I flew from Scandinavia to London just to have lunch and go on a ride in the new LEVC and it was much better than expected. Inter com to talk to the driver, glass roof so you can see high buildings, no noice no pollution. What is it not to like. After lunch and the cab ride I flew home again. London just over the day is a great trip. Just a few days later COVID-19 put an end to my over the day lunch trips to other countries. 😢

Hackney is a place in London where horses used to graze as it was countryside at the time. The horses used were not top quality and hence also the term Hackneyed came from it. The term is used in Europe and they also reference it back to the part of London called Hackney.

There is no single test...u get tested every 56,28,21,14 days...u get asked 4 routes in each exam..the better u answer,the more often u get tested and the questions become more complex...in 3 years i had 13 appearances (tests)...thx for this video.top stuff

Brilliant video I’ve got s TX4 on a 07 plate it’s off the road now I’m using it as my private car love it this will be a soon classic as the bulky ugly tx5 has taken over but let me explain this the icon of the TX4 will be missed as it’s been taken away

When my dad was a cabbie (Manchester) he drove the FX4, TXII and the TX4 over the years. I'd have to say the TX4 is probably my favourite too, I'll have to ask him what his was

The TX4 is not an Austin. Is has nothing to do with Austin. The manufacturer is LTI of LTC. For example: the engine is an Italian VM Motori. Stephen Fry owned an FX4, not a TX4.

The Metro Camel was not experimental, but a regular London Taxi. Just not nearly as sucessful and popular than its rival the FX4 but therefore a bit more comfortable for taller drivers. The narrator my mixed the Metro Cammell up with the first intended replacement of the FX4 in 1969 witch was based on the Range Rover and would have looked a bit like the later Metro Cammell, but they are two entirre different cars from to different companys.

Maybe because black cabs are a icon to London. And have lots of history. As they were first made in Hackney, East London. Known as the Hackney cabs.
