That’s interesting as it’s very different from the U.S. Washington D.C., the nation’s Capital, is not a separate state, but a District (D.C. means District of Columbia), the residents of the “city”, as we usually call it, has their own mayor, for whom they can vote. However, they can’t vote in Presidential elections. The residents are unhappy with that situation, and are pushing to make it a recognized state so they will have the right to vote for President. Similarly, Puerto Rico, which is a “territory” of the United States, whose citizens are considered citizens of the U.S., but they are also not allowed to vote in U.S. elections. They are also pushing to become a full-fledged state. They also have one advantage in that they don’t have to have a passport to fly to the U.S., maybe just a visa, which is a good thing because most of them have a lot of family and friends in the U.S., and it’s the same for American citizens flying there. Guam, The Marshall Islands and other islands in the South Pacific Ocean are also territories, and I don’t know if they can vote in U.S. elections, but I doubt it because they are territories like Puerto Rico. And I don’t know if they (or we) require passports in order to visit each other on those islands, but I’d love to go to find out.

Being the "most" left-wing would put her on the wrong side of such luminaries as Maduro, Diaz-Canel, Ortega and the like and by your own description of her, she just sounds like a pretty typical, standard issue leftish / center lefty type in much the same mold as AMLO. Reminder that while AMLO was President 840k people have died of covid19 so far, there was a Lancet article describing how Mexico City had the worst CHILDREN mortality rate in the world while Sheinbaum was Governor of Mexico City. For reference, by the time the death toll in the US was 1.1 million people, the "official" death toll in México was a bit over 250k and the "excess deaths" [a much more reliable indicator in places where you can't trust the government] was a bit under 750k. If you remember that the population of México is roughly one third of that of the US, AMLO's "policies" or lack thereof got more people killed than Trump and Biden COMBINED.

AMLO he cancelled the project of the airplane in Texcoco to make another one in Santa Lucia, and that first airport cost us 100% there was no legal way of getting out of it. His Santa Lucia airport is not generating a single cent because no one wants to use it, because is extremely dangerous for airplanes. He wasted savings of decades into his pharaonic projects that will only be money drains like the Maya Train & the Santa Lucia Air Port. The only project that he made that will give Mexico any money is the Interoceanic train and this project wasn't even his idea, he stole it from Porfirio Diaz, that president you mentioned that repeated 7 times. The security issue didn't affect AMLO because the people don't blame him, not even for his failed hugs better than bullets, or the cartels they blame Calderon, the president of the PAN, who ruled from 2006 to 2012. In terms of economics people blame both PRI & PAN because they implemented Neoliberal economics too savagely and without any vaseline for the economy that has been living under levels of protectionism equal to the USSR for 70 years. So it will take 20 years and a new generation of people suffering under the boot of the socialists who have no experience with the PRI or PAN and that will blame MORENA for not solving the violence. the sad part is that the narcos can't raise their income anymore from the USA so now they are selling to southern Mexicans, in Chiapas and Oaxaca states. So now the drug crisis will get a new face in mexico.

For everyone else out there who doesn't knows what happened in mexico: If you want to know why 30 million of people voted for Sheinbaum... Don't look the video analysis, just look at this guy. He is literally repeating each and every single word the opposition has said in the lattest 6 years (Which ruled the country until 2018), and you can check that if you do a quick google search with a spanish translation. Long story short, this is flawed social media rhetoric; Search those claims and you can find them all over the place, but search for concrete solid evidence these are actually a problem ("why", "how", "when", "why", "who", reliable documentation, etc.) and the whole house of cards tumbles down. What really happened is that the opposition was an extremely elitist group and didn't did their job well, to say the very, VERY least. They got kicked out from power in 2018 in part due to an internal power play, and since then they have tried to pin down all their flaws on the current administration and grabbing to all the power strongolds they had left with nails and teeth (Like the Suprema Corte) to sabotage their adversaries or draw off credit from their sucesses, instead of doing self-reflection on their actions. Think about a boss who thinks he is the center of the world and therefore is entitled to treat everyone else like shit. Even when he already got demoted or moved to another office. People here pretty much got fed up to the brim and the current administration capitalized on that. While there are LOTS of people who doesn't fully support the current administration due to various issues that go untalked on current media (cartel-controled state govts interfering or colluding with federal authorities, the justice system basically being on the cartel's payroll and releasing them when captured due to stupid things like "the capture hour in the document was off by two minutes", gentrification and rent issues, obsolete infrastructure, accepting opposition political operators not really known for their honesty nor integrity into the current power structures), they still evaluated it as a substancial step foward from the "Know your place, vermin" mindset of the opposition (Which, shall be noted, caused most of the issues Mexico is known in the first place) Although, this is not said in the video and in most english-speaking media, because they're done mostly from an american or european perspective of things. Which is nothing to censor, but more as a constructive critic. They mostly use as a template how the US and Europe is run, but they have RADICALLY DIFFERENT necesities, issues and resources than LatAm countries like Mexico. Plus, most of them also fall for the stereotypized image of Mexican/LatAm society instead of looking down how things are going beyond our northern states.

Latest case is Caro Quintero, huge narco head who got protection from the justice system to avoid being extradited to the US. Results, results, results, are the main reasons why Mexicans voted overwhelmingly for Claudia Sheinbaum as President AMLO's rightful successor. Both have had extremely successful Government tenures making the majority of Mexicans happy, and therefore wanted to continue wining with MORENA Party. Simple as that. AMLO and Sheinbaum founded the Party in 2013, and by 2018 voters chose them for the Presidency of Mexico and the Governorship of Mexico City respectively, besides more than 2/3rds of the 32 Mexican State's Governments were won by MORENA, the States Governorships, the Super Majority (w it's political allies) in Congress, and the Presidency of Mexico once again with an even higher number of votes than previously given to Mr. AMLO. Not an easy achievement in just 11 years after been founded. I wonder who is behind the financing of this highly skewed 'report'. Time to harvest what's been planted by President AMLO. To the US people: - She broke the law leaving her position to tour the country and talk about the amazing work she was doing as governor. This was an illegal campaign for the coming presidential elections. - During that time the line 12 of the elevated metro collapsed killing 26 people. Then, when investigations were completed she retained the results because they proved the collapse happened due the lack of maintenance her government did not provide even after multiple warnings through the years. - She calls herself feminist but sent the cops to gas the feminists during the 8M marches. - She call herself pro-environment but approved the building of a highway over Xochimilco, destroying an importan wetland for the ecosystem. - She is pro zionism. - And her party wants to destroy the INE, a non-gov organization in charge of the elections, so the federal gov can take charge (therefore, the current party in power, her party Morena)

The pension program was started by President Vicente Fox (2000-2006), and then it was improved by Felipe Calderon (2006-20012) and continued by Enrique Peña (2012-2018) finally Andres Manuel (2018-2024) reduce the age and make it for all Mexicans, previously it apply only for people below certain economic level

So your country went from President Fox, to the fox guarding the hen house. Politicians buying votes. Though having a pension program is good, as long as it is affordable. Felipe Calderon and EPN did not improve the pension program??? They made it worse since pensioners were receiving less in return during that time. For perspective Back then you would receive 2000 pesos back for every 10000 you made as a worker. Lopez Obrador made it so you would now receive 6000 pesos back for every 10000 earned. Again, AMLO is trying to make it so pensioners receive all 10000 pesos that they made just like how Vincente Fox intended it to be.
