Really? How is "makes everyone around him better” any different? I get what u mean bc it’s something that can’t really be measured but just has a strong enough belief system ppl kinda just will into being real but I think a lot of arguments that specifically benefit Lebron feel the same way. A crop of all star/hall of fame talent have consistently shown that playing with Lebron leaves them statistically worse as players from most metrics but ppl will still blindly say otherwise solely dependent on how far the team goes in the playoffs. But when Kobe or someone shoots poorly in the "clutch” y’all wanna check the stats immediately and override the clutch gene analysis lmao. Practically every talking point in basketball has no validity if u wanna look at it that way. Can we even say that arguments such as "Lebron is the GOAT because of his basketball IQ!!” Isn’t any different? How can u truly measure "IQ” besides using the same basis of evaluation that ppl who ramble on about the clutch gene use; the elusive "eye test”? Or what’s the difference between someone saying Player A is better than Player B bc of their clutch gene and someone going well Player A is better than Player B bc of their basketball IQ? Lebron’s entire argument for goat is built off fault astrology based arguments so I don’t mind leading with the clutch gene argument when favoring someone like Kobe, Mike or even Bird. It’s only fair🤷‍♂️

There is a difference between scoring and scoring ability. In my opinion scoring should be based on ppg and total points. Scoring ability is the the ability to score from multiple points on the court on a good to great percentage. That's why I say LeBron is a better scorer but Bird had better scoring ability.

@@zion9247 That’s because we’re moving further and further away from scoring at the basket due to the impact the 3 point line has. You can be a dominant big and score all 2s and have 40 points, all the other team needs to do is make 14 threes to match your production offensively. Someone like Steph can get 8 out of those 14 by himself. Doesn’t mean what dude said is any less valid though, someone who is 6ft8 will always get chosen by coaches over someone 6ft1 just because of that “potential” due to their height, wingspan etc. making it easier for them to be a more impactful player.

I consider myself a huge LeBron hater but I'm not gonna lie, as of lately I've been defending LeBron a lot lately because every LeBron debate turns into a "players now are soft" debate or a "if x players was playing today they would average 40" debate and honestly I'm tired of the slander for nba that are playing now when it's compared to 90s or 80s players
@TheBeybladeMechanics
@TheBeybladeMechanics 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly agree. They say this era is soft but back in the day they would just bump into each other because most players back then aren't skilled as players of now. They complain that zone defense wasn't allowed but zone defense exposed players who only relied on their athleticism to past by their defenders.
@Herosennin

@@TheBeybladeMechanics No they bumped into players because it was ALLOWED. That's the entire point of it next to the enormous amount of spacing stars have today in comparison to other era's. Just look at this year in which players are allowed to play defense and compare it to last years in which multiple players scored over 30 or near 30? This year only KD averages 29. The rest is around 25 points. That's what happens when defense is actually allowed and players dont get bailed out with 10 free throws per game for minimal touches.

And you basically said, “Look what happens when they allowmore physicality on defense and people don’t get their 10 FT attempts per game, KDs averaging 29 and everyone else is around 25. Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying, but to me, it sounded a lot like a dig at Lebron and that you were saying a 6’8 250 pound athletic freak wouldn’t be as good in the more “physical” game. I was just pointing out that Lebron is putting up similar scoring numbers to his prime years, despite the fact that he’s 37 and the NBA is allowing a lot much more physicality this year. I’m not even some massive Lebron fan, but I do believe he’s the 2nd best basketball player of all-time and that he would be an All-time great no matter which era he played in.

In Bird’s first championship run, his scoring was awful in those finals, he dropped 8 points twice in those finals and only averaged around 15 ppg for the series, and even though he played well in other aspects, he was far from his regular season form, which is surprisingly a constant theme throughout his career

From 85 - he retired, Larry played with a broken back that would lose its structural stability. It would lock up in abnormal positions. He would have to get adjustments just to be able to play. He didn't even use any pain meds, shots, etc. Yet he was still able to dominate and put up stats. Thats just one of the injuries that he played with. He led the league in 3 pointers twice 85,86. FIRST 3pt contest winner in 86 then 87, 88. MVP 84 , 85, 86. It took Bird just two seasons to get his first ring whereas it took James nine. Larry turned the Celtics around his first season. From a 29 - 53 season to 61 - 21 season. Larry's one of 8 hall of famers to win rookie of the year & be named to the all NBA first team. The only one so far to have those honors after Larry is Tim Duncan. Not even Magic, Jordan, KD or Lebron have such honors. Has Lebron even made it to the 50/40/90 club? Lebron's best season FT%,(.780) is lower than Larry's worst season FT%(.836). Larry's career FT% is higher (.886) than Lebron's (.734). Larry's career 3pt percentage (.376)is better than Lebron's(.345). Larry's career DRB% 22.37, Lebron's 18.69. In playoffs Larry's DRB% 21.38. Lebron's 21.34. Lebron isn't even in the ranking of Basketball Ref list of NBA & ABA Career Leaders and Records for 3-Pt Field Goal Pct. Larry did all that playing 457 LESS games than Lebron.

Bird gets worse in the playoffs, has less rings than lebron and has less finals mvps than lebron. Lebron’s more clutch (no contest), a better overall defender and a better (although close) passer. Are you saying bird’s better than kareem because he’s a better 3 point shooter or a better free throw shooter? No you’re not stop with this shit. When Lebron averaged 3.3 3s a game he shot 40.6% from 3. Meanwhile Larry averaged the same amount with 38.9% from 3. The 3 point shooting is pretty close, though larry is better in a vaccum. Y'all think Larry Legend is so hilarious on defense huh? Then why did he average double-digits on rebounding throughout his entire career? That's right boys, Bird averaged about 10 rebounds a game. That's not playing defenseively? He averaged more rebounds per game than 7'0" center Patrick Ewing! Damn, you youngsters just don't know what you're talking about man. Larry Bird was the toughest player who ever played this game. He had bone-spurs on both feet and corrective surgery that would have had most players retiring afterwards. But Bird came back. Larry Bird had the structural bone in his spine destroyed and had to have it manipulated before each game just so he could manage the pain long enough to play for three hours each night. His orthopaedic surgeon said that Bird's spinal pain was so excruciating, it was like getting your finger jammed into a door, and somebody still pushing on the door! And the man NEVER EVER even took one painkiller or Tylenol in his career. He just played through the pain! Are you fucking serious! Let LeBron or anyone else even try playing with that kind of pain every night. Bird had to lie down on the floor of the plane when they traveled city to city. When the Dream Team went to Barcelona to play in the Olympics, Larry Bird couldn't even practice with his teammates, and still played great. Magic Johnson said Bird's the best player he's ever seen. James Worthy of the showtime Lakers said he'd much rather guard Michael Jordan than Larry Bird. Ex-Laker coah Pat Riley once said "If I needed a player to sink a shot to win a game, I'd pick Michael Jordan. If I needed a player to sink a shot to save my life, I'd take Larry Bird!" Larry Bird is not only the best small forward of all time, Larry Bird is the greatest player in the history of the League. Larry helped save the NBA in the 1980's when it wasn't even being played on TV. Most players were just a buch of coke-heads just seeing who could dunk the ball better. But when Larry Bird & Magic Johnson hit the league in the early 80's, it all changed man. They put NBA basketball back on the map! Bird's career was cut short because of injuries. And LB may have won more MVP's than Bird, but there's a reason for that. Larry Bird's three MVP's came in the mid-1980's, which was more talent-rich than in LB's time in the league. Bird had to olay against the like likes of Patrick Ewing, Sidney Moncrief, Julius Erving (Dr.J.), Ralph Sampson, Hakeem Olajuwon, Bill Laimbeer, Isiah Thomas, Scottie Pippen, Micheal Jordan, Dennis Rodman, Moses Malone, Clyde Drexler, Xavier Daniel, etc. And one more thing, Bird won three straight MVP's playing against all these guys. The only other's to win three in a row were Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain!

He is Literally half a percentage point from being the winningest player EVER ! BIRD has 3 Straight MVPS from the talent rich 80’s and took runner up 5 other times ! BIRD was the first NBA player drafted an entire season before he even entered NBA ! The BIRD rule ! He took college player of the year over MAGIC , taking a nobody team 33-0 and to the NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP ! BIRD took NBA rookie of the year over 2nd place MAGIC Johnson ! BIRD took the CELTICS from the worse record to the best record in the NBA his rookie season ! By the way , he was the only new addition to the Celtics that year ! BIRD took his first of three NBA championship in only his 2nd Season ! By the way , did you know BIRD also has Three (3) 3 - point contest wins ? BIRD was the founding member of the 50-40-90 Club ! Larry is the Only member to do it twice ! Is Lebron in that club ? BIRD a BETTER Shooter , fact , best sharp shooter the NBA has ever seen ! BIRD a BETTER rebounder , Fact , he averaged over 10 a game in his career ! BIRD a BETTER passer , fact , watch his dam videos, it obvious ! Bird has MORE heart and grit , fact , Larry played hurt most of his career , Lebum needs carried off court for a broken fingernail ! BIRD saved the NBA ( along with MAGIC ) and Lebron is destroying it ! Many Legends actually say BIRD Is the GOAT ! Players like …….. Kareem , Magic , Russell and others ! BIRD has nicknames like LARRY LEGEND and BASKETBALL JESUS ! JAMES has nicknames like LEBUM , QUEEN JAMES and LEFLOP ! So, What am I missing ? I could actually go on ……..

Only reason I'd take Bird over Bron is because of toughness. Bird was playing with a bad back and still giving opposing defenses buckets. Bron got a heat cramp and was subbed out. Brid is one tough bastard. And a legendary trash talker. He would get inside your head and there was nothing you could do against him. He was KG and Kobe before they were in the league.

A lot of “ifs” with lebron. Y’all jockin lebron too much on the scoring part. He’s not more efficient than Larry bird. He does not give you the same points with less of a bag. Sometimes you need FTs or a 3pt at the end. The game is close so you need an easy inside basket. All things bird had .. and he had it in the clutch. For big boy to say brin is more efficient and to take shots at the 5% bird stans is so corny. You can be objective and give an opinion without callin someone a “Stan”. More proof y’all are lebron stans

If Larry bird came in the same time as lebron and benefited from better nutrition, training and medical advances he would’ve had a longer career and potentially a better one than he already had…. Case being with rule changes favoring the offensive players which leads to increased FT attempts as well as his 3PA increasing due to era his scoring averages would b insane…. I can honestly say he would average a cool 34-12-9on 50-40-90 splits at his peak and 28-11-8 for his career… he would win atleast 2 MVPs maybe even 4.. a few scoring titles… atleast 1 chip if he has decent to no help and 3-5 chips if he has good teammates….
