Why My Channel Sucks Lately

A lot of you have been wondering where I have been... I really struggled with publicizing this, but ultimately I feel that honesty, transparency, and authenticity is always the right choice.
He truly was my biggest supporter, in life and KZbin. In fact, he was so fascinated with the business-side of KZbin that he would've wanted me to monetize the heck out of this video, but I feel that would come across horribly. If KZbin plays ads that is out of my control.

Dude your channel doesn't suck. I'm going on my first solo Vegas trip tomorrow because, in part, to your videos. I'm pushing myself past what I would have ever thought of doing because of your attitude to life. You should know you have a positive impact in real people out in the real world. Lots of trees on the grounds to keep you shaded. There are kids on the property but the waterpark is almost separate.

Mama Coolist, you have an amazing son that produces incredible, honest travel videos that sometimes create friendships even he's over at another sunny beach. Our household went to Lopesan Costa Bavaro three weeks ago, and I met a gentleman from the UK while watching the sunrise over the party boats just offshore. About five minutes into the conversation, we both found out the reason why we were there was because of some KZbinr that goes by Coolist highly recommended it. James, your content is amazing and it was so cool to talk about it with a stranger that soon became a friend. We're going to try to cross paths again next year from opposite sides of the globe. Regarding your father, my dad beat Stage 3 Esophageal cancer, and I get to cherish my bonus time with him. I'm happy to see that you had the opportunity to do the same. So sorry to hear about the loss go your dad. I lost mine to stage 4 cancer 12 years ago. It never gets better but it does get a little easier as time passes. There are still times that I go to call home to talk to him and forget he’s not there. This was a brave video and I congratulate you on your courage and openness and the fact that you stay positive. Honestly I love your channel and your videos… I’ve been watching your travel videos for over the last 3 weeks. I’ve probably watched 20 of your videos in the last 3 weeks. So sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend my mom September 2022 and went on vacation July 2023 with my friends for my first birthday without her on this earth. And although I enjoyed my friends. There was a part of me, still a part of me today that will forever be sad. I try to live in the moment. You are great at what you do and I lost my dad, who was 93, three months ago and I binged a lot of KZbin in those two weeks after and namely your videos of your traveling and reviewing all over the place. It took my mind to a better place during a dark time so what you do makes a difference to lots of other people in ways you might not even think of so keep moving forward and know your videos sometimes mean more than just reviewing a cool pool scene. James, I'm so sorry. I always relate to you because I'm from Milwaukee. I live in socal now but we are still all one big family. My girlfriend tells me she can't believe how it seems like everyone from Wisconsin is the nicest person ever. It is wonderful you got to spend that time at the end though . My father grew ill, suffered from MS and was hospitalized. I was on my way out there but the medical team said he "was gonna be alright " . He passed 2 days later, not a day goes by I kick myself I didn't go. Then my mom passed in 2019 , in Houston in the parking lot of a brewers / Astros game . Not a day goes by I don't think of them. James, I found your channel sometime around the holiday season 2021, when I got the all clear from my mom and dad to find a tropical place to go for my first college spring break. I watched every single video you had made for every tropical destination. After evaluating what my parents wanted, price, and what I wanted, we ended up at a property you didn’t review, Majestic Colonial. It was a blast, and we had an amazing time as a family. About 7 months after the trip towards the end of 2022 my father passed away suddenly while I was at college. We must have had similar father figures; one of the distinct things I remember is how not everyone could fit in all the pews, and it was standing room only throughout the whole funeral home. Thanksgiving and Christmas were quite hard for the whole family that year and even last year. Thank you for the recommendations and adventures you’ve taken us all on throughout the years. It made the last year with my dad a real treat. You’ve ignited a passion for travel within me that I didn’t know I had, and if I ever bump into you I’ll be sure to say hello, maybe we can shoot the shit with stories of our beloved fathers. There’s so much I could say, but I’ll keep it short. I’m truly sorry for your loss, it will always hurt, but it does get easier. You’re making him proud every day.

What a moving story! So sorry to hear of your loss. Better to re-title this episode as "Homage to my Dad". So courageous of you to share your pain. Losing a parent is so wrenching. I went to work the morning after getting a 2am call that Mom died. Didn't know what else to do so fell back on the sanity of routine. I'm sure you will find inner resilience. It doesn't matter how often or if you release travel videos, although your viewers love to observe your travels we know you are human and experience both Joy's and losses. No need to apologize. I lost my mom in 2019 and I have never been the same. A part of me is gone when I loss my Mom. Grief is different for everyone and grief as no time. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I can really relate to this video! My dad has 4 stage lung cancer and is suffering on the daily basis. I live in a different state and dread a phone call from my relatives. My dad is on borrowed time right now. I remember my dad when he was young, tall, and handsome but he is very weak and sick right now. It is extremely sad to lose a parent and mentor! Stay strong… my dad passed in March , he was sick but managed well on his own back in Ukraine. We video chatted every Friday but I knew that one day I will receive that dreaded phone call… he went fast and painless… lost consciousness, one week in a coma and that’s it…

Deepest condolences for your loss, James. My father was in the hospital for one year straight, pulled through after countless complications, and lived another seven years before the complications caught up with him. Like you, he was an amazing dad and left this life way too soon. He is always in my heart and prayers and his influence on me lives on in my day to day choices in life. It has been many years since his passing. There will always be an empty space but, surprisingly, he remains as much a part of my life now than when he was alive. In time, you will see just how great he was because of how great an influence he had on you. That means he is always there when you need him. Always. Go do you!

Im a "quiet" but big fan, lost my mom 5 years ago unexpectedly, your video's helped me get out and travel more and further than i ever dreamed, but its what i needed to see that life is worth living not just the hustle and bustle of a 9-5! Thank you for your content, your a like minded traveler and you have helped me and alot of us, find a world unknown to some! I am a solo traveler, at 40 sumthin its the only way to be 😉😂 with the cards we are delt in life. You have given me great insight on my caribbean experience and have changed my life meeting some of the greatest people based on your videos and recommendations. I’m so sorry for your loss. I know my husband was devastated when he lost his Dad/bestfriend. I completely understand how you are feeling I then lost my husband 14 months ago suddenly in his sleep. After 31 years growing up with him I need to find myself, joy and purpose as well as honouring his life 💔💔

Thanks for sharing it means a lot especially as a 60yr old who lost his dad at 18. It takes time to grieve and that pain of losing a loved one turns into something special. We love your videos. We’ve used your videos and have travelled to Cancun. Cabo, and recently to Holbox (where time seemed to just slow down). My husband and I I have watched you for several years. I turned to my husband a few months ago and said “Something is off, I think he is burnt out or lonely”. Kudos to you for pushing through. My dad just passed away too on May 30th after suffering from a stroke 2 years ago. You will never regret those extra months you got to spend with him and now he is along with you on your travels.
