Dude your channel doesn't suck. I'm going on my first solo Vegas trip tomorrow because, in part, to your videos. I'm pushing myself past what I would have ever thought of doing because of your attitude to life. You should know you have a positive impact in real people out in the real world. I hope you're doing well man, and I'm really sorry to hear about your Father. Your audience is here because of your authenticity and trying to give advice to other travellers. We will still be here for you no matter how long it takes for you to grieve the way you need to.

Video should have been titled A Tribute to my Father. He deserved every word you said. Father and son relationships are everything. My Dad was the greatest man I have ever known and now I work hard everyday to bring the same joy to my son that my Dad brought to me. Your videos are amazing in part because your Dad was amazing. You are him. He is proud of his son.

Grief and sorrow does change the attitude. I hate when people say GET OVER IT. No, work through it. There is nothing like a Dad and son bond. I love your channel. That’s all sir.

James, I’m not a typical KZbin commenter, however I felt compelled to tell you how much my wife and I appreciate you and your videos. We’ve been watching for years and you’ve inspired us to pursue travel and ignited a greater passion for adventure. Thank you for your hard work, resiliency, kindness, and desire to inspire us all. Obviously nothing can replace your dad, but throughout the rest of your life you will be the beneficiary of moments and reminders that you carry his love with you everywhere you go. I pray that this will bring a measure of unmatched comfort whenever you need it most. Thank you for what you do, keep pursuing your dreams, and safe travels my friend

The algorithm has not failed me. You do pop up in my feed. 18 months? I found you within that time. I came for the travel advise, but you stayed for the human connection that we all sorely lack. Don't be so quick to discount that. I'm sending you the biggest digital hug, handshake, whatever... Find some stillness. Reflect. Appreciate. Thank you for what you do. You've made a difference in my life and others. No matter how big or small.

Mama Coolist, you have an amazing son that produces incredible, honest travel videos that sometimes create friendships even he's over at another sunny beach. Our household went to Lopesan Costa Bavaro three weeks ago, and I met a gentleman from the UK while watching the sunrise over the party boats just offshore. About five minutes into the conversation, we both found out the reason why we were there was because of some KZbinr that goes by Coolist highly recommended it. James, your content is amazing and it was so cool to talk about it with a stranger that soon became a friend. We're going to try to cross paths again next year from opposite sides of the globe. Regarding your father, my dad beat Stage 3 Esophageal cancer, and I get to cherish my bonus time with him. I'm happy to see that you had the opportunity to do the same. I am anxiously awaiting your journey back to happiness...keep up the good work!

Hi Jimmy ! Lost my father to Lewy Body dementia, it was devastating. His words to me a year prior was " You have to accept it " I told him he was going to live till 130, bc at the time, which was a little over a year prior to his death he really seemed alright, just a little forgetful. However he knew he wasn't going to be here much longer. That day I said " ok ! ok !, I accept it but I can cry if I want to". We didn't know he had Lewy body dementia and was told at the time it was just dementia. Like your Dad he was amazing and a people person ! he loved people, really enjoyed making a difference in peoples lives, why ? because we are all important ! Best of all he was humble. We love your videos, use them to make important decisions about deciding were to go and stay on our trips. They are invaluable , truthful and really reach out to people who want to make inform decisions. Soooo, keep doing what you love !, reach out to the people but most of all enjoy them as you go ! Your Dad I am sure is gleaming with joy from above and so very proud of you as well as your Mom. So enjoy what you do and all that surrounds you ! Words of wisdom- incorporated those Dads and Moms in your videos so we can see how happy all of them are by following your great trip advice ! God speed P.S. don't normally respond to anything but I was very close to my Dad and you deserve to know your videos are important to people bc you care ! Tammie :)

I can't imagine commenting negatively on a travel video. The only negative thing I can say about a travel vloggers is that sometimes, they appeared to be doing a paid advertisement rather than an honest independent review. THIS CHANNEL NEVER GAVE THAT VIBE. One of the best travel vloggers out there right now. I really enjoyed your travel videos and adventures. I still thank the Coolist whenever I get away with the "unofficial late checkout" LMAO. Shit I would never tried to do if I didn't watch your travel vlogs. I still get jealous of how luxuriously you eat on your vacations (but I get it, I'm just a broke college student trying to live it up when I can). All the while, you were. Gosh I’m glad you had 18 months of quality time with him. I am glad you’re sharing your grief with us. It means so much that you trust us that way. I don’t understand the part about having to pump content because, well, i don’t do what you do! And you’re a one man show! I mean, most channels that i watch have more than one person helping with the show! That’s a full time job. I follow a gal that lives on the road and films like hiking and camping. She says the same things that you’re saying about how much work it is. And that’s why I support her and that’s why I support you. I get it. I’m a farmer so I understand what you have to do every day and that’s get up and go to work or nothing‘s gonna get done. I respect you for that. So whether you pump once a month, I’m here for the long haul. You always cheer me up🎉 I believe in heaven so i know for a fact that your Dad is happy, pain free, full of love and at peace. You take him with you everywhere you go. I can’t wait for you to start seeing signs from him that he’s with you i.e hearing his favorite songs, perhaps a butterfly or hummingbird siting, something you’ll know, “Hiya Dad!” You are James Coolist and you will always be a rockstar to me. But even rockstars have to get rest off the tour. Take care friend and love on your Mama. All the best to you, always! 🍃🩷🍃

James, I'm so sorry. I always relate to you because I'm from Milwaukee. I live in socal now but we are still all one big family. My girlfriend tells me she can't believe how it seems like everyone from Wisconsin is the nicest person ever. It is wonderful you got to spend that time at the end though . My father grew ill, suffered from MS and was hospitalized. I was on my way out there but the medical team said he "was gonna be alright " . He passed 2 days later, not a day goes by I kick myself I didn't go. Then my mom passed in 2019 , in Houston in the parking lot of a brewers / Astros game . Not a day goes by I don't think of them. Thinking of ya man, always look forward to your videos , take care

Deepest condolences for your loss, James. My father was in the hospital for one year straight, pulled through after countless complications, and lived another seven years before the complications caught up with him. Like you, he was an amazing dad and left this life way too soon. He is always in my heart and prayers and his influence on me lives on in my day to day choices in life. It has been many years since his passing. There will always be an empty space but, surprisingly, he remains as much a part of my life now than when he was alive. In time, you will see just how great he was because of how great an influence he had on you. That means he is always there when you need him. Always. Go do you!

You should know, as a subscriber to your channel I don’t need videos posted wkly. When we are looking to vacation I pop on to see what and if you have reviewed resorts in the area we want to go to. Your channel is the best place for an honest genuine review that doesn’t annoy or put us to sleep.

Hey James, Watched your video and I didn’t even cry… until the pictures of you and your Pa 😭 Never apologize for your channel “sucking” it doesn’t suck, it’s great. I still watch all of your older videos and even took you up on a recommendation and we were to Excellence Punta Cana in May! Your channel is still “channeling” even when you’re not posting. You have great, refreshing, honest content - and the people who know that aren’t going anywhere. There’s another KZbinr I follow that only posts every 3 months and you know what? I’m ALWAYS there waiting when she does. You need to take care of you because no you = no channel. Take care and when you’re ready, we will be here ❤ thank you for sharing a super vulnerable video.

Thank you for the best vacation advice..As someone that took a Cancun trip last year after I lost both my parents, that was a rebirth and a reconnect with my other half. Our parents give us the greatest memories and coming from modest beginnings myself helps us grow. Keep your chin up. Heading to Punta Cana this year.

First off, my deepest condolences. That is rough stuff, and I have been in your shoes. I lost both of my parents at an early age. My mother when I was 15 and my father when I was 29. I'm 55 now and it still hurts, but as you said, I was lucky to have been born in the US and had them as parents. I appreciated you opening up and explaining why you thought your videos were off, but you didn't need to. I wonder, and find it remarkable how you even mustered the will to do any videos with everything that you had going on. Kudos to you showing your personal human side. Took a lot to do that. Too tell you the truth, I didn't notice any downgrade just the length between videos was more. I thought it was just being tired from having that much fun partying, eating, and drinking all the time. Anyway, I just want to also thank you for sharing your passion for travel, showing us cool stuff, and your honest opinions. It really helps narrow down hotels that are out there. Someday my wife and I hope to take your advice and hit one of these hotels. That's if, like you said, the new 1 dollar still is a 10 dollar bill or more the way it's going. You are awesome at what you do and look forward to more. Keep your passion going, and take time for yourself to heel. Stay safe and take care!

On the 10th on July will mark the 1 year to their death. I pains me to say that the pain doesnt go away however time makes it easier to endure, also knowing that they will want me to continue doing whats best gives me the strength and power. So my dear friend i wish you nothing but happieness, faith and strength in your time of need. Please continue doing what you do best

Hi James! My husband and I have watched your videos for over a year now. This video hit hard. We lost my FIL Feb 2023. We relate to everything you said. We laughed when you mentioned the projects in Harlem- it’s where my husband was raised. We are so sorry for the loss of your dad. It was beautiful to see his pictures at the end. This video was a great reminder of how lucky we are. I wish I could say more and more eloquently but my watering eyes won’t allow it. Looking forward to seeing more content. James SR is smiling down.

Like another commenter said, your channel does not suck try not to be so hard on yourself. It's because of your videos that my husband and I have went with the hotels we did for the few vacations we've taken together and ended up having such great experiences. I've been looking at this hotel you're at in this video and as soon as I heard your brief review of it I booked us for our next vacay because we trust your opinion that much. Our deepest condolences to you and your family James and just know you have lifelong viewers in us no matter what.
