My heart broke halfway through book one of the Legend of Korra, because Korra was *so alone* the entire time: her friends just left all the Avatar stuff to her unless it directly affected them. (Which, fair, they had lives, wants and responsibilities, and shouldn't have to give all that up just because of who their friends are.) Korra didn't have anyone watching her back until Asami finally started doing it in book three. That's a big change from the Last Airbender, since it being a time of war meant that Aang's friends *had* to have his back because *none of them would survive* otherwise. It being peacetime meant that Korra was on her own unless there was someone directly threatening her life.

The OG Team Avatar had one goal that glued everyone together: ending the war and teaching Aang. It was an important goal that everyone shared and the characters kinda forget about all the little disagreements down the road and loved each other like close family. I mean they spend nearly 1 year on the same bison. Korras team avatar were just 4 random people she talked to in republic city. Everyone had they own life and own goals but liked the idea of helping the avatar. They were there for the big fights but not for the small struggles everyone had. More like distant cousins

I thought it was a pretty funny dynamic when Korra went back and forth between Mako and Bolin a bit in the first season, and it makes sense for her to end with Asami. But there were several problems with the group: * in season 3 and especially 4, Mako got completely boring and kinda pointless as a character. The one and only cool thing i remember him doing then was destroying the giant mech's core with lightning * For much of Korra, the whole team was broken apart with each character doing their own thing, and a lot of it wasn't that compelling. In ATLA, individual character episodes were more of an exception, happening during moments of serious growth for that character. * ATLA had way more endearing animals. I don't remember the name of Korra's, and i just watched Korra for the first time like 2 months ago lol * LOK has many auxiliary "team members" like Tenzin and Lin. ATLA had more of an "us against the world" vibe with the core characters, which makes the team feel closer.

I know it is NOT an Official term but at the time I called everybody in The Ember Island episode Team Zuko. In terms of Kids/Teens hanging out with each other I think they were way worst than Aang's Gang and Team Korra combined. Once Toph was in the group they felt less like 3 Refugees and actually a good family. After the Fall of the Fire Ferrets Asami entered the group but they ended up more as Republice City's most popular Clique than each others extended tribe.

I think the issue is we really only compare them to Ang’s avatar team but don’t realize that every team is supposed to have a different dynamic. I haven’t read the comic but seen a lot of videos, but it seems like all avatar past Ang and their team was more in line with how Korra team is. And I feel like the thing about Korra is her team is wider than just those 3 characters. I believe Tenzon and his kids can even be consider in her team and is actually more of a family bond team. Cause by book 2 they really start separating like they all have different goal and mission. While Ang team was brought up by a single war. Her team was dealing with multiple situations. They had no reason to always stick together like Ang team did. And actually I think it played into how she is downplayed as the avatar and really adds to the story. Like she went off alone cause everyone was ahead of her and that’s kind of the story. Everyone felt like they didn’t need an avatar and she is already suffering from ptsd and being paralyzed. It shows how people lives still go on and I think it was well written. I always say that the main issue with Korra and everyone comparing her to Ang. Their story are not suppose to be similar and they are both suppose to have the same values. Like Ang is peace Kyoshi is war Korra is patience

Bolin was honestly the only one who was kind of okay. The rest were pretty much shafted by the rush writing and forced changes to their character arcs because nick and the writers were going at it for what they wanted and what they were allowed to do. Yeah the main reason the villains were good in korra was because they were the ones they didn’t change much from their base concepts while the avatar team had three of it main team’s character reworked on the production floor. Sometimes that works and other times it gets muddling results.

I think the thing is that avatar is avatar and korra is korra. Korra and mako were an easy fit for a relationship but they didn’t work out because korra was immature. They still found a way to be friends. Korra and asami were like really tightly bonded friends. Korra wasn’t afraid to tell asami anything. They trusted each other and loved each other, and they seemed to get along over the fact that they both dated mako Korra and bolin is what kicked off the whole series. Bolin liked korra but quickly grew out of it. They share their silliness being the comic reliefs Mako and bolin are brothers ofc. They stand by each other for life. Not much more need be said Mako and asami were really good friends to start but it was a complicated relationship between them throughout. Mako was always there for asami And asami and bolin is the only one that’s difficult to explain, but like so is toph and zuko.

Aang’s team was so much closer and so much stronger. Toph and Katara being the greatest venders of their time and developing their bending and thus changing the world. Toph created metal bending Katara was for decades the only known bloodbender and the one who made the technique illegal, she also mastered waterbending and actually evolved it. People should just stop comparing them, it's like trying to compare Zuko and Iroh jr, that doesn't make sense.

Its realistic. These are a group of high school friends. It gets messy, you date each other, you go your separate ways and do your own thing after graduation and try to keep in contact. People may not like it but it was an accurate way of being friends while trying to go your own way and get jobs and live your life. Aangs team was different since they were focused on a single goal and no one was going to be able to live a normal life without completing it. It is all different circumstances. Mako and Bolin were poor and lived in the slums they needed to find jobs, they can't just hang out with Korra all day and follow her around. Asami has an entire business with hundreds of employees counting on her, she can't just lounge around with the team waiting for the next crisis.

The training scene, the fight in the earth kingdom, ALL the letters written while Korra was healing from the poisoning...K-A went rivals to teammates to friends to partners. Women communicate in different ways. And I am sure the sensors affected it. People still think Xena and Gabriel from Xena Warrior Princess were "just friends", even though they were married.

This level of copium is not healthy. I watched Korra excited to see Korrasami happen and it was the biggest disappointment. Their relationship with Mako was so stupid and messy but Korrasami themselves were not even friends until they were barely friends. And then comes the last ep and boom they're together. All relationships were terrible in this show

Korra and Assami was a subtle relationship that, if you look deeper, becomes a bit more understandable. They also just start to begin their relationship during the finally of the show. Like they just realized their feelings go deeper.

I honestly hated them throwing Korra and Asami together at the end. I don't care about their gender it just seemed so forced and random. Kinda felt like fan service too ngl.
