I just assumed it's because the Tusken's and Mandalorians are very much one and the same. They both come from various historic clans, they have their own religion of sorts, they're both warriors and they both have honor codes. One has very durable armor and the other is built for withstanding the harsh heat of Tatooine but with a focus on melee combat and some sharpshooter skills. Whilst Mandalorians have a focus on well rounded defense, mixed martial arts and melee combat along with skilled shooters.

The Jawa and the tusken are actually the same species… at least they were back before there planet was destroyed and they (the original species) were forced to live underground…. The one species we know now came to the surface while the other species had been against going above ground so spending even more thousands of years underground they were changed as both sides suffered with devolving as a species… the mandalorians aren’t similar to them… they were a true warrior race… not a devolved species split into 2 different species

The ancestors of Tuskens were enslaved by the Rakatan Infinite Empire, they eventually rebelled which lead to the Rakata orbitally bombarding Tattooine and turning it into a desert wasteland. The Chieftain of the tribe that Boba was taken by outright says that there are many Tusken tribes, and the majority of them survive by killing. His tribe, survives by hiding, to which Boba contests that they shouldn't have to, because they are warriors. Boba's influence on them is something the Chieftain has an open mind to, and doesn't look like an affront to his beliefs. Perhaps this Chieftain is more philosophical, more intelligent, more caring than other Tuskens. Why, I wonder? Maybe because of the stories of Anakin? Maybe because of a run in with Obi Wan? Maybe we'll be shown this in more of Boba's dreams.

The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett are “Westerns in Space”. The John Jackson Miller novel Kenobi (bearing a Lucasfilm, Ltd. 2013 copyright, so canon or legends…let the reader judge for themselves) explores Tusken culture deeper than most SW content I’ve experienced. The Tuskens knew who the Jedi were and many clans held the Jedi with a fair amount of respect. There was a paradigm shift between the human settlers (aka moisture farmers) and the Tusken that’s noted but not explored in the novel. The shift seems to favor the humans. It’s only stated that the shift was related to something involving the Lars family after Clegg’s wife Shimi was kidnapped by a particular tribe, a tribe that was wiped out by an unknown assailant. The Tusken tribe that is featured in the novel spends most of their efforts raiding the settlers and their farms in a particular area and is ruled by a female chieftain, a virtually unheard of in Tusken culture. She is a progressive thinker and a pragmatic actor for a Tusken; she actually has a limited Basic vocabulary that she speaks in her trying to meet humans partway in the interest of providing for her tribe’s survival. ObiWan picks up on her progressive & pragmatic sensibilities. In demonstrating that he is a powerful warrior and in making the effort to communicate and understand her and her tribe, he earns her respect and a fair amount of trust. She even has her people steal a moisture vaporator because their U&C water supplies have dried up. Survival of her tribe is job one for her, so this “blasphemous” act of employing a vaporator is now acceptable because what good is observing the old ways if no one is around to observe them. As noted, the Tuskens who respect true warriors, regardless of their origin and demonstrate adaptability in the light of huge changes are the ones that will survive.

What also might play a role is the fact that Mandalorians are skilled warriors, and the Tuskens aren't much of a threat comparatively. The moister farmers were vulnerable and therefore feared the Tuskens. But for most Mandalorians they could easily taken on a bunch of tusken raiders. So when a Mandalorian and Tusken meet, if a party is scared of the other, it's usually going to be the Tuskens. The Mandalorian's bravery allows them not to react, and the Tusken in turn would probably respect that (if they aren't immediately hostile).

Now, being a Tusken is more about the culture than the race. Similar to you do not have to be from Mandalore to be a Mandalorian. At the end of BOBF ep.2, you can now say that Boba Fett is a Tusken. Pretty much. From what I can gather, there's still a lot of Ghorfa (original non-human Tuskens) among them, with nearly as many human Tuskens, who seem to be the vast majority of people that are integrated into the tribes. As to what the Ghorfa Tusken look like, judging from KOTOR stuff and other depictions (not sure if still canon, but honestly who cares), they essentially look like humanoid hairless cats, just with a flatter face and lacking the cat ears. Makes sense then that they hate the Jawas so much, since they're supposed to look rat-like under their hoods.

It is more that the tusken raiders were depicted as just savages who constantly attack "innocent" people (which in a movie setting, was useful to helping the main character move along in the story). We are not getting to see them a little bit more as actually a race that isn't actually just violent but has its own way of life. They see those "innocents" as invaders to their lands. The reason I think we see these bounty hunters (that happen to be mandalorian because of the show itself) as being able to communicate with them is that the bounty hunters can use them to their own advantage and so it actually helps if they get a more interesting backstory then violent savages (I think it also makes it that much better when we consider anakin killing a whole tribe of them in the movies, we can now see them more than just violent savages that can't be reasoned with)

I'd have to go back and check but I swear there was a line in the second episode of the Book of Boba Fett that implied Tatooine was previously a flourishing planet with vast oceans. Quiet possibly like Earth. And that the Tusken Raiders lived through and needed to adapt as the seas dried up. If so, this would explain why they don't have any adaptations for living on a desert planet.

Thus why I prefer SW series opposed to Star War's films. The films 2 hour format doesn't serve the universe, characters, nor story like an episodic series can. The films depict a miniscule view but Star War's has a vast universe amazing universe spanning thousands of yrs. Star Wars is a mythological goldmine. The Clone Wars, SW Rebels, The Mandalorian, & BOBF are a testament to it.

Idk the lore reason but it’s really to make mando seem more badass, like he’s “been around the block” so much he knows how to communicate with tuskens and gain their trust. I know what we got in terms of who and what the tuskins were or how they were portrayed, but to assume that all are like that as we have seen in Mando and Boba series, makes a lot of sense, they are an isolated tribe that when strangers are around they act out against those potential enemies, it is expected but what they have given us is a nice change and direction to show us another side of a species that are not the way they are portrayed. I wonder how the Tuskins will play into w/ and along side Bobafett in terms of having an army or a type of defense force in a way. In many ways the Mandalorians are very much the same as the Tuskins, while mandos have in the past and current will take in other species and it would be an interesting dynamic in uniting these Tuskins or taking them off world, to Mandalorian locations and work as and as one.

I always figured it was an “earn respect, get respect” kind of situation. Boba was a prisoner until he saved the child Tusken from the Jason and the argonauts monster, let the kid take credit for the kill which earned him water from the chief. Over time Boba showed the Tuskens he means them no harm and has skills that he can contribute to the tribe. The Tuskens have _every_ reason to distrust offworlders because they take for themselves and contribute nothing. It has gone through Tusken legend that the offworlders and their machines were what caused the oceans to dry up, so the Tuskens are naturally hostile to any offworlders as a rule because offworlders are usually hostile towards Tuskens (if i had a barrel full of snakes, but only one is poisonous, I’m not putting my hand in that barrel). All of the occasions that a Tusken encounters an offworlder that is not hostile and tries to help towards a common goal, the tuskens have been wary but not hostile, if that offworlder also seeks no reward for their help then that adds extra brownie points. The Mandalorian code of honour goes a long way to acting in a way that would endear you to a Tusken, the nomadic warrior vibe is probably why the only people who have ever been on speaking terms with the Tuskens are Mandalorians, but that status isn’t exclusive (there was a Tusken Jedi before the Clone Wars). It’s always about mutual respect, common goals and selflessness with the Tuskens. Din Djarin managed to get the humans and Tuskens to work together because _both_ groups were terrorised by a Greater Krait Dragon, neither group could handle it alone, and the humans had no need for Krait Pearls or Krait meat. They worked together because in return for the Krait carcass, the Tuskens would let the humans continue moisture farming. Boba saved a Tusken child, stole speeder bikes, taught the Tuskens to ride and stopped a train full of water for the Tuskens and all he asked for in return was to not die. For this, the Tuskens accepted him into the tribe.

I really like the idea of "friendly tusken" on the side of Boba fett... They could provide a great improvement of Bobas Organisation and also really give him some sort of man power... But I think his main Smuggler Kollektiv should consist of something else... Like gamerroneans (Don't know how they're spelled... I think that in both cultures, among other things that if you show weakness or fear, that they respond hostile to it, as they think these traits are contagious. For example, there are accounts of native Americans who would inflict horrible torture on a warrior prisoner from an enemy tribe to test how well he could maintain his composure. If he passed, they would trust his words, and potentially even integrate him to their community. As horrific as it may sound to our modern sensibilities, these trials were essential in their minds to establish confidence of trustworthiness. This is something i can definitely see Mandolorian and Tuskan people being able to mutually understand. Mandolorians, though much more technically advanced than the Tuskans still do not have much of a safety net for the people who slide through the cracks of good Mando values! :)

As horrific as it sounds for someone - punishment in Europe for e.g. such trivial "crime" like stealing load of bread because of starving was much worse. @@budahbaba7856 Do not need to "realize", was in it a bit "professionally", but I changed the field. But you do not need to look at Dakota tribes custom of torturing the prisoners of war to see the examples. Look for, e.g. RSA - government and victims just exchanged "color" but atrocities stay the same... :( Year ago our student told as how she is worried about her brother who stay back in her homeland - how and if he will be alive next week - no white "civilizators" (I know, I made the word) there. My point was that talking about barbarian customs people usually talk exactly about Dakota's torture stake or scalping (actually invented by whites) and it's starting to be a bit boring (annoying...) And no, I'm not Dakota or Native (although, as a little girl I wanted to be :D) And geez, I'm so proud of myself - when one time, as a girl, on Tricon I met guys in Tuskens' costumes (I saw 3 originals but for some reason didn't know much about this race) - I checked who they are and really liked them (not these two boys, the race). Well probably my anthropological instinct worked - they are showed so bad from the same reason early westerns showed First Nations badly (well, I'm also coming back to NA tribes, there is really something in it...🤔) At least now, after 2nd episode people do not look at me like... well I was mentally ill Tusken? 🤣

The Mandolarians creed have been wandering the galaxy a long time. They may have spent time on Tatooine. It may have been a base of operation were Djarin learned to speak Tusken. He has had previous contact with them and traded with them. Djarin seemed to know Tatooine well. The Way may stipulated that they treat all creatures with dignity and peace. Djarin only killed when forced to and when adversary relation was established. Boba Fett seemed to be of the same mindset.

This actually reminds me of an even older example of what the Tuskan Raiders were really about. That being way back in the original Knights of the Old Republic game. In it, you travel to Tatooine in search of the Star Forge, and along the way, there are a few missions you can do there that involve a Tuskan clan near Mos EIsley. One involving Mission and another involving the Czerka Corp. Funny enough, to deal with them in a good/lightsided way, and to also learn of this clans culture, you need to bring a translator. The only one available however... is the heavily darkside leaning Assassin Droid, aka, HK-47. So yes, you need an evil character to help you do something good. lol Though, doing it the good/lightside way, you learn that the Tuskans aren't necessarily evil, they just really don't like technology.
