Why Legacy NEEDS G1 [Legacy Needlenose Review]

In this review, Gei4Mei colorfully explains why G1 is still the king, as we check out our very first Legacy Evolution figure!

Sorry that this one took longer than I expected!
I was trucking along with this video, and I even finished the script, recorded, the audio, and had begun to cut together the video when I felt that the message wasn't strong enough.
So I went back, twice, and over all rewrote probably close to 40 percent of the script, which ended up being most of the first half. I think it's a little more clear what I'm trying to say, but I'm already making an effort to make sure the next video is more cohesive from the beginning.
Other wise, I played a lot more with lights and movement in this video. Filming always seems to be the part that I dread the most, even though I usually end up enjoying it.
I have a couple more videos in the plannig stage right now, so stay tuned! Also, watch out for my second channel, which will be going live very soon.

I normally don't get figures of characters I didn't grow up with, but I just loved the sculpting on his robot mode, especially the knight helmet head. Really looking forward to getting a Skyquake to go with him, though I'm waiting for the likely G1 repaint of him.

They can be hit or miss. Cyclonus had a good one. Armada Starscream is alright. I would even argue that Siege and Earthrise Starscream aren’t all that bad

I've got this one pre-ordered. Used to have the G1 fig as a kid and tbh... it's dear enough to me that I am very happy to have added it to the collection again last year. A brick with poseable arms, but a dear one despite the floppy visor. The new fig looks good, but I hate the G1 style targetmasters... The Titans/Legends/Siege/etc. ones were poseable at least.

The biggest problem with Needlenose is that you can unpin the backpack, and have a jet toy and a robot toy without either losing much. Pretty much like Earthrise Arcee- not to mention his guns, are just too big bricks of plastic. I would prefer if they didn't have any paint on them and just guns so it doesn't look like he's using toddlers as weapons. Or Hasbro can do something we know they can and make them transform into guns. They figure the transformer turning into the head of the headmaster but can't two minions transform into guns? Or at least one of them.

I miss 3rd party companies like Fansproject making CHUG scale figures to compete with Hasbro. I feel like Hasbro has improved their engineering but most figures fall short due to budget restrictions and they feel so cheap and light and they are even smaller now. Of course there are exceptions like Siege Jetfire, Kingdom Rodimus Prime, Siege Omega Supreme, and many others. I think the Deluxe figures generally suffer the most. I would not mind paying Voyager prices for figures that are Deluxe size if the quality was better as far as more plastic to cover up gaps or eliminate the waffling and also include signature weapons and accessories that the figures are known to have. This is why I'm gravitating more towards the Legends scale from companies like New Age and Magic Square that is improving on the mainline figures with better designs that are more accurate to the characters with less of the drawbacks of Hasbro's offerings.

I think Needlenose being a Siege figure, or even a PotP figure, makes a lot of sense. He was in the fan vote for Siege, and I think another after that, and he's kept losing. All the other losing votes got made relatively quickly, but Needlenose never was. So, they've been sitting on this design for a while, and I think it's because of the Targetmasters. There was no way to make him with the parts count required if they'd molded him with Siege-style Targetmasters (not a noteworthy enough character to bump him up to Voyager-size with a unique mold), but if they'd molded him *without* them he would've had a low parts count (but still too complex for Legends/Core, and Battlemasters weren't selling on their own). I don't think there was a way to fit him into the required size classes. So then they simplified the Targetmasters with Pointblank, and I think that simpler design paved the way for the existing Needlenose design to work in the Deluxe size class. Now I don't necessarily LIKE the simplified Targetmasters, but I see why they did them

Well alright, I guess should be applauding G1 a.k.a "The King" for getting me into Beast Wars and Dinobots since to me they were the only good parts I liked about G1 along with the Prime Wars/WFC trilogies,the Pretenders and Micromasters.
