as a man who has been effectively living the 4B thing myself for 30 odd years, go for it if its for you. i don't miss sex i found it over rated anyway, i am autistic so found living with people hard anyway (much of which is my inability to read emotion or experience it the way i see others experiencing it) but i have a friend group so i can be social i have my hobbies my books and my music what more does anyone need. i wish best of luck to the women and the LGBTQ people of the US in the years to come unfortunately i think you are going to need it . i might not understand what "normal" people feel or the struggles of trans people and non white people, but i don't have to understand too support your equal rights as from a purely selfish point of view i want those rights as well.

It's not an internet trend. Remember Bumble's ads earlier this year, shading women for being abstinent? This has been a trend for some time. 4B essentially means that wonen focus on themselves, their health, friendships, community rather than giving themselves endlessly to relationships and family with little reciprocation. The response is that men have been "abandoned". In what way? Men centre themselves all the time and you can see this in their responses. Why so much backlash? It's not the same for MGTOW. Why are men complaining so much?

I honestly wish 4b would take hold in America, but it won't in my lifetime. This is still the most religious country in the West. Millions of girls and women are brainwashed into it from birth. Without religion, there is no rational reason to self sacrifice so that someone else can prosper at your expense because there's no deeply imbedded religious indoctrination hijacking your thought process to tell you that it's your "duty". It will happen in America. We can see that something unprecedented has already happened here: women for the first time in recorded human history have left religion in higher numbers than men. I don’t think it will be a staunch hardline. Women, the past few years, have been going 4B before it had a name. We’ve been calling it “celibacy” and “decentering” and women have been leaving dating apps in droves, hence bumbles controversial ads. Women have been “dressing ugly” and more gender neutral, even masculine with the intention to ward off men. So I just think it will be a continuation of more of the same. I decentered men starting in 2019 after my last relationship, and didn’t even know I was decentering.

I understand why the book/movie is problematic from your perspective. It's absolutely a white woman's voice. But it's worth noting that nobody is born knowing that racism is bad. We have to learn that. If you don't grow up on the receiving end of racism, then there needs to be an awakening moment. My mom grew up in Aparteid South Africa, one of the most racist regimes in history. And she didn't understand how bad it was until she was 14. Her household maid asked her to go borrow a book from the library for her. Why couldn't she go herself? Because Blacks weren't allowed in the library. That was my mom's awakening moment. I feel like The Help was written and filmed to provide an awakening moment for a great number of people who hadn't had one yet. And in that, I think it was wonderfully successful. It will always be one of my favorites.
