I'm not sure if this was a tactical masterclass by Slot that you're making it out to be. Liverpool couldn't play through the Chelsea press or control possession so had to go direct. Unfortunately, their directness exposed Chelsea's defensive flaws. A draw would have been a fairer result. Why on earth Maresca had subs ready to come on 5 minutes into the second half just after Chelsea had equalised is a mystery. They came on after Liverpool went ahead.
@companymannАй бұрын
@@SuperFootballDrills Lol. 4-1 more likely.

Arne's plan didn't result in a masterpiece as Liverpool struggled in press and build-up. However, their directness and solid defense gave them the edge. Chelsea didn't have a noticeable chances except for the goal! So draw isn't a fair result:))) Btw majority of Chelsea player were not involved in the International break games but majority of Liverpool players did!!

@ZekkoFootballАй бұрын
I think Liverpool played so direct on the instruction of Slot not as a reaction to Chelsea's press. The reason I was impressed was due to the variety in Liverpool's game to allow them to get the win and as you say expose Chelsea's defensive flaws. Now the Maresca sub situation I agree with you, I was wondering what was going on there. Thanks for watching mate!
@SuperFootballDrillsАй бұрын
@@MRHashesha Palmer had two good chances (one just over, one blocked), Jackson had a good chance (blazed just over) and Chelsea sub missed a free header at the end. Plus Sancho'a foot was stood on and should have been a penalty. These are just facts. Also look at the game's stats they tell you a story you seem to be missing.

It’s a bit of an unrelated question but since you are clearly very knowledgeable, what are you thoughts on Ipswich town this season, and do you think we can stay up!
@ZekkoFootballАй бұрын
Thank you for your kind words😊 I really like Ipswich, I like McKenna and what he’s been able to do with the group.. however, I won’t lie to you, it’s been tough for them this season, I think the jump in quality is finding them out on occasion. That being said, I like the team going forwards, creating some good attacks but not getting the luck when it comes to scoring, I think that will come. In my honest opinion, it will be a struggle, a tough battle but we are only 8 games in and I think with a couple changes here and there they have a good shot of staying up, they’re competitive and that’s the main thing. I’ll be keeping my eye on them and I hope they do stay up🤞 Thanks for watching mate!

Good job on the video bro. 2 things from me: 1. funny how that gapping hole in the midfield that people blamed on Enzo being slow was still there in this game. It’s a downside to pushing the full back high and both pivots also pushing high. When the counter press fails, it’s a madness. That’s how Liverpool got their joy. Constantly looking to go direct into the space vacated by Gusto. 2. Chelsea fans might not like hearing this but considering how man to man Chelsea’s defensive shape was, Cole Palmer’s lack of defensive application is what arguably cost Chelsea the game. His tracking of Curtis Jones was poor, especially when you see players like Sancho and Neto tracking their man all across the pitch into the CB position.
@ZekkoFootballАй бұрын
Thanks mate! I completely agree with your observations, especially around the Palmer defensive aspect, the defensive identity of Chelsea was interesting being so man to man and that then needs to be fulfilled by everyone, if it's not, it quickly falls apart. Thanks for watching mate!
@Carjack_FelonАй бұрын
You analysed the Chelsea goal well with VVD's role, but immediately before Caicedo got the ball Nunez went on a solo pressing run on the keeper and the attacking midfield trio of Liverpool didnt follow and just stayed static and high up the pitch. This is why it was easy to get the ball to Caicedo in loads of space. That was down to mistimed pressing from Nunez and a moment of indecisiveness from the LFC AMs. Another point is that it happened early after the restart, and of the 5 goals LFC have conceded this season more than a couple have come very early in the first or second halves. LFC are lacking focus and not realising the tactics expected by Slot in the first minute or two after kick offs.
@ZekkoFootballАй бұрын
Those are really good shouts, thanks for pointing them out, I really like it when we can have discussions around these kind of topics 👍. Overall I thought Liverpool did a really good job and things are looking really positive. Thanks for watching and for the added insight👍

Even though slot presses zonally I was still surprised how less intense slot played compared to other games. Seemed like he wanted to play direct on transitions ?
@danielcrs558Ай бұрын
Most probably, Chelsea have improved a lot under Maresca, but still they struggle to break teams that do not press them high and more importantly they are not very organized in defense yet, so i think Slott tried to capitalise on this.
@ZekkoFootballАй бұрын
Exactly, the directness of play towards exploiting the transitions was a key part of the game plan I think. Thanks for watching!

I think Chelsea are going to need to find a way to get Palmer rotating positions with the other attacking players more. Everyone now knows he's probably the best player in the league. They know that it's worth sacrificing 1 or even 2 players of their own to just keep him off the ball. They need to be able to get Palmer swapping roles with Madueke or Jackson when he's marked out of the game. When you burst into being a star player like that, it's putting a target on you. I'm pretty sure he's Chelsea's most fouled-upon player this season, it's usually worth a yellow card to stop him creating. But honestly for me, the biggest thing I took away as a Chelsea fan (Not to take anything away from liverpool, they deserved it) is that Cucurella is invaluable, I don't think he'd have made some of the mistakes that Gusto and Veiga made in that match. If Palmer is Chelsea's best player right now, Cucurella *has* to be in the conversation for the silver medal. You don't really notice how good he is until he's not there. (Also quite annoyed that he was suspended for this game because of the card-fest at Bournemouth. It was definitely memed-on at the time, but now we're seeing players miss important games because of the undeserved yellows they got from Taylor.)
@ZekkoFootballАй бұрын
Spot on, I completely agree about Palmer, sometimes you need to change things to get your star players in the game. As for Cucurella, he has made himself invaluable in this setup, whether it be inverting or from just a defensive perspective. I’m sure Chelsea will bounce back from this and there are plenty of positives to take from the performance. Thanks for watching mate!❤️

It was only a penalty because the referee said it was a penalty. VAR shouldn't have intervened as it wasnt clearly nor obviously an error from the ref (who was admittedly shocking through out the game). But if Liverpool don't account for at least one outrageous disallowed VAR goal/penalty per game then they've only themselves to blame at this point.
