He’s a bit like Thomas Muller, in a way. Havertz doesn’t really have a defined position, but is at his best when he’s effectively given a free role - which is how you’d describe Muller. The problem he’s had at Chelsea isn’t that he can’t score or anything like that, it’s that he’s been used the wrong way; effectively being forced to play a role that diminishes his best attributes.

Totally wrong mate ... to compare havertz to muller is criminal .. muller is 10 times the player havertz would ever become.. all that work off the ball for havertz means nothing when it comes to the simple chances simple passes he messus up the easy stuff . The best way to describe havertz having watched him play for 5 years is that he is simply great at finding space but can't do anything well beyond that. I would say exactly the same if he left for a non rival club , dont tell me you lot didn't slander this man for 3 years and called him one or the biggest flops in prem history.. the guy is a bundeliga player at best .. needs to much time and space on the ball to be effective like werner .. doesn't have the physicality to hold on the ball and gets bullied easily .. stop the revisionism you all said he was washed and crap .. but now he isn't? You hit the nail right on the head there. Mikel wants to play a box midfield (4-2-4 defensively) with four players in a line stopping the opposition playing out from the back just like City did last season. They had KDB and Haaland along side one another and then Grealish to the left of Haaland and Bernado to the right of KDB and then Rodri and Gundogan behind KDB and Haaland in case the ball movement defeats the first line. Mikel Arteta is adapting to what City's best formulas are to winning, he's not buying players to please us as Arsenal fans, the bigger picture is defeating Man City in a title race with tactics and a versatile squad (shout out John Stones).

Part of his problem at Chelsea is that the team simply have no creators apart from him. Most of the wingers they had are really finishers or are the sort that latches on to through balls, which meant Havertz took on a more build up role. Not making the comparison as a player, but is sort of like Messi became almost a full time creator with Mbappe and Neymar, as PSG lacked the linking man. In Leverkusen, he had the benefit of Volland often being the focal point of attack, and the more hectic nature of BuLi meant he had a lot of room to showcase his speed and skill. I think with Havertz, his strength is that he can fulfill a lot of roles and he really can slot in next or as Odegaard and Jesus. The challenge for Arteta is probably giving him a consistent role; he was shunted around at Chelsea a bit until they put him as a CF, but that team just weren't functional. And also, back up for Saka. Arsenal last year simply lacked bodies, to have one guy who is can cover so many positions alone is hard, let alone someone who was a highly sought after talent.

Arteta doesn’t value hard positions but the ability to be fluid during any game state. Xhaka made a ton of runs into the box from his position and that’s what arteta would like from havertz. Havertz will most likely roam around the pitch to create overloads or make a run into the box which will create a new dynamic. We played our best football when our forwards had complete fluidity which allows us to adapt to whatever teams are doing. Low block, high press, double teaming saka and martinelli. I genuinely think people underestimate what a good environment like arsenal will do to a player. Arteta’s talent ID is elite do we must trust him on this. He can also rotate Jesus and either directly or indirectly saka by shifting Jesus over to the wing and saka gets to have a rest for a game. He fills a lot of roles and helps with depth too.

In this video I also now immediately get why Arsenal also want Jurriën Timber! Timber is a defender who is a very sensible build-up player of a remarkable young age. Timber and Arsenal could thrive extremely well if he would play right back.

@@GamingRobioto Funny how 1 season changes the narrative completely. For 20 years we have been ran perfectly okay ("Chelsea the circus" winning 5 Premier League titles, 5 FA Cups, 3 League Cups, 3 Community Shields, 2 UCLs, 2 UELs, 1 Super Cup and 1 Club World Cup, compared to Arsenal "the football club" winning just 5 FA Cups and 2 Community Shields) I don't see why its our fault to offload a player who didn't perform for us for 3 years. If any other club did this nobody would bat an eye but because it's Chelsea the ''circus'' suddenly its a bad thing to replace Havertz with a 30-goal season SS who provides basically the same other qualities, for the same price

5:35 thats exactly what i think how havertz will be played at arsenal. He will take xhaka position but more forward role. Thats why arteta wants to buy Rice to provide more security at the back.
@aceankit2009 Жыл бұрын
Interesting point of view. However what about Florian Balagoun? He is also a very good striker who scores tons of goals in a 442. Should Arteta try Balagoun before signing Havertz? Or is it as you said Havertz is just very special

I think he will be a Xhaka replacement. Having players arrive in the box would be beneficial if we're persisting with Jesus who vacates it often. We know Arteta wants MO8 to score goals as that is an area we have seen an improvement. Having another #8 with good timing into the box could mean that we have 2 number 8's getting 15+ goals a season. Xhaka isn't the best def player, if we're being honest, and his strength was in his physical strength. Holding players off, winning free kicks, wasn't shy in receiving the ball and he played many progressive passes. This helped us not only play out from the back but to also keep the pressure on the opposition by playing smart in recycling the ball. The Xhaka replacement doesn't have to be a tough tackler but instead a smart player who can press and force mistakes, like rushed passes, which can be easier to intercept with good team positioning. An improvement would be someone with pace and can carry the ball as well... which Havertz can do. The inverted fullbacks can offer that def stability behind and options to recycle the ball. We would potentially see 4 AM behind Jesus and those AM have the ability to run into the box and score, Jesus being the foil who can drop into any of the AM roles to fill the void.

If you saw played a very young Toni Kroos back when he still was in the german league that’s what Kai really is, he plays better coming from behind in the middle of the field , Kroos was so instrumental for Germany winning that World Cup for them prior to transferring to Real Madrid where he became a real legend, that’s the type of player Kai eventually will be, it’s truly a shame Chelsea is letting him go because they don’t have a player that smart in the midfield, best wishes to Kai and I’ll rooting for him in the german squad, big lost for Chelsea, Pochettino should have at least try to stay with him for this season, Kai is a thinker not just a player

Should Play him As an 8 how xhaka was I think he’d be good going forward in a free role and is technically better than xhaka he would be good in build up too and takes some of the creative burden off odegaard

3:40 that's pretty concerning no? That a player that costs 65M is consistently underperforming and not scoring... his "work rate" stats are a bit misleading, because it's not like he is a good defensive midfielder, he's active, but it's not always good play. It's his goals and late box involvement he's wanted for, but I don't know there's pretty big red flags over what level of player the club just bought. Just because he scored a CL winning goal, it does not absolve him from the mostly poor play. Reminds me of a couple of Bayern players who scored CL final goals but we're pretty meandering players overall...

As a CFC fan - he is not a magical footballer. He has just few strengths, but tons of weaknesses. He is really slow in decision making, he takes often couple of touches when there is easy route forward and just stops everything. His passing especially in runs is not great, he missplaces easy passes (I remember few of those, when it was 2x2 or even 3x2 and he just sends it wide or too long and screws the situation completely. I honestly hope Arsenal buys him. I dont doubt Arteta will use him better, but after 3 years it is enough and I just dont want to see him on the field for us.

@@ShiNooBi1986 I can find my reactions for Mourinho screwing it up with KdB and hopes he will play in starting lineup. More Salah would be accurate, where I did not trust him. De Bruyne receive 441 minutes over his long CFC career. That is less than 5 matches across all competitions. Salah received less than 900 minutes. Havertz received almost 9k minutes across 3 years and all competitions. 20x more. He had what, 20 good matches?

This is so brilliant, I was just talking with my coworker about this trade and he said it was a waste. As someone who watched Havertz at Leverkusen and understands that his last season with Chelsea was truly underwhelming because Chelsea was just awful, I couldn't find the right ways to convince him of how ingenious this purchase could be for Arsenal, til now. With all of this information I believe for Arsenal he will play that left sided Cam role similar to Xhaka's role but alot more attacking, making more runs into the box and this will be okay for our system if we manage to sign Declan Rice who is an expert at stopping transitions allowing us to have more attacking players on the pitch
