At the end of days, Korea is not obligated to accommodate the needs of Muslim, because Korea is not their country. These Muslim folks come from Muslim country and love the laws and system of South Korea, for reason that South Korea is not Muslim country, but Christian majority country.

There are plethora of inevitable issues which are heart burning 🔥 which muslims are facing in Korea. Beard is dirty thing for Korean as long as it's on Muslim or South Asian's face. But if a westerner have same beard then they have no issue. If a Muslim avoids from pork and meat then they think you are an extremist + if you are an Indian vegan/vegetarian then they think you are a conservative. But if westerners are vegetarian then they think westerners are health conscious 🤔. It's totally biasing behavior of the society. I remember, when I came to Korea in 2019, we were on a dinner with our professor. I avoided pork and meat stuffs at the restaurant. Professor insulted me in front of other labmates saying "don't be a radical, Muslims have a small world, Muslim have a small mind etc." 🤔. Eventhough he was partially drunk, but you know a person spits his hidden opinion when his mind isn't working haha. WTF I am a Muslim I have to obey my religious values. Why I should eat pork? If Chinese have more option of eating dog/cat etc., does it mean they are more open minded than Koreans? More importantly if a cannibal eats human fresh meat, then? So, these are common issues which I don't think will be uprooted from the society before 22nd century.

Coming from a Muslim majority country that has many foreign students and workers, I could understand how some Koreans would react to foreigners. For me personally, tolerance works both ways. When we are guests in a foreign country, we should behave and adapt to local cultures without sacrificing our Islamic principles, etc. It is just that sometimes foreigners are loud and tend to be 'rude' to the locals.

I think it's wrong to say that about foreigners when such things can happen by the locals too. I never felt like this about foreigners in my country, they are humans like us and they are probably going through a difficult time because they are far away from their home and family. Like there are some bad foreigners there are also many bad people amongst our own citizens, so we shouldn't have such prejudice against foreigners especially towards our own fellow Muslims. But even those who are not Muslim. Again, good or bad is not about where the person comes from but about that person's own character. Good and bad people are everywhere.

Koreans need to stop using what they see in the media as an excuse to keep discriminating and treating people poorly. I don't know anyone in modern society that keeps defending their backwards mindset like Koreans to be honest. I'm African and theres nothing we don't see in the news about every country as well but I'm not ignorant to think if I see someone from say Mexico I'm gonna start thinking drugs and kidnapping ring. That's stupid and that's on me for not educating myself in this day and age where knowledge and info is right at our fingertips. Being in a homogenous society is no excuse for living in and defending hate. I don't see them claim ignorance when they use other peoples culture and lifestyle to benefit from it. Incorrect. Islam is for the world. The Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him instructed Muslims to pray 5 times a day. Even upon his dying moments he was concerned for the prayers of people. Muslims expanded all over the world and never hid their prayers at home the way you are advising. 😅 excuse me, but please don't make up a religion of your own and call it Islam. You can't pray all your prayers in the evening, it is basic knowledge that Prayers are time dependent and each one has to be done at its precise timeframe. You aren't harming anyone if you pray 2 prayers each taking 5min at MOST in your working hours. I've done it before and even deduced it from my lunch break, nothing to fret about. Many employees would spend the same time at their phones without a care or even take coffee or toilet breaks without being penalized for it. Society is moving towards relaxed work environment, so for an employee to take a 5min break 2 times a day to pray isn't going to ruin anyones work. Going for Friday prayer for an hour and then sitting for another after the working hours wouldn't hurt anyone or RUIN their business 😅.

이게 정답이죠. 다른 문화들과 달리 무슬림에 대해서는 다른 시각을 가질 수 밖에 없는 이유가 무슬림은 그 나라의 법이나 문화보다 자신의 종교가 모든 것의 위에 있다는 관념때문에 존중이 바탕이 되지 않고 다른 문화의 질서와 행위를 무시하는 행동들을 자주 보이죠. 그래서 다수가 되어 힘이 생기면 굉장히 무서운 악영향이 생기는게 무슬림입니다. 무슬림의 특성상 다른 문화에 대한 존중이 부족하기에 우리가 쌓아온 질서나 문화와 관념들을 모조리 무시하고 파괴하고 강요할 가능성이 높습니다. 실제로 비정상회담의 방송 프로그램에서 독일에서 온 닉이 이야기 했듯이 독일에서 무슬림을 위해 수많은 것들을 만들어주고 배려해주고 모스크도 많이 만들고 무슬림의 공휴일도 만들어주고 많은 것들을 양보했는데도 무슬림들은 오로지 자기 문화만 강요하고 계속 요구하고 독일을 존중하지 않는 무시하는 행동을 한 다고 크게 비판하기도 하였죠. 그래서 그럴거면 다른 나라가 아닌 무슬림의 나라에 가서 자신의 맞는 문화를 가지고 살면 된다고 명언을 남기기도 하였고요. 다른 문화들은 어느정도 국제화된 관념과 거기에 맞는 다양성과 존중이 바탕이 되어있고 그렇기에 갈등이 생기더라도 서로 해결되는 기미가 있는데 무슬림과 중국인은 그런 국제화된 보편적인 밑바탕이 많이 부족하고 그렇기에 전 세계에서 갈등이 가장 많이 생기는 부류이며 그렇기에 가장 경계해야 될 문화권이기도 하죠. 모든 문화와 사람들을 받아들이고 같이 더불어 살 수있다는 건 현실성 없는 이상론일 뿐입니다. 우리의 안보와 안전,치안이나 갈등을 줄이려면 냉정하고 현실적으로 파악하고 또 현실에 맞게 맞지 않는 건 배척해야 하는 것이 옳은 겁니다. 물론 모든 무슬림이 존중이 없는 건 아니기에 개개인을 일반화하는 전형적인 차별은 절대 해서는 안 되는 행위지만 그렇다고 무슬림의 관념을 아무런 생각 없이 받아들이는 건 전혀 다른 이야기이며 철저하게 우리의 입장과 규칙을 받아들이지 못 하면 배척해야 하는 냉정함과 현명함을 가져야 하죠.

문제점들을 말씀드리겠습니다. 한국은 무슬림 국가가 아니지만 종교의 자유가 있는 나라기 때문에 무슬림을 믿는건 자유입니다. 단 한국 사회에 있는 관습이나 rule을 따른다는 조건하에서라고 많은 한국인들이 생각합니다. 즉 무슬림을 믿는 외국인들이 한국에 살고싶으면 그정도는 감수해야 한다는 뜻이죠. 예를 들어 영상에서 말했듯이 회사를 다니는데 외국인이 무슬림인이기 때문에 회사에 특별한걸 요구한다면 한국인들이 보기에 불공정한 특혜라고 생각하는 사람들이 많을수 있습니다.무슬림인인 외국인이 한명이라면 어떻게든 해결할 수 있을수도 있지만 만약에 무슬림인 외국인들이 점점 늘어난다면? 이거는 그냥 하나의 예일뿐 한국에 무슬림인 외국인들이 굉장히 많아지고 이분들이 무슬림으로서 특별한것들을 한국사회에 요구했을때 왜 우리가 기존에 해왔던 관습과 rule을 외부인들때문에 바꿔야 하지하고 생각하는 한국인들이 많다는 겁니다. 로마에 가면 로마법을 따라야 한다는 속담이 있듯이 말입니다. 유럽에서 인종차별은 빼고라도 종교갈등으로 무슬림 극단주의자들이 테러를 일으키는것을 보고 한국인들은 무슬림인들을 두려워하고 있습니다.(물론 극단주의자들이 극히 일부일지라도) 그래서 한 예로 한국에서 모스크를 만드거에 대한 갈등이 단순히 모스크를 만드는게 문제가 아니라 모스크가 많아지면 무슬림들이 세력화 될거고 미래에 무슬림인 외국인들이 점점 많아졌을때 한국사회에 무슬림 종교에 관한 특별한것들을 요구하거나 강요하게 되면 사회적 갈등이 되고 한국에서도 극단주의자들에 의한 테러가 일어날수도 있다고 많은 한국인들이 생각을 합니다. 사회갈등중에 가장 무서운 갈등중 하나가 종교갈등입니다.

@@superyt4ever 중동국가들과 얽혀 있어서 현재까지 제대로 국익 챙기고 있다는게 우리의 현실이구요. 무슬림이 한국법 안지키면 추방 내지는 구속인거죠. 여느 외국인들과 마찬가지입니다. 우리의 전통을 안따른다? 기독교인들 역시 우리 전통 안따르잖아요. 부모나 조상님 제사도 안 지내고 같은 종교인들끼리 결혼 하려는 경향. 그외 사회적 골치거리는 도맡아 발생 시키잖아요. 이런 기독교를 놔두고 무슬림만 다른 잣대와 시선을 두는건 넘 편향적이고 차별적 임요.

Pork is banned FOR MUSLIMS in Muslim-majority countries but pork is allowed for non-muslims in muslim countries (at least in all the muslims countries I've visited). Each country is different, they all have their own history, specifities, rules... 무슬림분들이 말하는 차별이라는 것 중에 분리해서 생각해야 할 부분들이 있습니다.. 남자분이 인터뷰 했던 1. 회사에서 쉬는시간을 가지는 것은 무슬림이어서 보이는 차별이라기보다, 회사 동료들과 일하는 시간이 달라지는 "공평,평등, 대등한 조건"에서 역 차별이라고 생각하는 사람들이 생기기때문에 이의제기를 하는겁니다.. 대부분 회사는 1일 8시간을 기준으로 일하므로 반드시 빼야 하는 시간이라면 업주의 입장이나 같이 일하는 동료들이 볼때는 불공평 하다고 생각하는 것입니다. (이게 주가 되면 4~5시간,, 이 되는거니까요..) 2. 이슬람 신전을 짖는걸 방해 하거나 우리동네는 안되 라고 하신것도.. 100% 차별이라고는 할 수 없습니다.. 일부 그런지역이 있을수 있지만, 아닌 경우도 있습니다. 새벽에도 기도를 드려야 하는걸로 알고 있는데 주택가 한 중심에 있으면... 이건 이슬람을 믿지 않는 사람들에게는 정말 소음이 됩니다.. 게다가 새벽에도 기도를 하는걸로 알고 있는데.. 이 시간은 대부분... 자고 있을 시간입니다.. 다음날 출근이나 학교를 위해서... 한국의 기독교의 교회나 천주교의 성당이라고 해도 마찬가지 입니다.. 주택가 한중심에 짖는 경우는 별로 없으며, 만약 짖는다면 방음을 철저히 하지 않는다면(주차 문제나 유동인구 문제 포함) 아마 인근 주민들의 민원이 폭발할 겁니다... 왜 반대를 하는지를 분리 해서 생각하셔야 합니다..

first off love the interviews. You are always very polite and attentive to whoever you are chatting to and it's amazing as you make the person feel comfortable and safe to speak their minds. However, my only issue towards the muslin community is that they want to impose their religion into places where they are visitors. Korean isn't a muslin country so they should not be granted special treatments just because they are muslins. Muslin countries churches are not allowed and the places you find churches you cannot go because people are attacked. You cannot impose your culture when living in someone else's place therefore you cannot ask for perks/advantages. I respect your culture and religion but practice it at your home and that's it!

Korea society respect other religion but originally buddhism. However, their style of praying or how they live with company is too different and culture too. Korea like to know other cultures and respect but do not change everything that you feel uncomfortable. Korea also has its own culture and life style but the more other religion coming the more they want to change too many things and request from the korean government. If you don't like something and feel uncomfortable, that's because this is Korea which is not for only Muslim. They also have to respect Korea and its culture and identity. If we go to your country and gather people so many to insist our right to pray for our religion, is it okay ? even though my opinion would be challenging to everything of the country, is that right thing for the country to accept and change things for us? Before doing something and insist your opinion only , please think about country where you are and respect the culture and their own religion. There is other country for Muslim or Christian but why are you demanding and struggle with Korean people for your religion? Just please satisfying with current situation. Who want to stop you praying? No one. If you live in Korea, just comply to their life style and respect and enjoy Korean culture and life style. If you don't, find another country for yourself And do not make any offensive move like building a church in middle of citizen's houses for only your religion. If you want to stay and live with korean people, you have to respect their culture , life style of the citizen and sentiment of the area first. Because it's Korea not your country bro... that's common sense before claiming your complaints. I'm not saying "go away" or "your religion is wrong" .... just you should comprehend the citizen and be considerate. The problem in Korea with you is that you want to stay and work for your family but you must keep the rule of your religion but some citizen in korea or house area don't like your religion near by their house. And some company fully don't understand the life style of your religion. Yeah I know but you can't change and you must not change them because that's how they live and their style. It just doesn't match with your life style so find another place or company. If that doesn't work, just find another country. That's the only solution for you. Stop complaining about your situation. This is Korea and we are willing to help and accept your opinion but not everything. This is the same thing that your country will do for you people. This is not the country for only muslim people to live and this is the country for everyone to live together . That's why you have to respect other citizen and people and other religion. I had seen a lot of hatred on a post regarding the Pride parade in South Korea from the community who are interviewed in this video. This is what kinda pinches me. It is okay to practice your religion at home but expecting a country that follows a different religion from Islam to accommodate for your special requests feels like overreaching. Respect must be two ways. No hatred to anyone but you are in a foreign country why would they adjust for your belief system????

Alhamdulillah for the Bangladeshi guy for being more drawn into Islam due to little Muslim interaction. Typically the opposite is what happens to people who are away from their own community, they find themselves adapting to their host countries ways of life instead. I'm really proud of him that he became even more into Islam and is studying more so he can live a rightful life. He's doing the right thing.

조용한 마을에 무슬림 사원이 들어서는 것을 한국 시민들이 반대하는 것은 종교 차별이 아니라 땅값과 관련이 있습니다. 외국인 노동자들이 모여 있는 지역은 가난하고 낙후된 지역으로 인식되는 경향이 있습니다. 그래서 무슬림 사원이 우리 동네에 들어온다 하면 땅값 하락을 우려한 집주인들이 결사 반대를 하는거지요. 종교, 인종 차별과 상관이 없습니다. 무슬림이 아닌 다른 외국 사원이었다 해도 마찬가지의 반응을 보일 겁니다.

I wish every country could be good for its people so that no one would immigrate. Nothing is better than home! Let's be honest, wherever we go except our country, we are strangers. That's a fact. I'm a blonde European so when I went to Korea people liked me even before they knew me well. Of course that's racist. I've met muslims there and I can say that life in Korea was not easy for them. Koreans don't really like muslims. And Europe the same. I understand the reason and it's a misunderstanding. There are many muslims from undeveloped countries who do crimes or terrorism. That's a fact. But not all muslims are like this. Depends on where they're from. Unfortunately people in general don't think much about it. So as a result the life of muslims in western or in westernized countries like Korea, is not the best... That's why I started by saying I wish people wouldn't feel the need to immigrate or... at least to immigrate to countries with a similar culture.

There are plethora of inevitable issues which are heart burning 🔥 which muslims are facing in Korea. Beard is dirty thing for Korean as long as it's on Muslim or South Asian's face. But if a westerner have same beard then they have no issue. If a Muslim avoids from pork and meat then they think you are an extremist + if you are an Indian vegan/vegetarian then they think you are a conservative. But if westerners are vegetarian then they think westerners are health conscious 🤔. It's totally biasing behavior of the society. I remember, when I came to Korea in 2019, we were on a dinner with our professor. I avoided pork and meat stuffs at the restaurant. Professor insulted me in front of other labmates saying "don't be a radical, Muslims have a small world, Muslim have a small mind etc." 🤔. Eventhough he was partially drunk, but you know a person spits his hidden opinion when his mind isn't working haha. WTF I am a Muslim I have to obey my religious values. Why I should eat pork? If Chinese have more option of eating dog/cat etc., does it mean they are more open minded than Koreans? More importantly if a cannibal eats human fresh meat, then? So, these are common issues which I don't think will be uprooted from the society before 22nd century.

Korea was heavily influenced by the United States and Protestantism, so there were many people who were negative about Muslims. Also, many Koreans were ignorant of Islamic culture. But the younger generation is getting better.
