up regulation of MCT1 transporters in cells which helps shuttle lactate out of the muscle to send lactate to the liver to be metabolized back to glucose via the cori cycle

Lactate is the lactic acid threshold which is a limit of your body of lactic acid levels to a point where your muscles would give up and won't let you continue further physical activity. So if you're lactate is low, you are much more efficient as an athlete.

Facts. I’ve had my lactate at 20 in training and after races. Had my heart rate between 200-218 for a large majority of sessions (30x100 free best average off 2 mins). Unlike Michael I wasn’t as efficient at removal of lactic acid. Would often have to swim 1500-2000m after a race to get it down to a good level. Would end up fading towards the end of a 5-7 day meet because of it. Luckily my best two events were in the first few days 😂

As a kenyan I don't understand what a lactate is
@sagarsunar8 ай бұрын
It's an acidic fluid that your body creates when you physically challenge your body. When you have too much lactic acid build up on your body you start cramping, muscle pulls, muscle aches and shin ache. It's generally due to lack of fitness. The fitter you are the less lactic acid your body creates. It is created to breakdown carbohydrates for energy for the body to do what you want it to do.

Us East Africans eat a lot of fish. Kenyans and Somali’s specifically. Which has high Vitamin B1 nutrients. B1 is crucial to fight fatigue and lactic acid. I guess we just eat better food, we don’t tire as much as the rest of the world.

You can live in the Philippines almost indefinitely on a tourist visa. They’re also coming out with a digital nomad visa. Everyone in the cities speaks good English and they’re a mix of Eastern and Western cultures. As an American it was very easy to integrate.

What’s a lactate?
@jameslackey7975 Жыл бұрын
lactic acid is what your muscles produce and burn in place of oxygen (anaerobic respiration) when the body can no longer efficiently metabolize oxygen to meet your metabolic needs. It's essentially just the burning feeling in your muscles when you are doing a really hard workout

Your body has a few ways of making energy. The most efficient way is called Aerobic respiration (Aerobic - using oxygen). However, think of aerobic respiration as a nitro boost. It's great but short lived. So the body switches over to anaerobic respiration (anaerobic - without oxygen). This is a less efficient measure and causes lactic acid to be produced. Lactic acid commonly causes muscle cramps, so the guy here is saying that Phelps body is so well adjusted, it doesn't produce a lot of lactic acid during anaerobic respiration, allowing him to still operate efficiently but without the characteristic muscle cramps that come with anaerobic respiration.

@@shaylanmoodley7056 no, aerobic respiration is the sustainable way of producing energy its not a nitro boost, and yes it doesn't not produce lactic acid. while anaerobic respiration is the way your body will produce energy for short periods of effort ( this case swimming)...
