Plus Sidious is a Sith Lord. They’re pretty stubborn about what they don’t wanna be next to. As Emperor of the Galactic Empire, Sidious even discarded inferior models of things seemingly simply for being used by the Republic. There’s also the idea that Sidious probably wanted to perform warfare differently and using Speeder Bikes on the battlefield beyond just scouting wasn’t good enough.

BARC's were too capable, the Empire didn't want to trust troops with that. Kinda like how TIE's don't have a hyper drive. It's just tying them down to the command structure, making them dependent and incapable of doing things on their own

I have an idea for why the Empire would retire the BARC Speeder: Aside from wanting to cut costs somewhere, the Empire wanted to maintain peace after the war, and keeping military grade speeder bikes in service on safe member worlds is not a good look for their narrative.

I would say the barc speeders are more complex to operate and maintain, given their capabilities. So maybe the Empire opted for the 74 Z since it's a simpler design and could operate independently for longer periods of time

I'd bet the Empire ditched the BARCs because they wanted to save as many credits as possible short term. Just look at how stingy they were with fighters. TIEs were quick and cheap to produce, but in the long run, the Empire wasted a bunch of money constantly replacing TIEs and pilots. Then you add uniforms and kit, training, etc., and the cost keeps piling up.

Basically this is the motor cycle of the Star Wars universe... An given the era a classic one at that. This is a Kawasaki, etc an the 74s I kinda get are like a classic hog from back in the day.. something like this woulda been a good Mobile Calvary type unit... Instead of Literally making an actual Calvary force an telling them good luck.. an even giving them lances.. at least like blaster bows or something.... But if they did guess they'd given these guys sub blasters, shotguns an had them swinging militarized equivalent of tire chains... Yeah.. somewhere in their galaxy is probably an old "biker" Speeder MC I bet.. Would think these BARCs got phased out for issues of money.. an perhaps even an attempt of limiting availability of alot of them being able to be aquired EASILY first hand or commonly... Though I imagine SOMEONE in the Galaxy is sitting on a planets worth they had to put on sale in an attempt to attack buyers for them
