My kitty is named Stella too! She was spayed a few days ago, and the top layer - like you said - was glued. Guess what - after two days that incision popped open because she licked on it so much (vet sent her home without a cone, same reason as yours.) I had to take her back to have the wound cleaned and sutured which involved anesthesia, an overnight stay, and another $200. Glad it worked out for YOU, but didn't work for my kitty at all. Oh, and she has already ripped off the cone they sent her home with after the sutures. I'm at a loss of what to do now.

I still say that "Lucky and the Ferals" sounds like the handle of the most obscure 1960s-vintage girl group ever produced by Phil Spector. 😉🐈👑🎤🎶 That said, I also love the entire clowder (Boo and the Gang, to cite a different genre 😉🐱👍🎶), and the Lady who gave them each their best life.

Dear Lucky Ferals Mom, this is one of the most beautiful episodes I've seen on KZbin. Not only is Stella gorgeous - her white fur!! - but the relationship you have with her comes through - your love for her and her love for you! I'm gonna watch it for the third time. Thank you. P.S. It's also an informative video, but it's magical - because I feel Stella coming through.

One of my females ripped open her stitches it was awful! I rushed her to our vet. It was after nine pm. No vet tech was available so I held Raven while the emergency vet stapled her shut(local anesthetic given). The next day I brought her in and they fixed her up. I had the oldest vet who didn’t bury stitches because he’d never had a problem until me. This time he buried the stitches. Make sure your vet does this!

@semperfi8183 жыл бұрын
A capable vet, like a capable physician, should not only be patient with questions from their clients, but should encourage the asking, and then answer accurately and ensure that their clients understand as much as pawsible about their critters' health and about any procedures done. If your vet shows impatience or, worse, unwillingness to answer questions, I'd advise finding a new vet -- remember, you're hiring a vet to provide a service for your kitteh, and your education as a pet guardian is a significant part of that service.

Fortunately my daughter is a vet assistant at the vet clinic that I use. I get lots of information from her, the vet tech. and the vet. My cats' normal vet is on maternity leave, but my daughter has another fav vet that she recommended. Rumer gets his neuter done next month. I do not want him wearing a cone and will let the vet know that. I mentioned to my daughter that I want him given pain meds and she said that is standard practice at the clinic (it was not when Gypsy was spayed at a different clinic, six years ago. I had to ask for it). When my six year old cat was spayed, she did not wear a cone.
@LuckyFerals2 жыл бұрын
I have found that it is not necessary for a cat to wear a cone after a spay or neuter surgery. also a vet will usually give the cat a painkiller shot that lasts for 24 hours up to three days depending on which one they use.

My vet is closed. I just got my cat home after spayed. She got internal stitching and external glue. She sent us home with a cone and she fights it until it comes off. She is small, I modified the cone a bit smaller and tighter and she squirms until it comes off. She wants to jump and play and I'm worried she will pull something. She want to pick and groom. I can't sit her and watch nonstop all night. Not sure what to do.

I can't tell you what to do, but I can tell you my experience. In October of 2022, I had 5 female kittens spayed. They were around 6 months old. They were all feral cats that I had trapped and was going to train to become house cats. All of them had internal stitches and external glue. None of them wore cones. They all healed nicely without any issues. I did not sit and watch them nonstop but did check on them often. Their journey was documented in Lucky Ferals Season 6 and the spaying started in Episode 43 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3-bdomvapJ3a6c

My vet didn’t give me any e-collar or anything. Here watching the link from last video! Was there a lump that developed when stella got spayed? My cat got spayed yesterday and theres a small lump it could be because it's still inflamed or idk if its supposed to be that way? My vet and their sister clinic won't answer!!!!
@LuckyFerals3 жыл бұрын
I don’t remember seeing a lump but it could be from inflammation. Definitely keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t get bigger, turn red, or start oozing. And try to reach your vet to question them.
@VivienBowling Жыл бұрын
I am happy to talk to the vet, but they will ask me to make another appointment if my questions take a long time, speaking to the vet over the phone, is the same, please make an appointment. These appointments cost a huge amount of money so I might be the boss but they are not working for fresh air.
@LuckyFerals Жыл бұрын
I would get a new vet if that was the case. When I pay for a vet appointment, I am not paying for a time slot. I am not paying them by the hour. I am paying them for their service of examining my pet, diagnosing my pet, and answering any questions that I have and addressing any concerns that I have. Whether that takes a half hour or an hour, it does not matter. If a vet ever charged me extra for asking questions, or calling them with a question or emailing them with a question, I would quickly find a new vet.

What is your opinion on vaccinations? Do you think it's too repative to get them?
@semperfi8183 жыл бұрын
What are you trying to ask? The word you used to describe vaccinations doesn't exist, so I cannot determine what you wish to know here.
@benwinkel3 жыл бұрын
For yourself or for Brodie? Any vaccination is just a precaution and a protection against illness. But only for the purrson or animal who gets the vaccine. It doesn't mean they can't still be contagious to others. Was the word you meant "repetitive"? Do you think they want to give Brodie too many shots?
@LuckyFerals3 жыл бұрын
I practice and advocate natural health and the use of herbs. I prefer a naturally strong immune system that results from a healthy diet and lifestyle. It’s a much stronger defense against any disease or virus. For humans and cats. My vet agrees and does not like to over vaccinate cats.

My vet said it’s not necessary to use a cone for cats … but I asked for one anyway .. she said cats don’t usually lick after surgery which I thought was odd I told her I know my cat abs she definitely going to lick because it’s foreign to her so I’m not sure what kind of surgery stitches she had I wasn’t told I didn’t know there was a difference until right now smh 🤦🏻♀️ but I will call tomorrow to ask about it I put the cone on her because she did start licking it a few times so I have no clue I’m going to make her a suit or something to protect it at least I have no clue I’m definitely not scared but I want to know what kind of surgery did she have ? Why was I told she don’t need a cone because this cone is stressing her out confining her is stressing her out I cuddle with her I do my best but she’s so used to laying with me and sleeping with I feel so bad that she’s in her play pin that’s for cats I’ve been laid in there with her since it’s so big but I have to keep her in it because I’ve try to let her out to eat and right after she’s jumping everywhere 😩 so I had to put her back I’m playing bird videos for her so she can stay calm at least since she was so hyper after surgery which I thought was weird

I had a vet actually tell me not to come back because I was asking too many questions and accused me of questioning their opinion. My cat had kidney disease on top of it and I was upset trying to navigate how to best care for him. They sent me a letter saying not to come back and left me high and dry with a very ill cat. Disgusting. I will shout from the rooftops what a POS vet this is to anyone who will listen in my area. I have a wonderful vet now, but sad that this happens, and after looking into stuff this happens at vets more often than one would like to believe.
@LuckyFerals Жыл бұрын
That’s horrible! so sorry to hear that. I’ve dealt with some very bad vets also. Had a cat with cancer and had vets refuse to see him because he was a rescued feral. They deserve to have their licenses revoked.
@nicolemarie011 Жыл бұрын
@LuckyFerals That's terrible. Any vet this cruel needs shut down! Thank you for trying to help him regardless. Yes, I have had some bad ones, but this place was the worst. There is already a shortage of veterinarians at the moment, and then a lot of bad ones make it so much harder to find a good one. My poor baby passed away sooner than he should have thanks to their lack of care and concern.

Why not just make this industry standard procedure. So many vets and ppl pcps are stuck in 1800 medicine ...
@LuckyFerals Жыл бұрын
Yes I agree. I recently had 7 other cats spayed and neutered and none of them wore cones, they all had absorbable stitches and surgical glue. None of them tried to bite their incisions. The only issue I can see is that it costs more and many vets don't even give people the option to do it that way. The only reason I was given the option is because they were feral cats and supposed to be released back outside.
