Goal oriented. Knowing the "why" behind what you do. That's the difference between successful and unsuccessful KZbinrs. Identify why and refine it over years and the "what and "how" will follow.

And this is why I can't see myself even trying to do most of the successful stuff out there. There's already so many people filling the spots and doing a much better job and with more passion for it. It's a drop in the ocean. This video helped solidify what to do with my channel. You gotta find an angle that makes you happy and also is interesting to people. And you do it because it's what you want to add to the landscape. You believe in your product enough to keep doing it and get better and take feedback. You connect with people on things you share a love for, and it works out in the end. Doesn't have to be the next big thing. It just has to be worth your time and effort and thought. You survive however you can, you enjoy your time as much as you can, and you try to make the world a little better by being here. It's a balance you gotta constantly try to achieve and maintain. 👍🏻

Yes great provocation, as a near retirement age filmmaker who is trying to understand the New World, there is not enough of this kind of discussion. Subscribed.

I enable everyone to be successful as a creator or an artist. That vision is made possible by my KZbin channel. On that channel I make simple, approachable tutorials for all kinds of tools. Why. What. How. In that order. Why does your KZbin channel exist?

Alright man, you got me hooked… more photomator vids please so I an finally get rid of my adobe subscription. For example; how do I get my massive Lightroom library with all the adjustments in apple photos & photomator etc???

I'm hoping we get an answer to these situations soon. There are some big technical hurdles right now with making that happen.

I guess my answer to the question is two-fold: 1) As a travel & events niche channel, I enjoy sharing what I am seeing and experiencing with anyone else who wants to experience it vicariously; 2) I want to watch my video editing change, grow, and, hopefully, get better as I learn more though watching how others edit their videos. The first part is to attempt to engage and increase the enjoyment of the view, while the second is to better my skill sets. Am I successful? That is in the eye of the beholder.

If you're growing, then you're successful on #2. The first is harder to measure, but I challenge you to try. What evidence could you collect that would prove that people are "enjoying" the videos? View count? Comments? View duration? Something else entirely? Nailing down your goal is often the hardest part.

@@JosephSlinker If one is looking for stats, then I think in the analytics one can go check out the total number of views since the beginning and divide by the number of subscribers, or go to one's most popular video and divide by the number of likes. *Shrug*...Also, watch times are a good clue.

At the end of the day, analytics isn't the "why" you're doing something, but it's always nice if you can find numbers that align with your goal. I have every confidence that as you grow as a filmmaker you'll develop an intuition for whether your video is "enjoyable" or not. Wishing you all the best on your journey!
