’t.

@joewalker6434 жыл бұрын
The Death of Pudge scene is really poignant to both Lilo's and Stitches stories. The lines "you don't let let your family die, you don't ever" and her telling Pudge "I needed you" coupled with Lilo burying Pudge near her parents explains why Pudge was so important to her. In the film Lilo tells her dance instructor that Pudge controls the weather and towards the end of the film she tells Stitch how her parents died in a car accident on a rainy night so her feeding Pudge is her way of both dealing with her grief and protecting the people she loves. Stitch also learns about Ohana and how the actions we take affect the lives and emotions of others which is central to his character development. a really touching scene but i can see why it was left out. confronting death so bluntly was probably a little too dark for the films overall tone.
@neurodivergentsophie84114 жыл бұрын
The Pudge death scene was rewritten and turned into the opening of Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch. Stitch has a nightmare about reverting back to his destructive programming and hurting Lilo, and Lilo calms Stitch down by testing his goodness level!
@CheeseBlaster Жыл бұрын
Completely agree. I understand why it was left out but if the scene was kept in it would be a very smooth transition moment for Stitch, since for the first time in his life he would see that there are consequences for his actions. And I also liked how at first he just couldn't comprehend why Lilo was so upset about something he viewed as so insignificant, but after he sees her parents' tombstones he realizes what he has done. As much as I love the the design of Jumba's spaceship, I kinda wished they they'd have used some of the elements of that chase sequence. I also wish they'd have left the racism of the tourists in place as well. It easily explained why some of her classmate's probably didn't like her. As for Pudge's death, I don't think it was too dark. If anything it showed Stitch learning a VERY pivotal lesson.
@hailst0rmie4 жыл бұрын
Pudge's death would have been too dark for Disney's family friendly demographic from the perspective of the creators. As for the racism of the tourists being connected to Lilo's classmates, I'm sure that at least one of her classmates were also partially or fully native Hawaiian, so I'm not sure if it would be a reason for anyone besides Myrtle to dislike her (other girls always just went along with it)
@MouseGoat4 жыл бұрын
Yeah sure lets call it "racism" to say hey nativ person. racism used to mean something lot more horrible than being a awkward tourist, how is it even offensive to call somone native? SHE IS NATIVE!
@hailst0rmie4 жыл бұрын
@@MouseGoatThere was sort of a racist tone there. They assume she's native because of her physical appearance. In addition they kinda shout "do you speak English" assuming she wouldn't because they think she's native Hawaiian (but she does know English). They talked about her like she was less of a person and made assumptions tied to what race they thought she was.
@tjopj4 жыл бұрын
@@MouseGoat 1. The one tourist pronouncing Mahalo wrong (at least that's what she seemed to try to say) 2. The other tourist asking her if she speaks English. 3. Another tourist literally pointing at her and saying "look, a real native" and calling her cute in the exact same tone you would use to talk about a baby or a little dog while Lilo is just going about her day and warning people about the sirens. 4. The other tourist taking a picture of her. Those are all racist attitudes. Racism comes in different levels and ways. Just because she wasn't physically attacked it doesn't mean it wasn't racism. Racism means prejudice based on ethnicity. Those people have a preconception, an idea about her before knowing her, based on her race and on how she looks. Therefore, it's racism.
@babycakelings4 жыл бұрын
@@tjopj Agreed, most people don't really seem to realize that racism isn't just people being intentionally aggressive, it's sometimes more suttle and is most of the time due to ignorance rather then blind hate. So it would of been nice to see that side of it in this movie.

If they kept these deleted scenes, Lilo & Stitch would have been the greatest Disney movie of all time Not to mention an undeniable contender for an Oscar. The movie would have given better enotional understanding of the characters that would've elevated the movies quality to a whole new level. Stitch's transition from evil to good would be more natural. We'd get a deeper and more powerful depth on what causes Lilo's behavior. And we'd see how Jumba's attempt at creating 626 was done with some good intent, and while he is a mad genius, he was never evil overall. I feel I can safely say that this movie would have put every other Disney movie before it to shame. It's too bad that those particular scenes were ahead of its time

Here’s a little story on why it was changed. When production of the movie began, Jumba was originally a bounty hunter that was sent to Earth to capture Stitch. But the filmmakers decided that they wanted Jumba to know a lot about Stitch and understand his character. Initially, Stitch was the leader of this intergalactic gang. So they changed Jumba to be a former member who was left behind in a bank heist and had been rotting in prison for several years. He (like in the movie) would then be offered freedom in exchange for Stitch’s capture. When they had test screenings for Disney executives, Roy Disney went up to the directors and said “I liked Stitch when I thought he was young. But when i found out he was some 35 year old gangster, i was disappointed.” They realized that the gang wasn’t working. So they removed the gang completely from the movie and decided to make Jumba the scientist that created Stitch as the reason for his imprisonment.

Yes, the Pudge scene is dark. But I think that it would have still fit in the movie. Remember that the movie is about Stitch's character growth from being a jerk. So imagine seeing Stitch, who we see here watching Lilo in danger and Pudge dying right in front of him almost with glee to then later in the movie seeing him completely changed and now rising to the occasion to rescue Lilo when she gets taken by Gantu. The climax in a way mirrors this scene, and would make Lilo's words "you don't let your family die, you don't ever!" and "I needed you" resonate all the more. Not a complaint against the final movie though, I understand why it must have been taken out.

Wish they kept in the Bedtime Story and Pudge scenes. They give more personality and depth to the characters, and the bedtime one is really really cute! The Pudge one also shows us how much Lilo’s parents’ deaths have affected her (her choosing to bury Pudge at their graves and saying her mom gave them decorations as the flowers fell, showing how familiar she is with that area and how she still feels like her parents are with her and watching over her. Almost made me cry). And it definitely helped shape Stitch, realizing what Lilo’s words meant (“You never let family die! Ever!”) and realizing how bad his actions were, and showing remorse for it. I’m so glad they didn’t include Pudge’s death. That for me would have absolutely ruined the film. That was awful. Part of the beauty of the first film was the lack of direct tragedy. The main form was the tale of Lilo’s parent’s deaths. That was touching enough to affect the audience, yet not dark enough to really negatively affect people.
@meiyuuchuu73983 жыл бұрын
i really liked it, its the circle of life and everyone has to let go at one point. I know this since i also lost my parents in a tragic way. so holding onto something will never help a person grow. I think it would’ve been an element that helped piece together why Lilo is the way she is.

Pudge’s death scene was definitely I reasonable choice to scrub it from the movie. Little dark

Huh, feels a shame that Pudges death didn’t make final cut, powerful scene. Feels like it belonged in the final cut, being you never reely see pudge just that she feeds sandwiches to the fish. It seems like a proper build up and character building moment.

Daniel Crowley I know they changed the plane scene because of 9/11 but Jumba's attack? Why?
@gumbiman33507 жыл бұрын
It's not funny, they changed it for the better.
@jmachero58527 жыл бұрын
Daniel Crowley Well. I just looked at people's comments on Facebook book they said they seen kids saw violence and they turned out fine. They saw violence such as Tom and Jerry, Ren and Stimpy and Classic Superhero action packed tv shows. One of them said they grew up watching a horror movie plus there are other Disney movies that have blood such as Mulan and Bambi. Don't say I'm out of my mind. But I sorta believe they might actually be right I do easily influenced them. And the other websites. And I think the reason why everything in TV and Movies and everything outside the world is changed is because of 9/11. Sure this improved scene is more funny but not everyone is fond with it. Some just like it more strong, dark and emotional. What do you think? I'm just saying. Also the original version is more realistic than the edited version.

I kind of wish they kept the pudge scene in. It added more to lilo and stitch's characters.

I really wish they kept the Pudge the Fish scene ‘cause that would have added so much to Stitch’s character development but at least we can see these scenes on KZbin.
@annataymond95294 жыл бұрын
I don’t understand that. It was the most unnatural character development I’ve ever seen. As she’s screaming and crying in total desperation he just watches smiling like a total psychopath. And then she just yells at him afterwards and suddenly he feels bad? That doesn’t make any sense. I don’t think I would have been able to connect with him after that scene at all.
@joeyjerry15864 жыл бұрын
Anna Taymond, I get the point but Stitch did not understand the concept of life and death. He didn’t realize that he was killing Pudge and upon seeing the graves of Lilo’s parents, he understands that eventually people die and never come back and he understood what he did wrong. I can get people disliking the scene though.

I like the 747 scene. It is a great scene. Theoretically speaking, can you imagine what would have happened to Disney if the movie included the 747 scene and was released a few weeks before 911? They would have been blamed for giving the terrorists the idea. Lilo and Stitch is my favorite Disney animated movie. The final edit is very good.. The orchestration is excellent and the voice acting is superb. The plot and sub plots are meaningful and entertaining. I love when Lilo prays to God for an angel and God delivers but this is not realized until Stitch goes through his personal arc. The story moves into another phase when Stitch prays to God saying "I'm Lost". To me, this gives the movie real meaning. It links Lilo and Stitch as two that need to be together. He says it once, after looking again at the book, then truly realizing his condition, he stands up looks up to heaven and says '"I'm Lost".

TBH, i wish they should've kept the Pudge part. It couldve have an in-depth character development in Stitch's character. And also the OG Jumba vs Stitch, and the 1st 747 sequence. But i guess it makes sense because of 9/11. But they could've added the extra intresting character in there.

It was extremely unnatural, he was a total psychopath smiling at the suffocating fish being attacked by birds while Lilo was crying and screaming for his help, that he was amused by but when she just scolded him after sudden he felt bad? It doesn’t make any sense.

I think it's more so the fact they hijacked a plane, though it flying dangerously close to the city probably didn't help.
@brittanywilliford54285 жыл бұрын
LILO and stitch came out only 9 months after 9/11. I can see why a hijacked plane, or a plane going crazy through a city would be hard for the people who survived the attacks or lost family in the attacks because it hadn’t even been a year so the wound was still fresh.

I can understand why they removed the scene with Pludge because it makes Stitch responsible for murdering someone that Lilo considered almost as a family member which would clearly become a problem for Stitch ´s redemption. Now, I think they could also have changed the scene by having the seagulls killing Pludge while Stitch is not responsible but still enjoying the moment.
