My advice is to do eBay the way you find fun. Focus on what you love and become elite. If you love anime or plush, go for it. Find a way to make it work. Don’t force yourself to list things you hate listing just because they have good value.

I heard you say in an older video that if you took the time to clean up your shoes you may have gotten more money. Since you are going to spend more time on the stock you already have go back into your inventory clean some of the shoes and retake a better picture and see if it is worth your time. Great video.

I do 10% promoted listings on pretty much all my stuff.... it still hardly sells. I am convinced that the real key to success on ebay is being able to source items that will sell for good profit and fast. Being able to source well is the number one biggest thing. I personally can't source enough good inventory to make it full time. So I just take what I can find every now and then and have given up on reselling otherwise.

I would change your strategy with your listings. Sell only proven items, optimise listings against your competitors, sell more expensive items (less competition / more profit margin), and automate / outsource as many processes as possible. I've found this has helped me a lot on ebay 😊

Hi Matt, I always chuckle to myself when people start moaning about ebay fees! I've been in retail with the costs of bricks and mortar and can now run my business from my couch, and the tools, structure and information that ebay gives you as a reseller is amazing and there is no way I could achieve my results without it, imagine running your own website and trying to get the eye's on it you need for volume! I always thought my model train business would be a mix of Facebook, Gumtree and eBay but realise now if you just do ebay RIGHT you will have no need to chase sales on other platforms. Terrific video, been subbed for ages, cheers from Mollyburger Model Railways! 🚂

Being full time is way too stressful for me. I need to have a regular income to cover my living expenses and then I'm not stressing as much. Ebay has always been bubbling along for me as supplemental income. However I now have a much more cohesive ten year plan with my reselling but I will still have another source of income to keep me calm.

I started reselling 3 years ago, it’s supplemental income as we are retired now. I know someone who went full time reselling and didn’t last a year, that being said I think they niched down too fast into a category difficult to consistently source. Keep that in mind, what sells but what can you buy!

Hi Matt. Well done on reaching 30K subscribers. I sell on Ebay, Etsy and Vinted. Also, I never advertise the same listings across platforms. This means regular customers are more loyal and frequent my shops more often and know each will be different. As for fees, people need to stop moaning about them, and concentrate on working smarter - not harder - to achieve their objectives as resellers. There are tough times ahead for all of us but with a clear and determined mindset, success will become a hill, not a mountain.

I just started reselling 5 months ago, and so far things are going pretty well. I was wondering though, as I've heard different suggestions from different people, on whether or not you go through your store and delist/relist items. If so, whats your time frame for that? I've heard people say 3 months, 6 moths, and some even further out than that. I've found that I'm not as patient as I thought I was, so I have the urge to price adjust and/or relist more than I probably should. I don't do it, but I really really want to lol... just wondering what your thoughts were on the subject. Thanks and congrats on 30k subscribers!

So I started back in March and have a great average sales price $46.00. My biggest issue is sourcing enough stuff. I don't seem to find much at Estate sales, yard sales, flea markets and thrift stores. This is a part time gig, so time is always an issue. My goal is to source enough in one day, two list for the week or next couple weeks. My store only has about 90 items. Any advice about sourcing? Thanks for the great advice.

@theaussieflipper looking at your spreadsheet I don't see a column to plug in a value for your time into the equation per item before and after being sold. How do you track to deduct value of your time spent and would it make sense to have a column to account for your time spent in a dollar amount for each item sold? Thanks!
@TheAussieFlipper
@TheAussieFlipper 27 күн бұрын
I appreciate the thought around this but in my opinion it’s completely the wrong way to think about it. It’s not a 9-5 job you’re building a business. Building a business takes a lot of time effort and energy far outweighing any $ per hour metric that would make you want to continue doing it. The pay off comes down the line when things become more efficient.. at no point however would I look into the hourly rate of the work I’m doing especially in the early days.
@Chrisforlife
@Chrisforlife 27 күн бұрын
@@TheAussieFlipper I hear you. I meant wouldn't your tax burden be a lot less if you showed you weren't making as much per item because you are valuing your time, which would reduce profit margins. Definitely a question for a good Accountant and small business tax expert. Keep up the good work!

Hi Matt, is you ebay business a LTD company and are you registered for Vat? I know you are based in Australia (I'm in UK) but just wondered how your situation is setup if I were to do the same here. In the UK I think the VAT threshold is over 80K turnover. Also do you offer International shipping on all items? How does that work in terms of customs fees? I recently listed an item and ebay added 20% for vat which I didn't properly understand. Congrats on the 30K subscribers btw. My wife a I really enjoy your video's....keep it up!

Totally agree re:fees. Ebay allows us to have a global reach. Id say half my sales are international. I sell so many items to the US and UK, and my prices aren't cheap. 15% really is nothing when you consider you don't have B&M OH. Also, if anyone is gonna do reselling, they need to continually learn and get better. It doesn't even matter if thrifts are getting more expensive bc so many that I go to still don't know the real value of a lot of items, and if we have the mindset of beating the thrift, we will always win.
