I love how you said that children at LUMS are so protected in their own environment and they lack acknowledgement of the real actual world around them that when they come out of that place, they all end up criticising. You literally put my thoughts into words.

There is something called ground reality. When you are fortunate enough to have protected environment you then have very less knowledge about ground realities you just start to live in your own world and only vibe with the people that are living the same life as you. Aur jo loog zyada ground realities main reh rahay hotay hain woh in logon ko “burgers” ya “spoiled brats” aka bigri awaam bolnay lagg jatay hain.

I really appreciate you for saying that Karachiites have this coping mechanism to get used to all of this or else 'they would go mad' . Despite the horrible incidents you faced in Karachi, you put it out in such a kind way. I face these issues a lot and despite being a Karachiite I never felt comfortable so I can completely imagine how tough it must've been for you. I'm so fed up with my hometown that Im really looking forward to move to Islamabad somehow. Karachi has its own perks but unfortunately every shit is being dumped here in terms of people and garbage both for years that its getting extremely difficult for families to continue their lives peacefully.

I loved how he talked about his passion in the last minutes, though throughout the conversation he was soo confused to talk about his majors in the university. I don't know if he actually wanted to pursue it or just ended up in LUMS due to social pressure but I genuinely pray that his degree could help him pursue his passion in the future inshALLAh.

bruhhh about that bus experience in karachi. ITS WILDDD! 3 years ago, my first ever solo public bus ride, and as my stop arrived I asked the conductor to stop the bus but the bus didn't even slowed down and the conductor forced me to jump off the bus due to the anxiety and the pressure I jumped off of the running bus, rolled on the road, lost my tooth with various injuries.

A good university gives opportunities. It depends on the student to avail them. However the thing is even if you have a little bit desire for growth you will get the best opportunities if your uni is developed and in the process you will grow. Contrary to that, if uni is not developed first off opportunities are hard to come by, secondly there is resistance because those opportunities are not normalized enough. That's the case in most under developed universities.

Being a Karachiite, I know where you are coming from - But sad part is that the residents cannot do much about it - at best we can do is to avoid and normalize unfortunately. If we keep on thinking over it, it will waste a lot of emotional energy and you end up doing nothing and only rant.

23:50 pressure because “best of Pakistan is here” or “most privileged of Pakistan is here” ? Don’t really think that the best* of Pakistan is in LUMS when the playing field isn’t even for the entire country .. the opportunity the elite get from schooling to university is no where the same the middle or below avg. people get .. so it’s not the best but just the most privileged of Pakistan

One thing I've noticed kids from top universities have that they are damn passionate about their majors... either its business, liberal arts, engineering, medicine, design etc. In normal unis, only few people are passionate to study their major from heart not just for grades and piece of paper "degree". I'm a business student with double majors in finance and marketing and I'm in love with my curriculum but I've seen sadly enough majority of classmates just studying business because of their parents, they don't get enough marks for med or engineering blah blah.. As a Sapiosexual (a person who loves smart/passionate people), I found really hard to make friends in class since they are not even 1% motivated to do their studies. Being sapiosexual doesn't mean you are nerd, I'm not! But you love the company and sitting with smart people talking about academics, career interests etc.

The thing about LUMS is that country's greatest minds are put in a quality environment to have peak exposure with qualitative faculty so obviously the thing which makes it among top ranked University not just in Pakistan but in Asia. Otherwise the content of education is same in other universities but LUMS has everything that a university needs to have. But I still think Pakistan universities especially their syllabus and system management need to improve a lot and at a bigger scale, in the end it is universities and their products which makes a country.❤️

The problem in most of the academic practices in Pakistan is the low quality and intense amount of content being taught, and the way they deliver it in classroom. Not igniting the curiosity and interest of the learners. Generally the environments are threatening for students where students are afraid of achieving grades. More emphasis should on collaboration among students and letting them achieve success together, instead of individual grades!
@nycto16
@nycto16 Жыл бұрын
I think we can't blame academic practices, it depends on person to person. I'm studying from a normal uni still I enjoy every moment of lectures and I love my curriculum and I've seen people from top unis using phones in their lectures or not even taking lectures properly. Basically, Pakistani young minds are too much in to games, movies, parties etc they are not motivated and passionate about education.
@itsQuark
@itsQuark Жыл бұрын
@@nycto16 I disagree with your comments about the youth that they wasting their time in list you mentioned. I was sharing my first hand experience of studying in Pakistani Colleges & Universities. The emphasis in our academics is on the curriculum which is a combination of contradictions. Assessments process is also without any thought process. In fact the assessment process is the biggest contributor in the poor quality of public universities in particular. Private institutions are more open in adopting the innovations and pedagogical corrections. There are many other factors too which are making an impact. The younger generations are much more aware of these things and they can now clearly see the difference between the quality of teaching in their classrooms and the kind of material available on the internet where you have now a chance to learn from the faculty members of top universities online. Current quantum leaps in technology are probably going to help our students as well. The learning now accessible beyond geographical boundaries. Parents too are now well informed about the academic options available!
@nycto16
@nycto16 Жыл бұрын
@@itsQuark I disagree about that universities thing, okay yeah I can't say about public unis, but private universities are actually good not only top like LUMS, NUST but even normal private universities are good enough. The point is Pakistani kids are into gaming, movies etc they have zero interest in learning, career goals etc. They doesn't care about learning they just want short cut in everything, they don't have any goals no motivation they only want movie nights, hang out with friends there's nothing called "productivity" in their dictionary and we can't blame universities for that!
