That second woman (Sara), with the dark red hair, has perfect Korean. Not just speaking, but the cadence, tone, and emphasis, along with her facial expressions and mannerisms are on point. It is impressive whenever a foreigner reaches this level of fluency. If you closed your eyes, it would be hard to tell that she is not Korean.

The biggest problem most of the people want to go korea because of Kdrama. It's like moving to Hogwarts and finding harry Potter. Go there to enjoy food and technology. There was a kpop fan who was on sm and said basically; “I can’t wait til my divorce is finalized so I can move to South Korea”. And I just asked her some questions like; “Do you know the language? Do you know anyone who lives there? Do you have some type of plan? Do you know the culture outside of the rose-colored view from kpop?” She ended up blocking me for that. Oh, well. I hope SK ended up being everything she expected.

@@user-bn5pq7bh5g Well they are definitely Koreans. We don't have too much Asian people and the Chinese ones are usually business owners. They have shops with useful, cheap Chinese stuff or restaurants. Koreans are newcomers, but pouring money and building factories. Our problem is, that they are polluting the environment. They don't pay too much and it's a new concept to them that a boss can't hit the employees. A manager at the most famous company was suprised, because after an incident the worker's extended family waited him after thevday to teach him the local customs. So Hungarians barely work for them and the bring foreign workers from India. They aren't good at safety either, because a lot of serious accidents happened, but they try to keep it in secret. It makes them suspicious and untrustworthy.

To be honest it was “fashionable” for middle and higher class Koreans to have “a foreign friend” back in the day. Made them feel more international. It also gave the impression that they spoke English. Back then most people only spoke English if they lived abroad which required a higher level of wealth and status to get international visas. My cousin who had five daughters had the oldest one go to Korea to be a English teacher. She was there for many years, but now is back in America becoming a lawyer. So this topic hit my head today to look up Korea and foreigners along with English teachers in Korea. The girl who speaks perfect Korean is the one I really feel for. I can see her wanting some aspect of the movies and K-pop to be there with cart bars all over like a personality of the city and I also agree with her completely on the spitting. She won my heart with her two points there. And she's right. The heart of a community is the closeness and so she probably fell in love with the idea of walking down the street and seeing so many people you know at various cart bars such that even when you are older you feel younger and connected as you see all you remember, even if for her the younger was in movies and dreams. For that it really makes me realize Korea is truly in her heart. Then to now want the spitting shows all the more she wants the very best for what she sees as the very best. She's great.

Many people try to live in Korea and just extend their tourist visa in Japan because it is so close and cheap to go for a day and come back. Very recently immigration is cracking down on people who do this. But honestly, immigration in every country can be quite harsh. I did not find immigration in Japan kind at all and I lived there for 10 years. There are also many Japanese who are nationalist and look down on Korea. As a result of this, many Japanese think Korea is “trash” because they believe they are a superior race.

To Alexis from the US: The rude Ahjussi is behaving rude not because you are a foreigner or black. Im 100% sure that he behaves the same way (rude) to Koreans too 😅 there is racism in Korea but you will not encounter mean behaviors on the street due to racism. You will encounter Racism when you try to get a job or some specific occasions. The mean behaviors you may encounter is usually nothing to do with race, but foreigners tend to interpret that way. 😢 Some Koreans just talk insensitive (blunt, rude), and act rude. I'm sorry about it, but you should just ignore the bad behaviors of strangers, just like other Koreans do. 😅 you can complain about it to your Korean friends. They will get angry for you or sometimes may file complaint instead of you. The restaurant owner who tried to give you free food is very nice. That doesn't happen to Koreans 😂 you are lucky to meet such a person. 😊 I Dont know what you think about the Korean beauty standard or colorism. To Koreans you look very beautiful and your skin is glowing beautifully. If some old Koreans stare at you, they are curious and amused to see a foreigner, so if you say hi in Korean, they may talk to you and say you are pretty.

@@rennwithrizz it depends on what you do. I heard in children’s English schools, they prefer white people over blacks or Asians. If you are modeling, a white person don’t have much merit anymore because there are too many. Blacks or Latinos may get more chances. Getting rejected from a job because of you are a foreigner can be very high, but depends on the job you are seeking. In areas they have the shortage of workers, they may try to recruit foreigners, but most descents jobs are already very competitive to Koreans. If you are fluent in Korean, you may be able to get service jobs, but In most places they prefer Koreans. They are not accustomed to foreigner workers, and be confused about how to work with them if they didn’t have foreign workers previously. I saw some foreign workers at cafes, and they looked like Asian students. They were fluent in Korean, and young and sociable. Koreans you meet may be much nicer or meaner to you. kdrama effect. Most people that aren't in US military or go to Korea as immigrant from South East Asia are young (and generally pretty) women that go there because they like Korea and want to be more like Koreans themselves. Have you noticed how all these people are pretty too? The country is basically a "glam" obsessed cyberpunk dystopia, so when you look at it from a naive perspective, it just looks very attractive. Literally all these girls in the video that tell other people not to go there due to kdrama...went there for kdrama dreams, it just shows so so much. They say they didn't move due to it but once every 2 seconds the word kdrama is still brought up in a positive light, even arguing somethings are indeed the same etc. I wish they interviewed maybe a bit older people or people working in corporate etc. and maybe interview more men

Koreans are shy. Most Koreans don’t approach strangers/foreigners, except really extrovert ones or bad people with shady intentions. It’s best that you approach a group of people-like a bunch of students. When they are in groups, there is usually an extrovert person who wants to talk with foreigners, and other shy people may join the conversation too. If you notice somebody (usually old people) is staring at you, that’s because they are curious. If you say hi to them in Korean, they may start to chat with you. Some may run away because of the fear of English 😅 but some people will enjoy talking with a foreigner. Good luck! 👍

*Snap out of🇰🇷drama fantasy & moving. I’m a Psych Prof (34) & have twins (14). British Indian (olive skin). Post job offers, I decided to go🇰🇷alone x2 in the city & rural, 2 weeks each. Rented to feel the living experience (hotel is a whole diff experience). I was born & raised in a poor & rough area until 17, so naturally Street wise. I was blessed to raise my children differently but, teach them not to be naive. Other than school they’re models, son is signed to a basketball team, humble but, not timid. Schools are great BUT, the children are a problem I noticed hierarchy RE: parents wealth, looks & shocked girls are nasty. I pointed it out loud to headteachers in front of students so they also hear. I declined as don’t want my children to be used for their own success & also even my daughter would do pysical damage to a boy/girl if they tried test her to make it known not to try her she’ll put them back in their place. I didn’t want them to start becoming arrogant as they grow/privy to racism (Olive skin)🇰🇷beauty standards haven’t evolved much & 100% don’t want my girl to want to have a body of a a child, as a woman. That side of beauty standards are concerning (as I also visited university to see the young adults). Then I traveled with both children they loved🇰🇷said they’d happily move but, felt annoyed the way noticing how students treat others, think it’s cool & my son felt uncomfortable with how desperate girls were whispering he’s handsome & daughter (they felt it was quite desperate & it would get worse as they get older). I was surprised that’s the big downfall they pointed out themselves - unwanted attention. Their confident to move but, they’re still growing & worried of that generation’s mindset don’t want to risk it influencing. They’ll get into fights even if they don’t know someone & see their being bullied they intervene to stop it straight away & that I’m proud of. Where as in🇰🇷teachers expect kids to just take it & I won’t tell my children to change that amazing quality they have. As for myself the men are VERY full on flirts with women & I saw very clever ladies get rejected due to looks (don’t meet beauty standards) so those qualities are highly off putting. So decided to keep🇰🇷as a holiday destination. My point think of the big picture & every hypothetical scenario so your ready. Good luck if you’re planning on moving I hope you have a smooth transition♥️🙏🧿*

All movies and dramas are either romantic depiction of the country, city, and culture or it shows exaggerated darkness within the society. True Story. I was in the Military at the time, and we often visit Korea doing our tours. A friend and I was at this mall, and we wasn't planning on buying anything, just walking around. The friend of mine said that she needed more eyeliner, so went to first cosmetic store that we saw. We just looking and browsing at the makeup. When we got to the foundation, the women approached us and said WE DON'T HAVE IN YOUR COLOR. Me and my friend looked at each other was like DID SHE REALLY SAID THAT. It was a long and uncomfortable pause because neither of us didn't know what to say. She didn't say CAN I HELP YOU?, or CAN I FIND YOU SOMETHING? We were taken aback so much I ask to speak to someone who was in charge. The women came and she was very nice and friendly and spoke some basic english, and we explained what happen, and I said that I didn't want her to be punished or lose her job or anything, but I told her that she needs to be retrained on customer service when it come to foreigners. She apologized and said that she will talk to her. And we said THANK YOU and we left. But yes, for me and my friend that was a disappointing experience. YES I KNOW! ALL KOREANS ARE NOT LIKE THIS! YES I GET IT!

You might not understand this but koreans are very direct many times to the point of bluntness. And they act really fast to solve a problem. She did not confirm what you were looking for and just assumed you were looking for foundation. Most korean foundations are available only in 2-3 shades only. I think that woman was trying to communicate the fact. I understand the word choices sounds very rude to Americans. But those seem unfortunate coincidence to me and misunderstanding happened on both sides. If I were told the same thing, I would’ve told her I am looking for different product right away. Many times foreigners do not understand negative connotations of certain expressions in one language. Those come much much later in learning one language. I‘ve been living in the US for 25 years. I still make mistakes without knowing and afraid of this kind of situation.

Do Koreans favor white people and discriminate against Southeast Asians or Africans? It varies from person to person and most won't. If someone discriminates, it will be largely affected by illegal immigrants and there are more than 400,000 illegal immigrants in Korea now. Most of them come from Southeast Asia and cause many social problems. And discrimination is everywhere in the world. In Japan, for example, foreigners from the third world countires cannot even rent a room for a month without a guarantee from the same Japanese. Even in Southeast Asia, they discriminate against each other by nationality and the gap between the rich and the poor. there are certain cyber forces that use black propaganda to smear Korea in order to interfer the expansion of Korea's influence its external influence. Please verify and judge by yourself. In some cases, foreign media have made Koreans racist, completely different from Korea's reality. 1. Black people or people from Southeast Asia are denied taxi rides? This has happened less than 0.0001 percent, I swear. 2. Are foreign brides married to Koreans discriminated against and suffered from violence? There was a case like this for very few Vietnamese women who married some Koreans, but most migrant women are living well, and the Vietnamese medias distorted the fact that most married migrant Vietnamse migrant women have had. The reason is that there were so many Vietnamese who wanted to marry Koreans in the past that the Vietnamese government intentionally manipulated the media. 3. Are black people teased or shunned in Korea? Don't be ridiculous. If you ask black people living in Korea, most of them will say that they have heard of it, but they havnt seen. And when the human rights group surveyed foreigners who felt discrimination in Korea for their reasons, they answered that first, it was because they spoke Korean incorrectly, and second, it was because they were not Korean. This means that since Korea and Japan are single-ethnic countries, they have not had good access to foreigners in the past, and foreigners living in Korea have felt alienated and excluded from the group by the majority of Koreans because they are ethnic minority.

Koreans are very friendly to white people and international students, but they have a duality of treating foreigners who work in 3D as a lowly citizen, and it is a country where racism is very serious. Compared to Seoul's beautiful appearance, 150,000 foreigners who work in the provinces are all suffering from huge racism...

That unnie and oppa thing exists in Indian culture too... We call someone older, if a man, Dada and someone older, if woman, Didi even if they are not related... Because it is seen as a disrespect in our culture to call someone by their name if they are older... Any random person is called Dada and Didi, when addressed for something

Kids just call them uncle or aunty, if it’s a formal setting then Ma’am or Sir (eg in school). If they’re closer in age to you, you could add ‘Ji’ along with their first name. This could differ in different parts of India

@@margotmargot4426 they call them Kaku for a Mr and Kakima for Mrs, if they are addressing their friend's moms and dads... Even if someone looks like an older person, like someone for their mother's or father's age, they address that way. In the bengali culture I mean.
