Max Kepler leaving is lowkey awesome. He was a dead energy vet on this team. His only value to this franchise was taking advantage of the 2019 juiced ball era, reading the ball well off of the right wall at Target Field, and looking pretty for all the ladies in right. Goodbye Max!

Apparently the A’s need to reach a certain payroll level if they want to move the team. If not they risk a lawsuit by the MLB PA that could block the move. This was reported this morning on Hot Stove

The MN Twins will have to eat half of Paddick's and Vasquez's contract and include some kind of prospect to trade both or either player.

On the bright side, Passan is rarely right. Let's face the fact, if "the Fail-vey" gets a great trade offer, Lopez, Correa and Buxton will be moved.

Pholads are dumb enough to sell off their biggest players that would drop their overall price of the team. Thats fine though, let a new ownership group come in with a clean slate and bring in people they want in a front office and on the field, our farm system isnt the worst either.

Generally no matter the sport or league there is a player sell off before any sale of a professional team as it reduces liability to the new owners.

Twins fans have been so conditioned to "rebuild" that I think some of you get excited at the idea of it. This team isn't that far away. There is zero reason to rebuild.
@bradgast3028Күн бұрын
By the time you trade Vazquez you eat $5M, Jeffers/ Camargo is a mess so you go out there in FA & get an inferior catcher for $5M. You gain nothing & have an inferior product, The best route is to go out there & be creative by unloading Dobnak off the top.There's a very good market on Paddack & Jeffers, you go out there & be creative & trade for young promising MLB-ready catchers. IMO Vazquez is more interested in years than $, you extend him 2yrs. for $12M. You save $4M per year on Vazquez. $4.7M on Jeffers You save $3M on Dobnak, & $7.5M on Paddack. Total $19.2M savings. You trade for any small need, you don't trade Correa, Lopez, Castro or any core player. Unlike last year you come up with a better team not worse. Sit & wait isn't being creative.
@rickmeisch643Күн бұрын
Who do the Twins expect to be in the stands if they trade pitching? That’s what keeps you in the game! Lopez isn’t a number one on other teams so his value won’t get a premier minor leaguer with much potential. A player like Correa would bring more and his age says to do so would be ok and they have Lee to step in and do ok. With a young starter pitching core you need a veteran to hold things from going disastrous for the team.

If the club is sold for 1.7 billion, getting rid of 60 million really doesn't make that much difference. > 4%

Only way any of this works, is if the value we get back from trading proven assests, ie, draft, prospects, they need to look like the future and give fans something to get excited about. Otherwise, what are we doing?

@darrinthurston3308 it's not that we should I just don't like Correa that much as a player and buxton been to injured or his production has been bad at points with all the strikeouts and Kepler is definitely a good fielder I'll miss that but he was always pretty slow out the gate as a hitter and you need production that's consistent

Kepler was a stiff. Good defensively but atrocious at the plate with men on base. He’s a career .230 hitter. No great loss.

Wouldn't be shocked if they traded Pablo especially if they get a crazy offer for him twins are close to contending so having Pablo untouchable would be foolishness but shouldn't move him unless your getting a surefire haul
@Razorbacks1Күн бұрын
Catching has been a black hole since Mauer. Falvey has no clue how to draft or acquire catchers. Look at the catching prospects since Falvey took over. He couldn’t find a decent catcher in the draft if he stumbled over one. Jeffers and Vazquez both need to be jettisoned. Go out and get just an average MLB catcher who is both offensively and defensively decent and trade for a young prospect from someone else’s organization. I blame Falvey 100% for not bringing in any catching talent.
@joeacker703Күн бұрын
What other team can say they only used 2 catchers the last 2 seasons while being highly competative? Last Septembers freefall doesn't change the fact that this has been a really good team for 2 years with only 2 catchers used.

The Twins seemingly never noticed Jeffers was rolling at the plate when he got at least 2/3s of the starts (much of 2023 and April 2024).

In talking about we can't move Lopez because he's the teams pitching leader: so what? It's quite obvious to me that winning is not a concern of this franchise. Nk surprise here at all that they dump Lopez and Correa Buxton. Why would that be a surprise? I actually expect them to. Kepler bashing? I think we all knew he was going to be gone especially once payroll cutting started. But bashing him after he leaves is low class. Was he great? No. But he was serviceable which is a lot better than some of these stiffs on the team called prospects. I'd rather have players like Kepler than someone like Buxton and Lewis that appear to be all talk and hype.

If you trade Lopez, you better trade Correa and Buxton. Full rebuild. I would even consider moving Lewis if the return is worthy. Lewis will leave the first chance he gets anyways. Orioles and Astros were once the worst teams in the league. With cheap ass owners, you have to capitalize on pre arb players.

This team is a joke. Not capitalizing on the 2023 season is going to be the demise of this franchise. The division isn’t getting worse. The mindset around the team and its health is suffocating. They trade Correa and or Pablo and I am out. Trade Lewis, trade buxton, and anyone else. We should be adding to the core not subtracting from it. Put a competitive team on the field and people will respond. They are super close to losing people more than they already have.
@crb3307Күн бұрын
I will go through whatever rebuild we need to go through. If we go for it then awesome. I'm with Judd, it is what it is. I am mainly still happy the pohlads are selling and would be patient on the new owners for just 5 years. I wanna hear a plan from them and for them to show action and stick with the plan. We're gonna have to get creative to compete.
@joeacker703Күн бұрын
Why is it a time to rebuild? The roster as it stands is young enough and competative enough to contend. All MN fans ever hear about is "the future" and it doesn't seem to matter who is runnning things. This team isn't that far away if they didn't act like they need to count pennies. The Pohlads are destroying a good thing.
@RobbyBJust1B4IDIEКүн бұрын
Ok this conversation needs to shift this team will not be competitive until there are new owners. So they need to work out what the next window is. Unless the new owners are right around the corner Pablo and C4 don’t fit the window. So maximize the value and trade them. They are not operating with championship goals or aspersions from ownership so we need some self awareness about the truth of this situation and stop acting like any decision made isn’t done with a profit and loss statement. Winning is not their goal so reset your expectations!
