I'm an only offline player- have been since 22, and I feel like in both MLB 22 and 23, I had tons of content to work with, tons of good, free cards to earn and plenty of free packs to make stubs to BUY reward cards I wanted. In 23, I played a ton, finished every set and had a great time overall. 24- I love the gameplay and the feel, but damn if I don't feel unrewarded. The programs so far (Other than Show Classics) have been pitiful, and the clear lean towards 40k packs over program related cards is EGREGIOUS. One of the most blatantly grubby things they've done is monetize Topps Now/Season Awards. When I saw Oswaldo Cabrera tear up at the start of the season I was SO excited to get his likely Topps Now or Awards card- and it came! In a 40k pack. I still don't have him because he's ridiculously expensive. Compared to Oswaldo's FREE Topps Now card that was not only in MLB 22 when he earned it, but also returned in MLB 23! It's been beyond disappointing how IMMEDIATELY more predatory the monetization is this year. I have maybe 1 90 OVR live series card, being Gerrit Cole (Who I paid for rather than packed) and I've completed almost everything I can offline. I've dabbled in online play but personally I just don't enjoy it (I'm bad, and I know it, and I play primarily to play digital baseball, not compete.) The Show Classics seemed like a good sign- but then we got yet ANOTHER 40k pack for the Mexico Series- but its fine because we got a free Altuve right!! That whole thing was a program last year, was it mid? Yeah, but it was free. I don't know, I'm really hoping things improve because I do have fun playing, but the content just isn't ideal. (Also Pipeline has to be one of the WORST pack ideas- it's future stars with a new name, and personally- I DON'T CARE ABOUT THESE GUYS! I want current players, legends etc. Every TA2 AL East Card was a PIPELINE CARD!)

I can agree on everything except the take on Pipline. Some people including myself are really into prospects. I was waiting all year for sds to drop a Cade Horton card so when I saw they finally did it this year I was pretty hyped to get the card. A lot of the pipeline guys are the future of their teams so it's exciting. Again just my point of view on pipeline series, I can agree with all your other points.

The major issue I find is that packs are horrible this year. Before it you bought a regular package with 50 packs with your stubs - you automatically had some great cards ''by ratio'' that were either good for collecting or selling for stubs. Now? It's garbage, for the most part, mostly free agents under 70 overall and bats. The other thing I never understood is why you don't have a stub card in every set like in FIFA and NFL. Even if the card gives you 100-200 stubs by quick selling it who cares it's better than nothing. Even Madden 24 understood the message this year and they offered decent players who are 90-overall to casual gamers that are not difficult MLB The Show doesn't have the market FIFA or Madden have, there is a risk of making your base angry by over-doing it. And when you are becoming worse than Madden in terms of micro-transactions, it's not a compliment. I would add something. Very few legends team on the Show. NBA 2k and NHL are good for that. It's a shame that you cannot play some teams that won the World Series just every MLB franchise should have a ''best of all time'' team.

Was finishing grinding the new mini seasons for the xp yesterday and had the CPU hit 10 consecutive foul balls then end the AB with a perfect. That shit is crazy to me that not only are foul balls a problem in multi-player modes but also in play vs cpu modes.

I don’t like this year edition. Too many fielders casually throwing the ball during games. Fielders not seem to care. Weird glitches like fielder looks at the ball on the ground and picks it up slowly like someone spotting something that made them curious I swear this year game I have noticed so many more glitches than I did in the previous years. The past years of the game, I literally saw little glitches every now and then. Like Once or twice every month and that’s it

The worst? No. But the series has problems. I started playing baseball video games about 25 years ago on PC. Regarding DD, the mode is a mess this year. I played a lot 22 and 23 on DD and I was able to get a 98-99 overall team by playing Conquest/Mini Seasons/doing collections and this by almost spending no outside money. This year, packs are of low value unless you buy stubs to buy theme packs. Rewards are jokes. And the price of some really ordinary cards is really high. My two other pet peeves? Annoncers are horrible. With AI it would be easy to do better in this field. And as much as the stadium creator is a nice touch, the number of ''official'' stadiums is ridiculously low.

I've been playing baseball games since my very first one which was Triple Play 2003. I even played the MLB 2000s series by 989 which was the precursor to MLB: The Show. I have played every MLB: The Show title since 2006 and the game has barely changed outside of graphical improvements. RTTS: This game mode is criminally underdeveloped for being the second most popular game mode. The basic setup has remained unchanged since RTTS was introduced in (I believe) MLB The Show 2007. Do tryouts and combine stuff (If that years game even included it), get drafted, rake in the minors, get called to the show, repeat. There are no story elements, no decisions to make for your player, your player can't speak as all dialogue is through text boxes and a narrator. Barely any progression which has been replaced with the equipment cards to boost stats. On top of all of that, the game mode is just plain boring. The biggest edition they have made in the last 5 years was the pseudo story text box conversations they have with your coach, but guess what? They haven't updated the dialogue or animations since they released this feature. It all feels old and outdated. Hell Before they replaced Matt Vasgersian and the team with the new announce team I had been hearing the same voice lines in 2019 that I had heard in MLB The Show 07. It's better than what Madden give you, but still it needs a major overhaul. Game overall: I am an outlier when it comes the The Show because, I actually couldn't care less about Diamond Dynasty or any "Ultimate Team" game mode. It has never interested me and I know there are others like me. And like with every other sports title, players like me are forced to grind through the undeveloped game modes that the developer couldn't be bothered to flesh out because at the end of the day it, it's about the $$, and RTTS or Franchise, or any other game mode makes them the money quite like DD or Ultimate team. You would also think that being basically the only baseball game worth playing in the market that they would try to innovate and push the boundary to keep that status secure right? Well unfortunately, it seems that the opposite has been occurring for more than a decade. Almost zero innovation - in fact - I would argue that they have removed more from the game than they have added. Mini games removed, Franchise mode severely stripped back, and only recently have we seen it be given more attention, RTTS repetitive and unsatisfying etc. I would love to see more creative license taken with the sport i.e. give me mini games! One of the best things about the old Madden games from the 00s was the practice drill mini games, which included more out of box mini games that I sunk hours into. TL;DR - The game is boring and repetitive and is in dire need of an update/overhaul. The game modes are stale and underdeveloped using animations and previous voice line files that have been in the game for 2 decades. The game as a whole lacks variety and creativity when it comes to making a baseball game which has come as a direct result of being the only major player around.

They're still making the game for the PS4 😂 They had to strip the other modes to get the Diamond Dynasty in. You can only put so much depth in the game. Mainly because they're using stone tablets to create it. It's all about money for them now. The days of being innovative are gone and been gone. I'm not someone that sits here and gets mad at a company for making money, I understand why they put DD in the game. I even play DD. My problem is that they won't use the current technology to add more depth and better graphics. They could put way more into each mode if the just used the technology available to them. But they got to sell packs to people that's still playing on PS4 😂 If you're still playing on a PS4 at this point, you don't have the money for packs 😂 Make it make sense..... I have also been playing this game since MLB 98 on PS1. This is the first year that I didn't buy this game. The fact that it was on PS4 yet again was the main factor. The fact that it's woke garbage was the icing on top.

My biggest beef with this game is that I have 130 hours on it and still haven’t finished the XP reward path. I only play DD and mostly play online. I just got Rollins and need 100k XP to get the other 2. The season 1 collection is the same thing. I have all the programs done and I still don’t have a collection boss. I am barely at Lou Brock.

Started playing in '21. I have not been a fan of the game balancing or the direction of DD in the last three iterations of the game. SDS is not listening to its fanbase and feels as if they are actively going against the feedback of their best players and content creators when it comes to gameplay and quality of life. If you're going to make the change that you did with rewards, make BR 12-0 again and with a 90+ LS OR make the 10-win a 90+ choice pack. If the goal is to monetize the game more, do it via cosmetics. I picked up this game because it wasn't predatory like Madden, 2K and FIFA and felt as though the studio listened and communicated with its player base. That is no longer the case. Transparency is gone and the messaging is tone deaf.

Unless you’re a professional gamer that plays this game for a living it’s impossible for an average player to succeed in this game because of the stupid unrealistic rng of this game. I’ve been playing mlb the show for almost 20 years and I still can’t get to World Series online. Every single time I go on a roll where I’m locked in hitting good pitches with good to perfect timing I end up losing a game to someone getting bloop hits or badly timed homeruns with inferior power hitters. I can’t tell you how infuriating it is to play a video game that requires decent skills and do what you’re supposed to do to succeed and still fail. Like you said. No matter what difficulty or what hitting or pitching controlling options you play with, if time up pitch in the hitting zone with perfect or good timing it should always result in at least a base hit. I don't own this year's game because I don't feel it's worth a full $70 + tax. I've played since 2005 (maybe even before that) and Franchise is, like 99%, the same. They took away a phenomenal aspect in an actual Seaon mode, where you could choose to play the full 162 or a less amount of games. Graphics are really the only good change in the game overall but...that's to be expected after such a long history. Not being able to apply attributes to my rtts player was something dumb...and still is. I've heard so many complaints of this year's game, that I'm honestly thinking of not buying the game at all.

As a gamer that has played baseball games back as far as R.B.I. and Triple Play baseball games, I find MLB The Show incredibly boring and a waste of my time. I was still playing The Show 20 until they nuked the servers. I can barely stomach the game enough to get out of spring traing. I can get hits and score runs in any of the older games, yet in 24 I can line up multiple Perfect Perfects and end a game in a lose 2-3 hits recorded. Pisses me off just thinking about it and writing this comment. BTW I only play Franchise and RTTS.

Franchise mode updated the scouting and drafting. It’s been fine. The player rankings seem weird and A prospects don’t get good fast enough but it’s better than before. I don’t have enough time to grind enough to play online so I don’t even bother

As an avid offline only player, this game is atrocious and so disappointing. Gameplay wise, it’s just falling behind. My biggest complaint last year was defensive urgency, they claimed to “fix” it but the stupid animations they have has actually made it worse. Hitting is entirely to easy, while pitching is next to impossible. Foul ball rate for the CPU has made this game unplayable is downright awful. RTTS and franchise are still behind 2k and get boring after awhile. I used to be able to play for months but the gameplay on 24 is just sooooo infuriating.

I strictly only play franchise and everything is pretty much as you’d expect except for the bugs you have to deal with. Any time you make a MLB-related roster move, all your lineups and rotations got reset. This did not happen in any other MLBTS. The CPU feels off sometimes, I’ll sweep the dodgers with a 35-5 run differential, then play the athletics and get absolutely destroyed. I play Hall of Fame and it doesn’t feel consistent

Its still early in the diamond dynasty season, is everyone expecting to the top cards in the first month? Mlb the show is best sports game at not forcing players to by packs. I've been playing this game since it was just MLB on the PS1. I cannot tell you the hours I've dropped on this game over that time. I probably don't even want to know. This is a game that I've played every year since 98 with serious intent. There are other franchises that I've played alot, but this is one of the ones that I've played the most by far..... This is the first year that I didn't get the game........ I started reading the writing on the wall a couple of years ago. When I seen that they was making 24 for the PS4 yet again, I told myself I wasn't getting it this year. They've been rehashing the same game over and over for a decade. We're almost to the PS6 and The Show is still making their games for the PS4. This is absolutely absurd. I did not look at anything about the game in the lead up to release. I didn't care. They were using stone tablets to create the game and there were plenty of developers that were using the current technology to produce a modern game that I was more interested in. The night before release I seen an advertisement for it and I got that "what if it's good?" thought running through my stupid head. Begrudgingly, I went to look at the trailer.... And there it was...... Wokeness. You can now play as a female in The Show? WTF? Are the joking? They got to be joking?????? This is the "new" feature? Nope, they wasn't joking. As a matter of fact, it seemed to be the biggest selling point for them. I turned the trailer off in disbelief and felt EXTREMELY confident in my decision not to buy the game. Glad I didn't buy it. It seems this old veteran was right on the money. It's such a shame. The Show has always been a forward thinking game that was by far the best sports sim for many, many years. It is now woke garbage created with ancient technology. Might as well play MLB 98.

This was the game I would wait for as a baseball fan but its been on a decline for a few years but it was completely evident this year with how broken the game started. Even after the initial patch to make it fully playable, the game still feels empty unless you're pulling out your CC. They have turned into a pay to play franchise like the rest. Until the next baseball game comes along i will no longer support the show past this year

I didn’t get mob 22 because I didn’t have time and didn’t play 23 because same thing but I found time for 24 and holy fuck, I’m free to play always, and by the end of my run on 21 I had half a mil stubs and I don’t play the market just play the game, I also bought tons of cards on 21 and completed collections, not this year, I barely have 200k and haven’t bought a single player on the market, I use free cards and cards I’ve pulled from packs, what a difference

The knowing the 10 win reward by the second win is something they should have never let in the game. It is an obvious exploit that created a cancer in the game. I feel the right choice was to randomize. In the next 3 weeks after over 10 thousand 90+ Live series cards are pumped into the game because of the pack on the wheel this situation is going to feel even more moot because even the likes of Ohtani and Trout will be going for around 20k. My personal take is that content creators have seen an overall downtick which happened across all games and platforms and they attribute it to their game of choice being "dead". Bad attitudes breed bad attitudes and before you know it there is just an endless yammering of "this game stinks" while the majority of each games actual player base is having a much better time with some of the toxicity removed from the player pool. There are obvious issues with the game, but the majority of what is being complained about was literally asked for en mas by the same group complaining once again. I.E. "Cards won't hold value, anyone can get them, why was the event reward a 99 I just quicksold for 10k because that was also the sell now price" and the obvious remedy is to tighten up the market and make it more difficult to obtain cards. The scarcity of Stubs in general also changes the landscape. A 40k card this year is about the same exchange rate as a 200k card in previous years. I agree with the sentiment that packs need to be better, more affordable, earnable and everything; I just find it odd when so many people wonder why this is happening when they asked for it. Maybe when/if we get another game like last year when they gave us literally everything including choosing which 99 version of our favorite player we wanted to use... people will bitch just a little less.

One issue with your who’s not taking 24 ballin in a habit packs over an 87+ 10 win card is ballin in the habit packs are trash great for you that you got ohtani out of one before but your odds at even getting a diamond out of them or pretty low you have way better odds getting a 90 ovr in 10 wins then you do with ballin packs

Is SDS getting advice from Bobby Kotick (ex ceo of Activision) on how to run a live service lol. Government needs to step in and start protecting us from these greedy companies promoting pay to win live service like other countries have already done. Honestly, If live service is pay to win then consumers should be able to get a refund on the full value of the game within 30 days and a prorated amount if after 30 days unless the developer provides a reasonable method of obtaining pay to win items that do not require an exorbitant amount of time invested. Also every game also needs to fully disclose (in an easy to understand language) that the game is considered pay to win and that players who purchase in game items will have a significant advantage vs those who do not and provide a refund method. Not sure why video game consumers are not protected with a reasonable refund method for games when pretty much all retail stores do.
