That dish you waited for 1 hour is Char Kuey Teow. They used to add cockles, but not any more. Another similar dish is Char Kuey Kak. You can identify it by its cube shape. I love both! The cost of living there is cheap because it's USD$1:RM$4.4! Used to be 4.7. You can't be talking about MM2H because I heard they are very expensive to apply $$$$.....East Malaysia is slightly cheaper but many end up in Thailand because of this. This is why I haven't given up on my Malaysian citizenship even though I live in US now. Enjoy your Langkawi trip! Last time I went there was 1989 so I bet alot has changed.

I liked Penang, and I enjoyed the overnight train from Hua Hin. Spent a few days, visa run done, and was happy to return to Thailand. It's definitely a pleasant visa run. Gotta try Phu Quoc Vietnam. Cheers, Greeny multiple beers 😂

How many days are you required to stay out of Thailand?
@seanmercer92922 күн бұрын
That's a gray area. I made a 4 day trip of my penang visit but have done many cross-border same day visa runs . Visa runs in Thailand are an industry in itself.
@jazzsounds81592 күн бұрын
@seanmercer9292 I was thinking about Albania, where Americans are allowed 365 days, then a visa run. Some people are saying 30 days out of the country, and some same day. Don't want a fine or jail time. 🫣

Love Georgetown and also Kota Kinabalu. Went for a run up Penang hill and to Batu Ferringi. Heaps of monkeys. That service charge invariably goes to the owner so consider that. I stayed at the Eastern and Oriental did a couple of nights - had a butler allocated to me. Pretty weird. Sister hotel to Raffles in Singapore and The Peninsula HK.

Sidebar: How do you now compare the LTR visa with your past regular retirement visa? I'm thinking of taking the plunge to LTR. But do you recommend one over the other? And could this please be another great video from you? on the video: I really like Penang. I remember our guide reminding us (over and over) that they have the 5th longest suspension bridge in the world. LOL

Greeny, I lived in Quayside for 3 years. Many of the units have serious plumbing problems. We had 7 major plumbing problems in 3 years. The facilities look all right but normal tenants have trouble using the tennis courts and the pools are only waste high and too many children. They try to sell those units but I would never recommend them to anyone. Trust me that there are much better units than what you saw at straits quay and quayside.Construction will continue for years on the manmade islands. I stay away from lines in penang. Penangites seem to flock to certain businesses and it becomes a ritual. Often the food is nothing special. It is an asian thing to follow the crowd. I truly like Penang, but be careful. They built a school next to quayside and they evicted the local fishermen who were living there for many years. The school construction caused lots of cracks in the building and widespread insect infestation that they did not fix as of 3 years ago. You could not go out on your balcony in the evening without being eaten by mosquitoes. Just giving an honest warning that Quayside has a good look but I question the quality and the facilities. I lived there for 3 years. The insects and the plumbing became unbearable. 2 tennis courts for over a thousand units and then the courts are booked by coaches and 5 year olds. You can do much better in Tanjong. Bungah. As you saw batu ferrhinghi is not really a swimming beach. I still like Penang as a place to live. If you want upscale then look to,the oceanside units in tanjong bungah. Every thing has a cost. Thanks for the video.
@jbranche80243 сағат бұрын
Thank you for educating us. The details help a lot in deciding if someone wants to stay more than just a few days. The plumbing is same in parts of Thailand. Some buildings do Not install a vent pipe and the smell will fill the bathroom. I know dragonflies will eat a lot of mosquitos. Are there any dragonflies in the area?

Any retire in/move to Malaysia video is sort of useless since you essentially have to be a millionaire to qualify for the MM2H with its USD $300,000 immediate financial commitment requirement. Penang and KL were at the top of my list to move to this year, but taking 300k of Liquidity off the table is a too rich for my blood.
@GreenyTravels21 сағат бұрын
Yea. That might be tough to do. The entry was 90 days do short term stays good
@80ProofRecordsMediaServices4 сағат бұрын
@@GreenyTravels Hard to retire for just 90 days unless the cancer diagnosis is really dire. Yes, you can visit Malaysia as a tourist (20 million+ do yearly), but that is visiting, not moving.
