Why Lorcana's First Illumineer's Quest Was Not What I Was Hoping For

Ya i agree with you. Im not a fan of racing to win. Something i might try is adding some reckless cards to Ursula’s deck and changing some of the rules to make it more enjoyable and not a race

VS Ursula's mass banish = I just thought of something : since Ursula is so tough, a strategy is to include a lot of blue in the decks that will compete against her, every deck if possible so everyone ramps un quickly. The Triton that makes a location go into inkwell when banished. Gramma Talas that say put into inkwell when banished!

I actually like it. Especially since it has solo play. I just wish the quality of the board wasn't paper. They could have used card board.

My girl and I have not been able to get remotely close on Hard. Then we went down to normal but three players and got even more creamed than two player on hard.

Didn't the Lorcana Cast players get crushed while playing Ursulas's Deep trouble too? The creators and marketing team of the game lost on screen! You are not alone!

I might try playing easy with a house rule of only one card being inkable per turn with the rest going into discard. Maybe even have Ursula have to spend ink like usual as well. Baby's First Lorcana mode. I agree with pretty much all of your suggestions and observations. True solo has crushed me every single time I've tried. Obviously the generic starter decks shouldn't be able to dominate the hardest difficulty, but struggling to gain ground even on easy doesn't even trigger that "If I buy more cards, I'll do better" instinct.

Agree. My buddy I play Lorcana with on a regular basis tried playing 2 players against Ursula last night and I achieved 17, he got to 11, before she cruised well past 40. We were both playing with custom made decks that focused on heavy lore production and couldn't get the job done. Every time we would start to gain some traction, she would wipe out everyone with one action card. I made a comment that if I had just been getting into Lorcana and this was my first experience, (using the two starter decks included), I would be completely turned off.

Yes I agree with everything you said. This is my first anything Lorcana and it is hard and that is on the easy, I can't even imagine the other ones. I just wasn't enjoying it, it really is pricey and I was dissapointed what was in there, I don't understand why they couldn't have put in a cardboard sheet instead of paper for the price. On one of the game I just thought well there is no point in doing anything other than questing just so you can get up to 20, it's all the luck of the draw too. Thanks for saying about the Reckless keyword, I thought I was going crazy 😆 I was like where are these reckless cards 🤔

I’ve been wanting to pick this up as I love solo playing and love Lorcana but yikes this seems a little too weighted and not though out

Totally agree. Not thought out is exactly what it is. The parts are there for some house rules to make it enjoyable though.

You got a set 5 card in the golden pack! Preview from the future! Also : i got this for 8%$ Canadian (57% US) + taxes. Amazing value. For 150$ US at scalper price? NOPE skip it. Price point is everything ! The promo cards of Mulan, Yen Sid, Piglett are cool additions. NOT the regular cards!
