In my opinion, Maphilindo would have been formed if the three countries would never argue about territories and never getting the Great Britain involved. With Philippine's close ties to the USA, a heĺl of a powerhouse of a country, Malaysia's cultural influence, and Indonesia's strong military and economy in the Southeast Asia, Maphilindo would be a literal powerhouse, so much that it might even rival China's occupation of the West Philippine Sea (which happens at the present time), and the Filipino, Indonesian, and Malaysian people would prosper. However, due to the Philippine's strong interest on Sabah, and the Malaysia and Indonesia's mix-up with the British monarchy, it was all a far-fetched dream. But, if it were to happen now (hopefully), then it would seem that true peace and unity might be discovered, and can be set as an example to other countries, to make amends, despite of their tensions, differences, and disagreements. I am a Filipino, but I never knew there was a plot to unite these three countries. If that would had happened, then at least the Filipino, Indonesian, and the Malaysian people do not need to suffer, for they can rely on each other.

Every Major Power that time was against the formation of Maphilindo, yes, the Soviets as well as the Allies. They don't want a 3rd power to run the world. The Philippines that time was 2nd (1st was Japan) in terms of military strength in Asia. On Sabah issue, the American sided with British (Malaya) instead of its Mutual Defense partner, the Philippines. Filipinos hoped for Americans to stay Neutral on that one but Americans want a different plan, again thy don't want another Major Power at play to run the world. They were backstabbed by the Europeans and Americans in the process. The Filipinos retaliated by pulling out their contingent troops in Vietnam War of the Americans and strike the Very FIRST protest rally in US Embassy in Manila. The rest is History...

@@norbe6534 As if the whole world believes that there are only two sides of major power in the world. As you said, they do not want a 3rd power to run the world. I also realized that these three different countries have different beliefs as well. Indonesia and Malaysia are more on Islamic beliefs, but the Philippines have a mix of Christian and Islamic beliefs, which hints out a possible religion dispute. Also, as a final nail to the coffin, the government system is a bit different for the 3 countries. Philippines is more like of a unitary presidential republic, as well as Indonesia, but Malaysia is a federal parliamentary and a constitutional elective monarchy. Therefore, it can cause some arguments if it were to happen, but they can always think of the advantages and the possibilities.

@@EstrellaSoria-xw4qv As for the difference in those 3 countries, observe this: How many mountains in Indonesia were flattened in order for Australia, I mean Indonesia to mine the precious metals from that mountain? Papuans tribes are almost gonna be extinct if that continues. The other one is, how many trees in entire Borneo Island were cut down to plant oil plant? Do the Borneo people are paid well for the oil harvested there? Now for PH it's different, there would be bloodshed if mountains were touched, there would be bloodshed if trees were cut down etc. So, what did they do to generate income? They export people as workers in the entire world while preserving natural resources in their own land. The other 2 exports the natural resources. Which one is better? Export the replenishable or Export the Non-replenishable products?
@EstrellaSoria-xw4qv
@EstrellaSoria-xw4qv Ай бұрын
Hmm, it would seem both are the worst options, given the circumstances, but in my defense and opinion, it would be exporting the replenishable, since if you are talking about the definition of replenishable, "Able to be renewed or replenished." In this case, replenishable products are the ones that can be renewed once used. But the only problem would be limited market reach and vulnerability to market fluctations. If these were affected by the ores mined and trees cut off by the two countries, it might set drastic effects on the economy. *NOTE: This is just only my opinion as a senior high school student in the Philippines.*
@norbe6534

@@EstrellaSoria-xw4qv Yes, replenishable like workforce. You can export not only goods or things or products, you also export labor as well. You can also import foreign people in the country not just the typical "tourists" but investors to your product aka' labor' I myself was hired before by foreign nationals that came to PH to help them make new prototypes of generators that would someday be the alternative once the "unreplenishable" products in their country was depleted aka oil and gas, yes that foreign people was from middle east, and it was already decades ago since we made prototypes. Maphilindo succeeded... Nobody wants to be called a Malay or have slightest affiliation with that taboo word anymore from any those 3 countries. People nowadays prefer to be called Austronesian, because once AGAIN, *ehem*, Taiwan-China *ehem* motives... British succeeded demonizing the "Malay" word for all those 3 countries "Malay" is a Filipino word that means "Counciousness" "Malaya" is a Filipino word that means "Free/Freedom" -Being influenced by colonial powers be it your conciousness and or actions is not being free its quite the opposite... Fun Fact: "Malaysia" was considered by Philippine senate to replace the name "Philippines" in 1962 Malaysia meaning in Philippines is "Land of the Free" (Unshackled from Colonial Power) Some says the British people ordered Tunku Agdul Rahman to sabotage the Philippine plan on renaiming their country and grab the name "Malaysia" from Philippines, and it happened in 1963... "Malay" is not "Melayu" today back in those days... There was never a word "Malay" in Malay language...

@@wakakabravo7998 Actually there was a catch thats why Filipina didn't pushed the name as well. There is a Filipino word, Malas, which means Bad Luck / Unlucky that rhymes with Malays(Anglisized word) if pronounced in English. Filipinos are very supersticious people, they still believe in spirits etc (From their Animist/Anitist history) If the renaming succeded though, It would be renamed as Malayo in their native language as seen in their current form Filipino (Anglicized) and Pilipino (Local)

The failure of Maphilindo, which was a proposed political union of Malaya, Indonesia, and the Philippines, can be attributed to several factors. 1. Geographical Location: One of the reasons for the failure was the geographical location of the member countries. Each country was located in different continents, making it difficult for the members to sit together and discuss issues. The distance between the countries hindered effective communication and cooperation. 2. Political Differences: The member countries had different political systems, ideologies, and priorities. This led to conflicts and disagreements on various issues, making it challenging to reach consensus and maintain unity within Maphilindo. 3. National Interests: Each country prioritized its own national interests over the collective interests of Maphilindo. This resulted in a lack of commitment and cooperation among the member countries, undermining the effectiveness of the organization. 4. Territorial Disputes: The presence of territorial disputes among the member countries, such as the Philippines' claim over Sabah, further complicated the functioning of Maphilindo. These disputes created tensions and hindered cooperation and trust among the member countries. 5. Lack of Support: The failure of Maphilindo can also be attributed to the lack of strong support and commitment from the member countries. The organization did not receive sufficient resources, attention, and political will to overcome the challenges it faced. It is important to note that Maphilindo was eventually dissolved due to the Indonesia-Malaysia Confrontation and other factors, leading to the formation of other regional organizations such as ASEAN.

The real Malaysia is Philippines, after a colonization of US in the Philippines, Philippines re named to Malaysia, but since European Countries didn't know Malaysia and Philippines are already recognized by the European Countries they renamed in again to the Philippines. Malaysia is Filipino Word that mean "Free Asians" because Philippines are already Indipendent before. Also Malaya is a Filipino word too it means "Free" so some people said why Modern Malaysia Exist if Philippines is the original Malaysia, it's because they choosed to excommunicated and choosing to be Indipendent country too that belongs to the Philippines since Malaysia is having a culture and influence by British while Philippines are having a culture of Spanish and Americans, so it's completely different but both countries are brother in terms of bloods also Indonesia.

I think it's a bit inaccurate, if viewed from an Indonesian perspective, the territories of Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines are now one unit that has always existed (although not united) but one group called "Nusantara", and President Soekarno from the start wanted this This happened (unification) because in ancient Indonesian books there is already a "palapa oath" one of which reads "we will not rest before uniting the archipelago" in the Pararaton Book. But at that time Malaysia changed its mind from the deliberations that had been carried out on the Manila Agreement because it was tempted by the lure and promise of the British colonialists for Malaysian independence which prevented them from joining Indonesia or the Philippines and accepted the offer from the British who colonized them, so the president Sukarno was very angry with this decision, in fact President Soekarno did not hate the Malaysian people, but hated the colonists who always colonized countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, in this case England, so he declared war with Malaysia, which means a country made by foreign invaders, not the Malaysian people who are allied brothers
