What an insult to the intelligence of our black friends and family. Unbelievable
@00st307-m4 ай бұрын
Amazing that people still equate being sexy and hot with lacking intelligence. Maybe it seems too unfair for most people to fathom - that a woman can be hot AND intelligent - and still want to look and feel hot in public. Also interesting how certain dance forms are oversexualized and others aren’t. In the 1800s ballerinas were considered on par w sex workers - and now it’s “classy”. Culture can change.

@@SLYKM that’s your sentiments tho. The same way you have the ability to feel that way - so do those of us that weren’t happy with the optics if it plain and simple. Many of us have different reasons why too. We aren’t a monolith - black folks can think and form opinions outside of presumptive group think. And that applies for whatever our reasons are why we didn’t like it and those that did who are supporting their reasons why. I don’t and never will subscribe to the belief that bc I, a black woman or person just so happens to disagree with what another black woman or person says about this, that somehow I’m targeting my people, or that somehow I’m invalidated in my sentiment bc I’m not pretending her and her campaign are without flaw in my opinion. Nah, not gonna do that. You even went so far as to say that you feel those who had the audacity to have that opinion should “examine” why …. Why? We’ve already told you why. Is it bc it’s not what YOU believe? OR bc your hate for the Orange Man is so great? Let me ask you this, did you not find issue with her changed speech patterns bc in my opinion, in her PR teams mind, they thought that she should change how she spoke bc she was in Atlanta? Smh low key insulting. As an Atlanta native, I don’t speak like that nor do most ATLIENS. But we heard it and picked up on the obvious play, and again, we cringed. I think the Metapoint for most of us is, it just felt disingenuous which she shouldn’t be leading with. With all due respect sis…. I think many Americans and esp those in our community that don’t trust her it’s bc of antics like this (we talking about optically - not even talking about their argument about her resume or politics). She needs a PR team mate to put her up on THAT type of game… don’t do what all the other politicians do to our community if you want to win this by a landslide by winning their TRUST AND RESPECT - show us who you are and bring the policies. But nah - didn’t care enough it seems to do that. And please - next time they should truly consider other women - black women that can motivate and encourage a generation not just entertain at rallies if she must have anyone at all. Most people in this current time we live in, want REAL, many are TIRED of celebrities all around to begin with. It really feels like they playing in our faces when they lead with celebrity now bc we not worried bout them people on the larger scale of things. I mean u could go on and on about how to truly win the respect and attention of black peopke if that’s that’s what they really wanted but doesn’t seem like they give a damn across the board frankly. She could have had someone like Beyonce to perform. I think Megan is very talented and this is not against her, but aren't black people more that hot sauce in our bags, mean greens, and tail. I cannot put into words the amount of heartbreak and disappointment that I have reading some of the comments in this post. Kim Foster has spent over decade building For Harriet to be a space for black women to explore every aspect of black women’s experiences, free of judgement. Other black feminists like Joan Morgan, Brittany Cooper Melissa Harris-Perry, and adrienne marie brown among others have been doing the hard work of dismantling the systems of oppression that keep black women from being understood as full human beings capable of both taking to the streets or the voting booth for our liberation while twerking and dropping it like it’s hot. And, yet, it seems the work continues. I just saw Megan live in concert and she is amazing! She embodies so much of what I love seeing in a great female MC, just as I love the work of Rhapsody, Missy Elliott, Cardi B, Queen Latifah…I could go on. And yet I know the political and policy terrain well enough to know that we ultimately need free universal healthcare, free public colleges and universities, we need to stop funding endless damaging wars, we need to draw down funding of our bloated and punitive police and prisons to fund social programs that actually keep communities safe such as after school programs, social housing, free public transit and so much more. We need to cease funding the state of Israel until it stops its ongoing occupation and genocide of the Palestinians and build towards a one state where Palestinians are allowed to return home, be given full citizenship, rights, and freedoms. We need to decriminalize drugs and provide safe locations for people to dose in a monitored environment. I happen to notice that many of the people commenting here have all the smoke for Meg, but haven’t articulated nearly what I just described. Millions of people understand this, and I am not the exception. If millions of other people can get it and you don’t, maybe it’s you who is the problem.

It's a place and time for Megan @ the Democrat rally isn't it. ,🙄😦🫣, they could've brought someone else to attract younger voters. Not a rapper shaking their A##. 😮

I didn’t get Brat. But I get Hotties for Harris.
@gcopeland4425 ай бұрын
Same. I’m also not fully sure how Brat aligns, but they’re clearly seeing something I’m not! It’s clearly captured some kind of zeitgeist and they’re happy for Kamala to ride it. Also Charli XCX maybe identifies with Kamala, sharing an Indian background and all 🤷🏽♀️. Could be that simple, could be more complex. I don’t follow her music or her career, so I don’t know.

The wickedness of men's heart cause them to love and obey their carnal, evil desires more than the Creator's safe instructon and guidance for their lives, yet when they find themselves in trouble/pain...They expect God/The Creator to deliver them from their bondages and distresses they get themselves into ! Daniel 5:23-24 And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or know, but the God in whose hand is your breath, and whose are all your ways, you have not honored. Jeremiah 9:23-24 (KJV) Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

Unlike many female rappers, there's more to Megan than her image. She has a Bachelor's degree, she's into philanthropy, she had enough courage to help put her ex in jail, and she's very big on fitness. Those factors can influence young women.
