Regarding my questioning of "Rock of Ages" I have this to say: Due to nerves and the excitement of being live, I wasn’t as clear as I should have been. My concern is with the use of the word "water," not necessarily with the concept of a "double cure." Yes, water did flow from Christ, but the Bible tells us that we are saved by His blood, not by water. I believe that the use of this lyric could be misleading. However, it does seem that most people interpret the "double cure" as referring to being saved from sin and then being made pure, which I also discovered through a bit of online research. So, perhaps this isn't the best example to illustrate my point. If the hymn writer were alive, we could ask for clarification. :) Nonetheless, there are other examples of hymn texts that are theologically inaccurate, so I still believe my overall point stands: just because a song is old or traditional doesn’t mean it’s inspired.

I have a vinyl collection of children's Christian music from the 1980s and 1990s. Psalty is classic! Kids are grown, and one has become an athiest, but I still love them! (Both my son and his old music.)
