I divorced a cheater in my mid 20s. She left me with a 1 1/2 yo son to raise myself. I didn’t want to get married again and poured my energies into raising my son and work. In my mid 50s I was back visiting family where I grew up and ran into a lady that lost her husband to cancer. We first met when we were 12 and hadn’t seen each other since we graduated high school. Been single for 13 years. No matter how many times I try, I get the same excuses. "I'm focusing on myself" , "I don't know what I want", "I'm not ready for a relationship right now", " let's be friends" etc. it's f*cking annoying and blatant lying to my face. Then, the same girl goes and gets another boyfriend within 1-3 months. I've gotten rejected so many times, I have trust issues and just gave up after a certain while because what's the f*cking point? If you give any excuses such as these as a woman, just know that the guy knows exactly what you mean. You say this to him, and he knows you won't treat him the same, text him the same or will just ghost him altogether. And that kills me more than anything. Believe it or not many women (including myself) are going through many of the same things you describe that men are going through. Unfortunately, dating has gone to hell in a hand basket and it feels a bit hopeless because we don’t really know what to do about it except to escape the hell away from it. All i will say is if you are a man or woman in college right now, this is the time to also focus on developing as many relationships as you can because there will never be another time in your life where you have an abundance of single people that are trying to move ahead in life that you get to meet every single semester and that you see day in and day out and you can really develop an organic relationship with over time with no stress, no pressure or no strain trying to hurry up to see if you’re a match. I have reconnected with old college friends who are now divorced, single, widowed etc. and can talk to each just like we saw each other yesterday and that is because of the natural bond we created during our college days. Anyhow men please know your not alone. There are women channel sharing this same great insight about almost the same issue but perhaps one day it will get better instead of getting worse and worse.

Back in my 20's, i was dealing with health issues. As well as trying to make a buck. By the time i got home, i was exhausted. Even if i had the time to date, i didn't have the money or the energy. Then i realized that i picked the wrong profession. Not much if any hope of advancement, and the pay didn't keep up with inflation. And children? I couldn't afford them. And i worked too many hours for child rearing, even if that was ever an option. This was back in the 80's. It's gotten a whole lot worse since. I feel for the younger guys. I realize where I live has nothing or nobody I need that has the same interests. I don't hang out with anyone. I quit drinking yet everyone goes to the bar. So I find myself alone. I grew up in poverty no matter how many jobs or hours I still am in poverty. So living in a college town means I practically don't socialize. I'm 39. I have no degrees. I don't have any kids and never been married. So every time I get into a conversation it's unnerving because I feel I am always ridiculed even though I worked 16 years of my life. I take hikes like crazy, I'm a black panther freedom revolutionary hip-hop lyricist/musician. I write and freestyle all the time. I read. I watch and listen to lectures and documentaries. I never been a bar or club person plus I don't drink. I have my own affordable home gym. I'm very self sufficient. I'm not on social media at all except KZbin.
