Seen so many people just hate on Kimberly and boil her down to being one dimensional and a Guy/Ibuki hybrid. Good to see a vid giving her the love she deserves. Def one of my most favorite SF designs ever.

I'm surprised this video didn't go more into depth exploring the ninja elements of her character, and how the team at Capcom have chosen to adapt them into her style. For instance-and this is mainly speculation on my part-while Kimberly and her loud paint theming appears to lack the sort of discretion one would typically associate with a ninja, it is known that ninja utilized colored rice to leave coded messages for one another. One could imagine that for a 'modern' ninja, graffiti could be used for the same purpose-on top of how she uses it for smoke screens and whatnot.

Thank you! I don't understand why people think Kimberly is a boring or "stereotypical" when most of the characters from Street Fighter are "stereotypical". That's the point of the series. Stereotypes: Guile = Stereotypical White Military Man from America Guy = Stereotypical Japanese Ninja Dhalsim = Stereotypical Indian Yogi Man Zangief = Stereotypical Russian Wrestler / Muscle Man Balrog = Stereotypical Black American Boxer

Fair enough video. I really didn’t think of Kimberly until now, Muscle Mommy got my attention… But now, I will have to experiment with Kimberly too. I apologize in advance because I know I'm about to sound like a 🍆. I feel like only mentioning Guy once, when Kimberly's fighting a style 100% comes from Guy, and never mentioning the Spray painted logo of Final Fight, when Kimberly's entire outfit is an homage to the original Final Fight logo, even the blue high lights in her hair and accessories, were huge missed opportunities. there's no reference to SNK characters. Kimberly was in development around the same time as Isla. seeing as how Capcom and SNK are close its more likely they probably discussed graffiti based fighters and released their own original ideas. remember, SF6 was delayed a year, which is why we got the last season of SF5 that we did. Zarina does Capoeira which is a Martial Art designed to look like a dance not the other way around. the Izuna Drop is just a ninja trope. almost every ninja in any given fighting game has some form of that move. So, there's nothing in common Banderas besides they are both ninjas of African decent. Lastly, on the note of African decent you could have went without the "Yeah we're going there" comment on the pan African history segment. she's black, its part of our culture and an important part of her design. the fact that you can feel the eyeroll when you said that comes off badly, at least to me. just throwing that out there. hopefully it doesn't overtake the rest of this comment. I do appreciate the explanation of the Pan African colors, I do like the flo-jo reference and the four pillars of hiphop. that being said, the fourth is covered in the character select screen raps. Eminem dlc not required. lol

Hmm at the end of the day, design is always going to be subjective and open to interpretation. Certainly was not eyerolling with the Pan African segment, more acknowledging that its probably not what most viewers were expecting to be brought up in the video. Regardless, appreciate the respectful feedback. Rare find these days haha

@@TonyJenn Yes, it's a fact. It was all over Capcoms website when Street Fighter 6 came out. It specifically mentioned it in regards to hiring black artists to design black characters. They got a black skittles person to voice Eternity. It's pushed by global NGOs. You're coping if you don't think it's global.
